Yes eat OF it. Nice. ->

68, Right, it was a snake, and that makes #67 likely to be the eel.

Another answer for 84...tricky.

BTW, here's the sign for the "unsafe area" that answers number 52, though the word "area" is obscured in this pic.

I'm fairly certain the answer to MK #48 is "Santa Fe"

If you look at the shadowbox from a previous post, in the middle toward the bottom is clearly this one:
Santa%20Fe%20Logo.gif

And in the upper right *I think* is this one:
bnsflogo.jpg

Two things about the answer: (1) they are actually "different" railroads. One is Santa Fe (which ran out of the southwest), and the other is the Burlington Northern Railway, which was run in the northeast by the santa fe company.

And (2) the fact that they each have the + in them is indicative of them being from the same railway

I don't remember 'eel' being an answer to any of the Flametree BBQ questions. I thought (could remember it wrong) it was a bird of some type chasing the crab. Wish we had a picture

Also is there a photo anywhere for the circle question in Camp M-M?

You might be right on the Flametree question. Now its been long enough that I don't remember exactly!

As for the sign, I found this picture, but its hard to make out the symbols.
27810818.jpg

However, it *looks like* this sign has the same symbols?
kids+discovery+club+logo.jpg

So basically, you can count the letters on the first one, and use the second to go around.

Or are they not the same?

That's 33 letters, and starting from the centipede as #1, moving clockwise is a blobby thing on the lower right - or at least I think it is. Once again, their thought and my thought may be different - I'm counting the two that look like they're together as two separate items.

That's an egg? [please correct me if you feel differently]

I think we're landing on the same space, but I don't feel it is an egg (or an arrowhead!) It's more like a pine cone, which fits in more with the theming of this area, which is supposed to be a summer camp type location in the Adirondack Mountains. We took pictures of all of our answers, and I've added up the points for the ones we got right according to your list, and the total points almost comes out perfect, so we must have gotten this one right.

Alright - I'll agree that its a pinecone. I'll update the list - good work.

We said 'egg' but I can see it as a pinecone.

I just wish the symbol had been clearer. We stood there for a bit debating what it was and 'egg' was the best we could come up with. Score-wise it didn't really matter in our case but it is frustrating if we got the right 'place' but came up with the wrong answer (ie called the 'pinecone' an 'egg').

I'm going to throw a wrench into one of the answers

in MK

75 According to the exterior signage, in what year was the Emporium founded on Main Street U.S.A?

the answer posted here is 1863

We didn't find the sign during the hunt but a day or 2 later we saw 2 different signs

- one was kind of small oval or round and maybe silver-ish. It said "est 1901" (not sure of the exact date but about that).

- very close by was a larger sign (signifcantly larger) that said "since 1863"

I have to wonder which one is "correct" as neither specifically (as I recall) used the term "founded". Does anyone have pictures of the 2 signs and do you know which is the answer they were looking for?

I can straighten this one out!
The original Emporium (i.e. before expansion) was established (founded?) in 1863. The sign that states this is over the second main entrance, which faces the intersection of Main and Center Streets. The Emporium was expanded in roughly 2001, during the 100 years celebration, which wiped out West Center St. This addition has the Est. 1901 over the door, which was put there to commemorate the birth year of Walt Disney.
Hope that helps!

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you, esp to GMDD!!

I can't wait to try this scavenger hunt on a future trip. Your hard work writing up the questions all in one document is fabulous!! I can't tell you how grateful I am that you are doing this AND sharing it with us.

Now to try my hand at the hunt and then compare to the answer doc...:goodvibes I figure by the time I get back to try this, you all will have your answers sorted out!:thumbsup2

I know you all had a great time doing this. I wish I was the CM who got to go around and pick the questions/items from the park. Wouldn't that have been a fun assignment!?

That's pretty much it. I was a CM in the Emporium pre-expansion, and there are two things they taught us to set the mood: (1) the store was established in 1863, and (2) the proprietor was Osh Popham. Funny the things that we remember...

Anyway, here's a pic showing both signs:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_WtAAAJIiuk4/SX9XXljENbI/AAAAAAAACOE/6tdbkzKAOVw/s1600-h/IMG_2332.JPG

The 1863 is on the building to the left. The 1901 sign is on the blue plaque near the bottom middle of the picture, though its small.

On another post:

That would rock!!!

The pinecone question - we didn't even make it to camp Minnie-Mickey the day of the hunt. A couple of the answers I already knew from previous visits; I even had a few pictures on my phone of things like Donald fishing. I didn't know what was on the sign for the kids club, so we skipped that question. I am pretty sure if we had tried to get it my hunt partner and I would have said "uhhhhh..." and likely would have said egg.

I found a picture of the truck near anaheim produce (#53, studios) where you can read the plate #. The deal is (was?) that the truck was closer to the Toluca Turkey Leg co...though it was not there on hunt day.

thanks that does help! It's kind of good we didn't find the signs during the hunt or we would have debated which one was the 'right' answer and honestly I think we would have leaned towards the 1901 since to us it somehow looked more 'official'!

Question about AK 85

85 COMFORTING CREATURE CALCULATIONS

- Count the total number of oversized creatures adorning the lampposts near Creature Comforts and First Aid.

- Subtract the number of letters that form that creature's name (use singular form of the common name used in the U.S.)

- Add the number of giraffe heads found under the awnings around the exterior of Creature Comforts.

- With your final number, stand underneath the tail of the large zebra inside the store. Facing the nearby window, notice a creature printed in the closest "box" outlined in green

- Counting this box as your starting point (place "zero") count to the left by your final number to identify another box.

As your answer, write the generic type of animal depicted in the box.

the answer posted here (answer key) is "fish" I seem to recall we got "cheetah". Now given the way the question is phrased "write the generic type of animal depicted in the box" - fish makes a lot of sense but I'm wondering where we went wrong

I seem to recall finding 4 large lady bugs

minus the words lady bug - 8 letters so we'd have -4

then we found (as I recall) 15 giraffes - so answer is currently 11

then we found the correct box and counted 11 over to the left. Did we just count wrong? any ideas? I can't wait for September when we can go back and redo this at a more leisurely pace.

85 COMFORTING CREATURE CALCULATIONS

- Count the total number of oversized creatures adorning the lampposts near Creature Comforts and First Aid.

{edit}

I seem to recall finding 4 large lady bugs.

The answer is that there is more than one lamp post, each with 4 lady bugs on them. There's one right outside the first aid, and another a little farther up the path, and I think the third one is closer to the other side of the building. So the number in the first part is 12. (I still might be off, but I am certain there was more than one lamp post, so the number was 8, 12, or maybe 16?).

There's one right outside the first aid, and another a little farther up the path, and I think the third one is closer to the other side of the building. So the number in the first part is 12. (I still might be off, but I am certain there was more than one lamp post, so the number was 8, 12, or maybe 16?).

yes, just talked to DD and she remembers 8 lady bugs - we must have counted wrong or something I wish I knew what we did but at least we can go check in September

Regarding the Dawa Bar showers question - we looked for the sign but didn't see it - should have at least guessed Dawa Bar !

Cool - that means the Studios answer key is done!

But as always, if anyone catches what they think is a mistake, I leave it open to discuss!!!

Oh and GMDD, one other little typo in AK question 53 (might be off by a couple?) "Shangri-La Trekker's Inn in Asis" I think you meant Asia. :)

There are two questions that are still driving me nuts. The first is the question from epcot about a doll petting what animal.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg8/wdwmemories/2WO/epcot-germany-disney-picture-063.jpg

Okay, I found this picture, and if you enlarge the photo, move all the way down, and most of the way to the right, you can see a shelf with some toys on it. On the left of the shelf, under the wing of the airplane, there appears to be a doll petting a lamb. That's what I remember seeing during the hunt....

But is this the right answer? Will we ever know?''

The other one that's bugging me is the lone unanswered question in the AK. Where is that rock that tells us the distance to the lodge?
