The Great Disney Scavenger Hunt - Answers

Some AK 'corrections':

24) Styracosaurus
31) eat it?
67) we got eel for this one?
84) we thought the symbol was a pine cone?
92) 1544 & 1948
1st step: anteater
2nd step: 15 hours in Oasis
3rd step: Maharajah Jungle Trek on Braille map
4th step: Sign at entrance to Jungle Trek mentions two dates.

P.S. This park desperately needed 4 hours!!

21) I've got 15 cents per pound
39) hero hunny
48) we got Southern Pacific!
50) seen pictures of two lanterns lit?
67) we got Carolwood Pacific

21 - I put both since I'm not sure which right?
39 - thanks! I couldn't read it on any on the videos I watched - it was driving me crazy
48 - hmmm. I can't see them well enough to tell:
IMG_0525.JPG

50 - I swore there was just one, made an update to the answer though
67 - I admit I didn't see it during the hunt, but used this picture:
Train%20Station%202.jpg

11) we got Donald & Pluto
57) definitely B. Jones
60) we got Walter E. Disney

11 - I think we need a picture, goofy or pluto?

60 - this makes sense, and that's what I remembered. made a note on the answers

92) 1544 & 1948
P.S. This park desperately needed 4 hours!!

67 - I thought it was an eel as well ?
92 - very good. I remember now that I got anteater and made it to the step about the braille map -- but then we ran out of time.

And I definitely agree: 4 hours would have been helpful here!

I agree 100%. It's all I want to talk about to anybody who will listen!

But most people I've encountered aren't big enough Disney fans to talk about it for long enough to suit my taste. :yay:

for MK 48 we got North Western -as I recall there was one pin that said it and one that said NW Line.

I'm looking forward to our 10 day trip in September when we'll have time to go through and do these again (checking some answers and doing some for the first time).

Question has anyone printed off the pictures of the books do they print well? I'm thinking about typing up the questions into a word doc and then arranging them into areas (Adventureland, Dinoland etc) and then printing it out to make it easier. :rotfl:

On the original thread about the hunt, a guy said he printed the pdfs (linked on page 1) and they turned out pretty well. I know a few pages don't look quite as good, so I have to imagine some are better than others.

If you do retype them, will you post it?

(BTW - a little help, maybe, some of the better images might work with your basic OCR reader to make this a little easier; some of these character readers can take a pdf and simply read the letters and create a text document)

Some DHS 'corrections':

14) A Star is Born
21) definitely Prospect Ave.
22) I don't have a picture, but the brand is No-Nox or N'er-Nox?
29) We thought it was a greyhound
37) West Coast Univ.
64) Aldo & Andrea Favilli
65) Marie
71) North Vine St.
75) Gower St.
92) sailboat?

By the way, what was everybody's score?
We didn't do as well as we wanted, especially at the Magic Kingdom, which was our first park! We scored the highest at our last park, DHS.
We had a total of 619 points (out of 895) for 71st place!

21 - thanks, I think this is indeed correct
22 - I didn't take a picture. I do remember it had Nox in it though, and it asked for the "brand"
29 - it was a dalmation. I thought it was a greyhound as well, until I zoomed in with my camera. I can't upload at the moment, but here's another pic of the same sign http://www.flickr.com/photos/takeleus/4224138938/
64 - d'oh!, that was a typo on my part, probably because I couldn't read my own notes. L:rotfl:
65 - "Samantha" was the name on the one near the American Idol theather. I'm pretty sure "Marie" was in the other location (by Star Tours)
92 - yes it was a sailing ship of some kind - I updated it

We scored exactly in the middle with 480 points. I'm sure we lost some points due to my handwriting :rolleyes1 And I think we also missed specifics a couple of times (ie the "brand" name)

We are getting really close on the answers. Here's what's left:

MK uncertainties:
#50 - how many lanterns are lit in the window?

Epcot uncertainties:
#70 - what is the doll petting in the bear shop in Germany?

AK uncertainties:
#40 - vehicle identification in dinosaur?
#67 - predator in pursuit of a crab?

Studios
Complete! (woohoo!)

...and of course if anyone has corrections or additions please add them...

For AK #24, the question reads which dinosaur is "definitely not our dino?" The Styracosaurus is mentioned first as "not our dino", and then the Sauropod is "still not our dino". Then the Carnotaurus appears and Dr. Seeker says "definitely not our dino." I believe the answer is Carnotaurus.

We are getting really close on the answers. Here's what's left:

MK unanswered:
#45 - As indicated just above the brand name, what is the number of the stove found inside the Frontierland Train Station?

MK uncertainties:
#48 - which pin is repeated in the shadowbox?
#50 - how many lanterns are lit in the window?
#67 - where is the first departing train travelling to?

Epcot unanswered:
(none)

Epcot uncertainties:
#11 - whose face appears in the clocks at Mousegear?
#70 - what is the teddy bear holding in Germany?

AK unanswered:
#61 - Find the "small trader's license" near the Tour Booking Desk in the queue for Kilamanjaro Safaris. Where are the "premises situated?"

AK uncertainties:
#67 - predator in pursuit of a crab?

Studios unanswered
(none)

Studios uncertainties
#35 - handprints at the animation courtyard - who is in the center?

...and of course if anyone has corrections or additions please add them...

So frustrating. I clearly remember finding the answers to all of the above questions (I went through and deleted the ones I know we didn't get). And considering our final score (677), we were almost certainly right on our answers for them. BUT, I have no idea what any of them were. I just wrote things down and moved on to the next question so quickly, I don't have any memory of the actual answers. Annoying!! Especially since each of these questions we made an actual effort to find. I clearly remember finding the courtyard in the animation building at DHS and the Small Traders License at AK (which required a flashlight to find the answer since it was tiny and dark), along with the predator in the Flame Tree area (that one since there were so many of those type of questions and we went back in 3 times to find them all). GRRRR!

Tiresius - funny you mention that. We were moving along at a quick pace and writing down answers. We spent a fair amount of time with some questions, and when I looked at the question after the fact I immediately went "duh...." and drew a blank. I was so sure I'd remember!!!

Another thing in retrospect, I should have taken another set of pictures just before we turned the book in - it only took a minute or two to snap them all, and now I see it would have been worthwhile.

Lessons learned, I suppose.

But that's where this discussion comes in handy. At least we can share the answers we *think* are correct and revisit the answers on our respective next trips.

I find this discussion somewhat therapeutic in that it wasn't just me who feels this way.

OK here goes I'm going to try typing out the questions from the hunt and then copy/ pasting them into a word doc for our next visit. Then (just FYI) I intend to sort them (in another word doc) so they're logically arranged by area.

Note: this is MK only I'll do the other parks in follow up posts

Hi All

I'm still working on typing up the questions - it's actually rather fun - we didn't get to a lot of them!

If anyone has a minute I'd be grateful if you'd take a peek at MK 82 and confirm the numbers. I think they're all correct but it was one of the pages that was harder to read and I just want to make sure they're all correct.

Thanks!

As luck would have it, a friend of mine had pictures of his book - so I went ahead and updated the images that were fuzzy. http://disneypodcast.net/pics/hunt/mk.pdf

It is kind of fun, isn't it?

The only question that has not been answered (or should I say had an attempt at an answer) is the AK one about the distance to the Kujikwaa Tembo lodge...

I am vexed, and can't find much online about it. Though I did find this picture from the queue at Kilamanjaro Safaris which shows the lodge on the top right.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b84/steerr/Nov604316.jpg

But there's no distance?? Maybe there's another picture somewhere?
