I am about 20 days or less from the 180 day mark - ADR time. Of course, nobody here has any suggestions

they will save those until the trip is half over and then ask why we aren't eating at "
wherever".

Since we have never been to Whispering Canyon Cafe, and since I have read about it on different TRs I thought I would ask for opinions.
I have picky eaters in my bunch. They are definitely in their comfort zone with burgers, fried chicken, meatloaf, and chicken strips. They will stray from that if it is not "too weird".

DH doesn't like spicy food (loves chili - won't eat tacos or most BBQ), DS#1 is most likely to branch out, DS#2 is least likely - would live on peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets if allowed, DS#3 is somewhere in between. None of them are overly enthused by vegetables. Corn and potatoes are "approved".
So with their bland little taste buds in mind - does WCC sound like a potential winner for them? Is there any significant difference between lunch and dinner. More importantly, are the "antics" most likely to occur earlier or later in the day? They do enjoy the atmosphere at Prime Time, so, not having ever been to WCC, I am thinking if they can handle Prime Time they could handle WCC.
I'm trying to get them to try different places - drug them all over to Trails End last year. of course, the boys moaned and groaned about having to leave the parks and go "clear over there" - but I think it would be nice to take a break and check out a new resort.
I'm also curious about the Ranger and his tour. Is that something you have to make a reservation for or if you are there do you just ask if he is available? I think that would be neat, and I think DH may enoy it - don't know if the boys would or not, but if we scheduled it before eating the boys wouldn't have to come until or mealtime, or if we scheduled it afterwards, the boys could leave without seeing the tour.
I assume the easiest way to get there is a boat from Magic Kingdom
