The Good, The Bad, & the Nuts! ...ANYONE GOING MAY 8-15?

Tanya, I sent you my answers to ALL questions by PM so that Marv doesn't cheat and copy my answers. ;)

I see that I have something in my inbox - I will go read it when I get caught up on here.

Good plan! :thumbsup2
That would work wouldn't it! :)

:lmao: Knowing Marv he will follow Tanya around all vacation making sure the things she does match his answers!
:rotfl: I don't know if it would be worth it:confused3 If nothing else, he would get another week or so added on to his vacation :thumbsup2 since he's leaving soon after I get there.

Twenty days to go.....

Twenty years ago in the summer of 1991 these hats were seen

img016.jpg

Baby Sean (well 2 year old Sean) with his personalized Mickey Sailor hat on his first trip to Disney World. Looks excited doesn't he

img017.jpg

We were in Florida for Steve's boot camp graduation
smilesail.gif
David (who appeared in Mark's graduation picture) is the skinny little kid

img018.jpg

On his free day before the graduation ceremony we took Steve and two of his friends to Magic Kingdom with us. Steve introduce Sean to another sea-faring man!

No hats in these but wanted to share them anyway
img019.jpg

This is the stage at the American pavilion - you used to be able to see all the way to the ball from there - no back wall on the stage, no ugly purple shady things....

img020.jpg

And this is why I carry a sunblock stick everywhere now! Look at how purple my nose is! It really burns terribly. I blame it on all the cool mirrored sunglasses I used to wear all the time

- I think they reflected of my lenses and fried my nose so many times that any little bit of sun fries it now :scared1:

20 Hat Days to go!

Is it just me or does this paragraph of an obituary seem "odd". It was obviously written by the current wife (especially the part that I didn't copy that talked about him enjoying their trips together)

(names have been changed)
"On Oct. 29, 2000, Tom married Kathy , which created an extended blessed family for Tom with Kathy's son, Dave, and daughter, Connie.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy of W--field; his brother, Larry (and Pam) of ---burg; stepsons, Bob. of A----s and Dave of W---; a granddaughter, Emma of O---; grandsons Ted and Lou of W---; his mother-in-law, Mildred of W---field; and four children from his first marriage, 10 additional grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joy, daughter Connie, granddaughter Jenny and grandson, Rob. "

What stood out to me is that all of his step kids are listed by name, but none of his natural-born children or grandkids are. Shoot even his mother-in-law is listed by name. It says the four kids were by his first wife, one of the step-sons is by his third wife....the one he widowed is (at least) his 4th wife.

His son (one of the 4 kids not named) was my high school boyfriend. One of the step-sons listed was a year or so younger than him and I got to be friends with him while we were dating. There were other step-kids from his second wife - but I never knew them. He may not have remained in contact with them, so that could be why they weren't listed. I know my old boyfriend remained in touch with his dad. He probably didnt see a lot of his dad because he (the boyfriend) was career Air Force, when he got out he remained as a civilian working on base and has never moved back to the area. His two older sisters didn't have a lot to do with their dad (when I was in the picture) because of hard feelings from the divorce from their mother, the younger sister still saw him, but she was in Jr High at that time - I don't know if she maintained a relationship after she got older or not. But I still personally think this reads kind of crummy.

That is really wrong! It's like the current wife has to prove a point even in death.

Woo-hoo for 20 days!

I agree, that is very wrong. His natural children should have been named.

Glad I'm not alone in thinking that. I didn't know if I was being overly sensitive to it because my connection to this man is through one of his "nameless children" or if others would feel the same way with no connection.

I felt it would be as if when my husband dies I would write his obituary that he was survived by "Sean, Ryne & Mark and two other sons" instead of Steve and David :sad2:

Today is the first day of yard-sale week-end in Fairview...

So what should we put in the yard sale???

19 Hat Days to go!

I guess I will be going to Chicago tomorrow to watch the Cubbies win (:lmao:) Unless we get home at a decent time and I'm not too tired to get on here, I may have to postpone tomorrow's Hat-count until Sunday. I know, you all are heartbroken:sad1: Danny says that we need to get up around 4 in the morning :scared1: so unless I get some napping on the bus you won't see me until Sunday.

Tanya, that is the funniest darn thing I have heard in weeks. The Cubs winning? :lmao::lmao::lmao: As my son posted on FB the other day, they ought to just forfeit the rest of the season -- they truly are pathetic. I hope you have fun though; drink lots of fluids...it's going to be a hot one.

I know, aren't they awful :sad2: Mark was supposed to go. This is the kid who was mad that we were going to Disney World last year because he was going to miss one of the bus trips to a Cubs game. And he doesn't even want to go.....he asked me to take his place so he can stay home and help mom with the yard sale. :confused3 I'm regretting saying I would take his place.....I don't know how I am going to like sitting out in the hot muggy stadium all day. Maybe that's when I will take a nap! :rotfl2:

Got up at 4AM.
Left home at 4:50AM.
Got to Schnucks to pick up ice, water and donuts for the bus trip around 5:45 AM.
Got the bus ready to load (trash bags and paper towel for all the seats; beer, soda & water on ice; seats save for large groups traveling together by 6:30.
Moved from "prep area" to "loading area", all bus trip people loaded and on the road by 7AM.
Arrive at Wrigley Field at 10:35AM
Got a hot dog and diet pepsi and went to our seats at 10:45AM
Sat and people watched, visited with other travelers, watched Andre Dawson throw out the first pitch, listened to National Anthem until 12:04PM
Heard young child call out "Play Ball!" at 12:05PM
Three outs and maybe 20 or 30 minutes later we were down 3-0 and the game was basically over. (Apparently the Cubs weren't listening when the boy said to "Play Ball:confused3"
From then on it was just waiting for the misery to end (I think it ended 13-3)....and entertaining Kathy on FB!

So here is today's hat picture!

18 Hat Days to go!

It's supposed to be incredibly hot here this coming week....

This is what Tanya looks like when she is melting

DSC_1572.jpg

Of course, that is also when she is exhausted, so I am hoping to not be so miserable looking this year!

oh - now that I see that picture full-size, it looks like my eyes are closed behind my sunglases! That picture was mixed in the middle of a ton of pictures of the castle show. So I imagined I was parked out in the son, sitting on the scooter so I couldn't see well over everybody and decided to rest...:rolleyes1

17 Hat Days to go!

Had a doctor's appointment over in Peoria today. This will be my last appointment with this doctor. All of my labs look "great" and/or "perfect" :cool1: The only change is adding some blood pressure medication. I used to be on some years ago before I started dialysis. Once I was on the dialysis I no longer needed it. Now that I am off (:cheer2:) it looks like I need the medicine again.

After my doctor's appointment I went over to Danny's office and waited a few minutes for his lunch break. Then him and his buddy Walt and I all went to lunch.

Meet Walt!

16 Hat Days to go!

Since the heat has fried my brain and I can no longer think of any pertinent tie-ins with my pictures and the date I will just do some random stuff

Today is Mark - and where he rates himself in the "food chain"

15 Hat Days to go!

Sticking with Mark - here are some of the crazy "hats" he has had to wear at home...

DSC_1907.jpg

These were from the play he did his freshaman year "Captain Fantastic". He played a ruthless business man, and in the "dream sequence" or whatever it was where all the characters became comic book characters, he was the "Swamp Monster".

The middle picture is him and the director with his gift from the cast - a "Captain Action" costume.

And the final picture is a cast picture with a variety of crazy hats - there are the "Bucket Heads", and the "Rat Patrol" along with some other super heroes and villains. :rotfl:
