This was the best news I heard today, and I am just plain thrilled to hear it!!!

Thanks to all you wonderful people for your well wishes. I would say I am :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana::banana: But only on the inside!:lmao: you all will have to the actual dancing for me :thumbsup2:grouphug:

I tell you.....what a week. Sundae night I couldn't sleep worth a darn, must have woke up half a dozen times. Went back to Morton Monday so he could recheck my fistula. The didn't run an iv and Paine Mede, the numbed the area, inserted into the fistula to run dye to see if I loosened up with just the blood thinners. It was better but he went ahead and gave me some versed (?) thru that incision (just a needle hole) and ballooned it a couple times. We mad the massive mistake of going to cracker barrel where I had a large orange juice, a glass of ice water.....maybe closer to two, and a little over a cup of coffee. I was dry! I ordered French toast, bacon and eggs. I got down one piece if toast, one piece of bacon, but the texture of the egg really turned me off. In
the time it took me to eat that, he had catfish strips mashed potatoes, applesauce and some other vegetable, and a corn muffin. I didn't feel sick, just exhausted. I dozed the 50 minute drive home.
Got home, sat down, stood up and bent over to get my blanket, and could feel it all coming up. Luckily the old Halloween candy bowl was right ther on the couch. A huge metal mixing bowl so the couch abd carpetvwere sprared. The candy was a loss, but it was feeling unloved by that point anyway. I slept in my chair for 4 hours, watched tv for 3, and went to bedvaround 10. I usually go back to sleep once the kids leave for school but wasn't tired. I didn't feel right. Poured a warm mt dew in a glass and sipped it all morning. At 845 the nurse from Morton called to ck on me as a post procedural check. Later that day my nurse calledvwith my lab results from last weds appt, with me being bust fri and Monday she hadn't had a chance. About 3 my driver who delivers my dialysis supplies called and asked if he could go ahead and bring them in about half an hour instead of 630 the next morning. I went back and sat down and my cell phone rang with the on call dialysis nurse......which is how I labeled it but it's really the hospital switchboard. It was about 320 on Tuesday and she said they had good new, the had a kidney that dr ketel wanted to accept on mynbehalf. You would think I'd have been thrilled, butvi was still drained, sore, and light headed from my blood pressure being so very low. As low as66/51 that morning.

She asked if I could come right in. I told her I was in no shape to drive and it would be close to 2hours for Danny to come home and get back. She was ok with that but the sooner the better. We finally decided marke would take me part way and meet up with Danny who would bring me back in. We wound up at the hospital a little before 5. What was funny was he had just aske me about supper.....I told him he could stand t be a little more sympathetic for how crummy I felt. Then in less than 20 minutes I sent him a msge "come get me. They have a kidney for me."

After arrive there was a mad rush for labs, my temp was99.9 but they saw no other signs of infection and decided it was probable the stress of the procedures just completed con my very, very purple and blue arm. My whole upper left arme looks like someone drve their car over it.....hideous!

Once the did labs, the sticky things (ekg?), chest exray, and had me drain off my solution it was sit and wait. 9 I went to pre surgery, about a quarter to 10 I was in surgery. At about 230 I was being moved to icu. My blood pressure was lower so they wanted me there where they could keep a closer eye on me. The took the breathing tube out, but I wasn't breathing as deeply as they liked so the but it back in.

So from wed morning at around 230 until today just before lunch I was in icu. Now I am in a regular room on the renal floor.

They restricted my fluids today. The kidneys started working right away and producing urine, but overnight it decreased, and I was putting on more fluid than the kidneys were pulling off. Now it's back up a little better, so hopefully I will be able to drink again.

As far as my incisions (kidney going in, dialysis tube coming out.....i assume it's 2incisions) they do not hurt.

What an incredible story, Tanya!! Thanks for sharing what you've gone through with us- still asking for a super speedy road to recovery!

Sorry for the abrupt stop....they wanted to walk me down the hall. But my incision(s) do not hurt. I have to puff in the breathing thing to expand my lungs, to cough and loosen any crud leftover from anesthesia....when I cough I get a sharp pain in the incision, but I hold a pillow over my belly before I do my breathing thing. The pain goes right way. I have a drug button I pushed it 3 times in ice....once when they hooked me up, o ce when I noticed I wasn't breathing as deep, and once before they said the were gonna move me. Then when they finally moved me they had me push it to make sure I was all hooked up and I think once more. I'm not being a martyr, I really just have no pain. Well, I do, but it's my throat from the tube and since my fluids are restricted I can't soothe that very well. Hopefully soon.

I wanted to let you all know what was up. I was hesitant when I got the call, because of the low blood pressure, and I thought I might have a slight fever, so in the back of my head I thot they could still say no.

Let me introduce my kidney. He is no saint, in the past 12 months he has spent 3 days in jail, because of that, instead of only at transplant I have to have HIV and hepatitis tests at 3, 6, and 12 months. She said the test they give the kidney is very perceptive, and it was only because of those 3 days that I have to do extra tests. He is younger than me.....I don't know by how much. He was from the chicago area. But my kidney itself looks good, and started working right away. Brets didn't start for 3 or 4 days after transplant. Neither is uncommon. So I don't know what bad things my kidneys previous owner.....he could have been a gang banger, but he could just as easily be a banker with sticky fingers. He hadn't damaged it with drugs so that was "considerate".;)

Well that's about all I know for now.

Oh....as far as my disney trip in august....it's somewhat on hold. I booked my flight for we'd the 3 rd which is 5 months and a week and a half post surgery. They like you to wait 6 months or more. They said not to cancel anything yet, if I do real well, I may still be able to go. I offered to mask up on the plane.....that should get me my own seats! I'm hoping it works out that I can still go. I'm so curious about my weight situation. I obviously don't have the dialysis fluid in my, but weigh more now due to excess fluid retention.

Now I'm available for a future cruise and can go with my husband and his buddy on their vegas/southwest trips. I never wanted to o any of that with all my dialysis supplies. The cruise especially is down the road a ways. But at least now we can start planning fir it.

More good news is marks play is mid April.....I will be able to go to it, and
his graduation. Other than the vague plans of going out to supper with our
friends (she had surgery on her toes and just recently upgraded to a walking
boot......she had pins sticking out her toes for weeks) and an even vaguer plan of a Chicago shopping trip with them. I don't think I will miss anything....nothing major that I can see. The timing is actually practically perfect. Danny is back from Vegas. He did the student run college play last
weekend, the next college play is the week after marks. The worst part is
since dad broke his ankle, he won't be able to help with my extensive dr spots
so unless I can find someone else to give me a ride, Danny will miss a lot of
work.

I will have appts 2-3 times a week for the first few weeks, then weekly, and eventually monthly. I should be able to drive my self 2 or 3 weeks, but he heavy appts are before I can drive.

I CANNOT BE OUTDONE BY MARV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tanya, what a great story and I am so glad everything is working out for you. I am going to go search for you on FB and ask you to be my friend (no comments from the peanut gallery, Marv!).

Hugs and kisses.

ill say it here too....great news and way to go.

ahh FB helping people poke each other from miles away:laughing:

at least i think that is something i heard about FB...im not cool enough to be on it.
:sad2:

I was a facebook holdout, then the aol disney boards were combined with general travel and were no longer Disney specific. We tried a yahoo group, but it was full of hassles, they eventually decided to friend each other on fb.....which meant I had to join up to stay in touch.....so like so much in my life.....it's disneys fault!
