hello everyone!
I was reading about the refrigerator and was wondering if they will charge us for it? My mom has Diabetes and she needs cold juices in case her blood sugar drops. I was planning on getting one anyways but if we could save money that would be good.
Thanks

It should be free. I would call in advance to have them make a note on your reservation. Then bring some offical thing (doctor's note, etc) when you check in, just in case.

I'd definitely check. I've heard that for medicines it's free, but have seen other people say they were turned down (or charged) for kids who needed a certain kind of milk (soy maybe?) and had to have it kept cold. Maybe there's a difference between allergies and diabetes in their minds. I might just say you need it for medical reasons and have the doctor write (just in case) a vague "x needs a refrigerator for medical reasons" and leave it at that.

Is your mother on insulin? We have always gotten a free fridge to keep DH's insulin cool.

Hi everyone, live from pop.

Having a great time. DD went to BBB today and was made up as princess jasmine. It is raining outside right now but I don't mind. :goodvibes

HaHa Greeeat... so for someone who HATES HOT weather, and crowds, I was an idiot for planning Disney for my birthday, :rotfl2:. Oh well! too late now, Ill just grin and bear it, I mean it IS Disney, so I shouldn't have to try too hard.

1. No worries: July 6th is a great day to be born (my DD birthday) I am actually thinking of taking her for two days since we have voucher on American.

2. For 4th of July I would plan on hitting the parks as soon as they open and staying until noon. Then enjoy the pool during the hottest part of the day. In the evening a special dinner (Narcoosee or California Grill maybe) or one of the minature golf courses.

3. Have a great time your at Disney.

Wow I have never "met" someone who shared my Birthday! Awesome!

I plan on doing a park that AM, not sure which one yet, then like you said take a break mid day (tho we will prob do so more like 3ish) I made dinner resies at Grand Floridian Cafe at 6:50 (ate there in March and LOVED it) than hop on the Monorail to POLY to grab a drink and watch the fireworks from the beach (did that in March too, by far my favorite spot to watch the fireworks now! No where else compairs, even IN the park). The next 2 days I'll figure out in a few days (LOL)

2 Questions:

1) sorry in advance because I know it's probably posted here somewhere but how early in the morning can we check in? (I realize we might not get into a room early but I want my tickets)

2) Is there an up charge for postcard stamps sold at the gift shop?

TIA:goodvibes

I have checked in at 7:30am to make rope door. I did not get in the rm that early but did get the tickets, hopped on the PC bus and made it to rope drop.

If for some reason you cannot get the fridge at no charge you could also try joining a fridge swap. On the first page of this thread there is a link that should take you to all the current swaps at POP. I did this in March, it was really nice having a fridge in the room without having to pay the $10+/night. Good Luck

Have a question for anyone that just got back from Pop,

How's the Love Bug Population, are they out in full force yet or just getting started ?

I'll tell you something, I went in September one year and holy crap! It was ridiculous. You would walk out of your room and they'd be lying there on the ground. Cast members would be sweeping them up/spraying them up with the hose. One day walking into the Magic Kingdom there were swarms of them. They just flew right into you.

In the Magic Kingdom or any of the parks themselves was fine for some reason but outside and in the resorts, wow. It didn't last all week though. It was only REALLY bad for a couple of days and it barely ruined our vacation.

Just got our ME luggage tags...only 39 days until my husband and kiddos first trip and our first stay onsite at the POP...I can not wait.

Just got back late monday night and not a single Love Bug in sight at Pop or anywhere we were in the parks. We commented on how few bugs we saw even flying around, so if you are going soon I would not have real worries over them unless they show up quickly there

Call and have that put on your reservation. They may consider it a medical need and not charge you. It would be good if you could get a doctor's note.

hi guys! ive looked through the first post- and ill never catch up with the rest of the thread. im in a quandry. dd has cp and finds it very hard to go long distances, she also wears an eye patch which gives her vision issues. i have discussed this with my ta and she has suggested that we get a preferred room. since this would be for medical reason, can we not ask for a closer room for ourselves and not be charged? i know you can request it, but that doesnt gaurantee it. we cant use a hnadicapped one, as there will be hubby and i her and ds in a crib. im just opposed to paying for a preferred room when a they aren't nessicarily any closer and b it is for a medical condition. thoughts?

i may be wrong, but arent they prohibited from asking you to show proof of any kind of disability/medical condition? i know if you ask for a medical tag at the parks they cannot ask you as its us law. i would presume if you explain the situation to them they wouldn't. is she insulin dependant? i know some insulin is to be kept in the fridge- so there may be your loop hole.

I think that's only in case of employment, but I could be wrong as well. Nothing wrong with preemptively offering the information however - just to help get one. I just briefly skimmed the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I know when we go get our GAC, we bring a doctor's note, just in case.

no i believe i read on here somehwere in the disabilities board if youre looking for that pass/ticket whatever its called(name escapes me at this moment) if you go to guest relatiosn and say you need it for said condition and tell them what you need- ie shade, a seat etc, they cannot ask you for proof. so i would think the fridge is the same kinda dealy.
