Which year building were you in?

50's section, facing the lake, fourth floor... We literally watched the fireworks like we were there everynight at the park. We stayed 7 nights, loved the QSDP, the mallards and bunnies all over the resort was a plus for us , also. The only negative was the smoking area... which is a BIG negative for us, because we hated to have to smell smoke walking to the food court. I am going to post some pics... already planning next year!! Got to see Kris Allen from American Idol, which was amazing!!!

Hey, whats the deal with the AC? I heard someone say guests could not control it, like in other Disney hotels. Personally, I like to have a cold room. So whats going on with that? Did I hear correctly?

Oh noooooo, with out AC I can not sleep:rotfl2: I have to control It or It has to be on the freezing setting! one of my favorit things Is to come back from the park,It being 85 to 90+ and walk In to that room Its a moment of pure love:love:

You lucky! Did you see Kris perform? How awesome is that! I love that you have your next countdown already up!:thumbsup2

I saw Pikester's post asking about the bathroom door to hang the hanging shoe holder - my question is, is there somewhere else to hang one of these holders? We are going to POP the end of the month and i love the idea of bringing the shoe holder along to store items, but was wondering where in the room you could hang it? Thanks,:)

I tried but the phone isn't working So my mom and I went to the lobby and find another room! But it is fulled up and stay the room! and no one came and fix the tv and the phone! So! for my birthday we are going to stay in All-Star Movies! Oh! one more thing he speaking chinesse! and Our family can't speak chinesse!

I think you must've had some miscommunication or something. The CM's would be biligual, so if he spoke chineese, he would also speak english or been able to get someone to help you. Even if they are full they can replace the TV and or phone. Maybe you weren't working it right. Sometimes at hotels (I can't remember at disney as DH is a remote hog) the TV comes on blank and then you have to hit menu or click up and down to get your channels. I'm pretty sure Disney is like this too, but I could be wrong. Also with using the phone, did you read the directions. alot of times if yo uare dialing out you need to dial a number like 9 first to get an outside line. I rarely use the phones as I hace a cell phone with me. When I do use it I am just retrieving a message or calling housekeeping, which wil ltell you on the list of instructions on how to do it.
Anyways, it should've been fixed or replaced. Did you ask at the desk? or concierage? I'm guessing the message was not properly relayed to them and they didn't undertand your problem. Usually someone wil lbe there in minutes if you have a problem.

Was the person you spoke to the manager? Was there someone else you could have spoken to? Did Disney move you to All-Star Movies or are you doing this on your own? I hope you're not paying for an extra room.

They've been home for several weeks now. She plans to do AllStars next Jan.

HI!

We had a thermostat in our room and we could control the temperature ourselves... we found that it worked well and our room was always as cool as we wanted it!

The rooms can be controled, but if the sensor isn't prompted it will stop running for so long. I personally haven;t had much problem at all either, the room has always been col or even to cold when we got back from the parks. Sometimes I find it a little warm at night. We did the ballon one year and it did help.

Hello POPers!

I have a question regarding the bathroom door. How thick is it? I brought an over the door shoe holder when I went in Dec 2008 but the metal over the door hooks were to narrow. My DH had to hang the holder off of the mirror. I would like to make some new hooks for the shoe holder but am not sure how wide to make them hence me needing to know the thickness of the bathroom door.

I saw Pikester's post asking about the bathroom door to hang the hanging shoe holder - my question is, is there somewhere else to hang one of these holders? I would NOT do the over the door she hangers. They block the mirror and like you said it's hard to get a fit. We do the ones that have a hanger on them and fit in the closet. You can get them for a buck at the dollar stores. These worked perfectly.

I read somewhere about fooling the air conditioner with a balloon that floats around the room to keep it perking. Does this trick work at Pop or was it Coronada Springs that I read this about?

"On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours."

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

It did for us.

Are those Pop directions? Becuase I have read several different ones and tried them all and none work for Pop so far. I have read that Pops system is different than most of the other resorts.

Worked for us. :)

I have yet to see a thermostat at Pop Century that has a power button. I believe they exist but I haven't seen one in the 6 different rooms I've stayed in.

We've stayed there 5 times and used this method twice. Have not tried it at during our stays at a moderate or when we've been at Poly, GF, CR (although wish we'd tried it at Poly last stay).

Copied the quote from the CSR thread, but saved it and used it the last two stays at POP. :thumbsup2

Did not even know that Kris was there, because I did not have internet while there! Walked into Hollywood Studios for Star Wars and there was Kris in a parade, then got to see him sing. I am still AMAZED!!!

Yeah, I know they're out there. It's strange that I haven't seen one yet. I had printed out those instructions and was all ready to use them a few years ago but I couldn't find the power button. Oh well, maybe next time.

I have a non-POP question .. we will be staying at POP 6/28-7/05/09 and I purchased the QS meal plan which fits DH and DS's personalities best; but, if we wanted to do a sit down meal somewhere like at Epcot at one of the countries, what are our chances of walking in without a prior reservation? I know this is a busy time of year, but do those restaurants still take walk-ins and is it a huge wait?:)

Probably slim to none, but.......you never know till you try.

I would call TODAY and see if you can make ADRs for any of the restaurants. Your chance of walking in and getting a table without ADRs, especially on or near July 4th, is slim to none.

How exciting - I would have loved to see Kris Allen.
