The Frickles Family goes to Disney! How to Valet Park & Make $100! LAST chap p18!

In like Flynn baby!!

Lovin' it and I don't mean a Whopper....or a Big Mac either.. I mean YOU YOU And YOU! :thumbsup2

My dear Frickly friend, I had to check in and re-read and most especially lay my eyeballs on those precious boys of yours!! :dance3:

You know I am a Wishes addict but I am LOL at the image of you doing the Hertz OJ run (for our mature readers) through the fireworks crowd to get to the Dole Whips! I'm gonna enjoy one or five myself on my next trip.

I'm also gonna try your no-puke tip ofor the Vomit cups. I'll have to think on that one since the boys like Shrek to MAKE it go faster.

Your writing is hilarious and I am loving this journey with your family. I always dread packing up to leave too but know you had some fun ahead!

Keep it coming,
Jami

Frick, how the heck did I miss your latest update :confused3

Fabulous as always!!

Rolling out of bed Monday morning, Oct 2nd I had mixed emotions. I was so excited to meet the rest of my Dis friends, yet so bummed about having to pack up our stuff and leave the Happiest Place on Earth. I jumped in the shower, got myself ready, threw zip lock baggies of clothes to the boys for the last time, and began the brutal task of packing.

You know I ALWAYS unpack my suitcase and hang up my clothes and refold everything and get it nicely in a drawer, but I didn’t do that this time. I don’t even think I was in our room long enough (awake) to even do so. In fact, no one unpacked and claimed a drawer or two this time, so packing up went surprisingly well.

We were officially OFF the free dining plan. Ugh. There is no worse feeling. One day you have it, the next day someone else is taking your free food. Our breakfast this morning consisted of Mickey Mouse Rice Krispies Treats that we had collected over the last few days. They were so good. Not as good as a Mickey waffle, but close!

We hauled our luggage to the car and got her loaded up and ready to roll. We bid a fond farewell to our sweet room that we didn’t really get to know. At that moment, I was glad I wasn’t in a deluxe. Seriously, when we went to the Poly last December, we spent more time in our room. We were in early every night because we weren’t parade and fireworks people back then. We would hit it hard during the day and then majorly take it easy at night. We enjoyed lounging on our super comfy beds while watching t.v. as the monorail whizzed by. We sure did love the Poly and since we had some chilly nights and some rain, it was the perfect time to be in a deluxe. POR however was perfect for us this time and we loved it. It is amazing how we can come to the same place yet have two completely different trips. I can’t wait until we go again because we will definitely try an Epcot resort, which I am sure will give us yet another whole new outlook on Disney.

Speaking of Epcot, that is where we were headed. Our plan was for us to meet my friends in Norway for a ride on the thrilling Maelstrom at 11:30. I think. If it wasn’t 11:30, it was somewhere close to that. We had hoped to hit the favorites, Test Track, Soarin and Turtle Talk as well as visit Innoventions East since we missed it our first day. Innoventions East is a hit with our boys. They love to build the robots and race them. I’m not too in to it, but they sure dig it.

When we arrived at Epcot, I was just seriously bummed to see it so crowded. I felt it shouldn't be this crowded because it was Monday and it was the end of free dining and it was mostly empty just three days ago. But, today was the very first day of the Food and Wine Festival. I think. If it wasn’t the first day, it was very close to it. I am amazed at how much I am starting to forget about these details! I’m glad I am at the end of my TR or else my whole report would contain “I think” in every other paragraph. Geesh, am I supposed to be this bad at 35?

We fought the crowds to get through bag check and the ticket scanner. We knew today would be a tough day to fit in all the favorites, so we asked the boys what ride they would like to do most. Lil Frick chose Soarin and Big Frick chose Test Track. We split up to go grab FastPasses for each with the plan to meet at Turtle Talk.

I took Lil Frick with me to grab the Fastpasses for Soarin. He was not a barrel of fun to be with. He was tired of walking and since we were only going to be there for half a day, we weren’t interested in getting a stroller. I had to carry him some, which stunk. He is five. When a five year old gets all whiny and tired and will not walk anymore it is taxing on the momma. Especially if the momma is wanting to do her ‘run’ through the park to get the most out of the day. He killed my buzz, broke my back, made me want to put plugs in my ears and do a shot or three of tequila. He was done. He was ’parked out’. He caused me to get a little sweaty which wasn’t good. Here I was trying to look nice for the meet but I felt like I looked like I had just ran a marathon by the time those FastPasses were secured.

I drug Lil Frick on over to TTwC and we found Mr Frick. The line was ferocious. No deal. We left with some sad boys and wondered what we would do next. There was no way we were going to be able to do the ‘favorites’, squeeze in the meet, play at Innoventions, eat lunch and souvenir shop before the 2:00 deadline we had given ourselves to leave by. We came up with a new plan.

We decided that Mr Frick would take the boys to Innoventions East to build their robots and play while I attended the meet alone. I was cool with that. Mr. Frick was cool with that. The boys were way cool with that. I was seriously glad I wasn’t going to have to haul Lil Frick on over to Norway. His legs and my back would have never made it and I would have left Disney drunk from tequila shots in Mexico.

We separated and I left for my little Dis meet. After a nice walk without having to carry anyone, I ducked in to Mexico to try to fix myself a little. I knew there were going to be pictures made, so I had to do a lil sumpin sumpin to myself to look better. I freshened up the best I could and headed over to Norway to meet my buddies. I contained myself and did not run. I am a Dis Dork, but I didn’t want to look like a real dork in front of them!

Up next: Big smiles, big hugs, and a big time on the Maelstrom!

The FINAL chapter!

First time to check the dis since we left and looky, looky what I found. Another great installment. Glad that you were able to make your meet and can't wait to read about it.

Hi Frick, so great to see a new chapter. Looking really forward to the next one, cause I was THERE! Yeah, Baby!! Hurry up please?????? :)

Wow, I was way behind. It was fun to catch up! You are so funny with all your MK tricks. That baby swap scam was cool. And, well, I love ya, but I can see you having mad skillz with the dazed and confused look!! (NOF!)

I am right now working on the very same chapter. Did you ever find pictures? If not, let me know and I'll share. I had never heard the explanation of why you were alone at the meet. I'm sorry I never got to meet Mr. Frick and those adorable boys. Next time, for sure!!!

Waiting eagerly for the next installment. I want to hear about those crazy Vikings!!!

I have now been sitting at my computer for almost 2 hours reading all about your trip and it's been great! The only draw back is that my butt is numb and I can't feel my feet! Thanks for all the laughs! :rotfl:

I hear you on carrying a child. My six year old in a princess dress in the hot summer heat is not a fass pass.

I am glad you got to get away and go to the meet. Can't wait to hear more.

Frickles: I enjoyed your trip report and also I sent Copper3 here letting him know he is now more infamous. ( Jeff is a great guy who was taking video for the dis dvc ssmc 2006 group.

Amen, sista! Been there, done that. Very cool of Mr. Frick to send you on to the meet alone. Can't wait to hear about it!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You crack me up! And I know you'd do those tequilla shots without tired little frick dragging you down.

BTW, you looked fantastic, as always, when you arrived to meet the gang. Honestly, you are one of those gals who look good in any situation, gorgeous you!

Keep her coming, girl! :thumbsup2

Hey Frick - I think I have a photo of you before you ducked into Mexico :teeth: Want it :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pigget74!!! Welcome back! Hope your trip was a blast! I can't wait to hear about it!

Backstage_Gal!!! Marita I'm working on it! I'm collecting my pics and taking lots of vitamins to boost my memory of the day. It may be a little shotty because I was drinking Tequila in Mexico before I hit Norway.

AshClan!!! Girl I just read the meet Chapter in your TR last night and thanks for the memory boost! I am going to post the exact, same horrific pictures!

winkers!!! I have done the exact thing as you many times and I am thrilled to find out that you thought my TR was good enough to sit through that long!! Thank you!! Hope you didn't have any permanent paralysis.

NAB!! Why must they be carried so much! I think carrying a six yr old in a princess dress would be much worse!!!

cherylp3!!! You have sent Copper3 here?! That is so wild that you know of him and found him here on my TR! He was super nice! Hi Copper3 if you are reading! Thanks cherylp3!

lexmelinda!!!
Hey girl! Mr. Frick is way cool. You know I was worried about him being at Disney, in the crowds, with both boys. eeeekkkkk!!! But he survived it! I think he was secretly doing tequila shots too! :smooth:

horsegirl!!! Horsey dear you know I love you! Thanks for the sweet words!!! And yeah, you know I would probably do those shots. That was a part of my freshening up process in Mexico. TFI.

Grammy!!! I would say that I would pay big bucks for you not to post it. But, I've already posted a 'hungover' shot of me with Minnie Mouse. This one can't be any worse! By the way, after my little primp session, the picture of me in the Maelstrom boat is gagalicious. You all will see. Later. When I get the next chapter written!

Thanks y'all for reading! Many many thanks for the sweet comments! :teeth:

Tell me about it. The only thing worse than that is stopping at Sonny's on the way home after a week of free dining and realizing you're not gettin' an appetizer. And that you're at Sonny's on the way home after a week of free dining.

Geesh, am I supposed to be this bad at 35?

No, but I thought you were 28.

I had to carry him some, which stunk. He is five. When a five year old gets all whiny and tired and will not walk anymore it is taxing on the momma. Here I was trying to look nice for the meet but I felt like I looked like I had just ran a marathon by the time those FastPasses were secured.

This whole thing made me laugh out loud.

Wishes! with a Dole Whip is the way to go. Straight up pineapple was AWESOME! The boys wanted a bite and I think I said no. Well, I gave them one tiny bite and I said no more. This was Momma's treat. I would get them a treat later. They weren’t going to go all postal on my Dole Whip that I waited a year for. It was too good. LaLa, I hope you got your Dole Whip this time.

See, I'm so jealous. I didn't get Wishes with a Dole Whip. Or even a Dole Whip. Or did I?

Frickles my girl, I just got caught up with your trippie and I know I've already told you this but I love it. Your pictures are awesome. You make us feel like we're there with ya, carrying that five year old in the heat and listening to the bickerering family on the Swiss Family Waste of Time and Energy Treehouse.

So keep bringin it, my 89 sista. I'm sad it's almost over but I also can't wait to hear about the meet.

:moped: :moped:

Wherefore art thou, Frick? Just givin' ya a little :bounce:

Oh where, oh where has my Frickles gone. Oh where, oh where she may be. Seriously, miss you are and are waiting. :thumbsup2

Aren't y'all sweet! You dug through all the pages my TR was buried under to bump me!

I have it in the works and will hopefully have it up tomorrow! The holiday madness has slowed down my mojo!!!

Thanks for finding me!!! :teeth:

Just turning the page.... :wave2:

As I left Mexico, I saw a cute little family in front of me at a drink stand. It looked like the Momma, who looked really familiar, was either buying her kids a drink OR buying herself a Big Ole Margarita. I thought it looked like GeorgiaAristocat, but I was unsure so I didn’t do a shout out. If it was her, I would see her in a few anyway.

I made the lovely short walk without any kids weighing me down to Norway. I saw Grammy first and she yelled out my name. I found her wearing Sher’s belt, aka skirt. This skirt was worn by Sher on a DisMeet she had up North with Grammy, Horsey and Pooh. We heard about this skirt for weeks. Sher was sportin a short one and we all knew about it. It was a good thing though because Sher works hard to be so tiny, so she deserved a short lil skirty. Even if she did buy it in the Juniors department. Grammy has got some rockin good legs, so she looked glorious in the short little skirt that we all knew so well. It was a funny way to start the meet!

Haley was already there too and looked cute as a could be in her sporty pink hat. I asked her how she felt yesterday, if she was tired and/or hung over. I can’t remember her answer, but I think she felt better than I did after our girl’s night out. Fsumarchief and GaDisneyGirl, AKA The Whirlwind Trippers, were also there. They are married and have a sweet little guy. Read their TR! These people will make you jealous because they go to the World a lot! Mark can never spell my name right when he types it fast….it comes out as Firck every time. So, of course he said “Hey Firck” when he saw me. They are such sweet people! Rhonda is just a tiny little cute thing and she and Mark are just the type that you automatically feel comfortable around.

Everyone else started to slowly trickle in. Jami appeared with the famous cookies that her friend makes. She talked about them in her trip report starring “The Fixer and the Cookmaster” and my mouth just watered for one based on her description. Now here I was with her and actually eating one of the cookies I had drooled over several months ago! Go and find her TR! It has more pixie dust sprinkled, or shall I say dumped, in it that it is awesome! Jami is awesome and a genuinely sweet soul. I could tell that about her before I ever met her. She told me all about their night at the Cali Grill and their mid-night ride on Splash! I was dying! You must go and read Dorkapalooza by Ash and hear about this night. Jami showed me Zzub’s photo on her camera. Apparently they think he made a guest appearance in their boat!

I got to meet Backstage Gal, Marita. Thankfully Marita was able to break away from work and join us! I also met Javamom and CrashDad. It was CrashDad’s first visit ever to the World! Java is the sweetheart that makes us our cute avatars. She made mine! She is sooooo crafty. Java also made a T-Shirt design for the meet and several of the girls printed it off and made ‘Maelstrom….Is a Fastpass?!?!’ shirts! I think in the pictures you can see that Jami, Java, GeorgiaAristocat and Sher are wearing theirs. Good job Steph! Java is headed to Disney for Christmas! I'm sure her TR will be fabulous as this is the first time they are taking thier children!!

I met some Disser’s I had never heard of before, Shelly and Skippy. Ash arrived and I got to hear all about her ankle, poor thing. Yak came along and handed me a whopping big bag of peanut free granola bars from Canada for Lil Frick! I told you she is a sweetie!

Sher arrived and found her skirt on Grammy! Funny funny. Horsey made it! She was looking cute as ever. Kpk89 and her husband Doug found us (she has an awesome TR The Meanest Mommy going that she just finished! Check it out!!). I had heard all kinds of rumors that she was feeling ill and like she was going to pass out and that she needed to eat. I’m not sure what happened to you Kimmie, but I’m glad you made it!

After all the fun greetings, we made our way over to the playground and got a lovely group picture!

3rdgroup1-1.jpg

Oh wait. That is from the wrong DisMeet. This is from Lou’s Birthday party. My bad.

PICT00381.jpg

Now I can’t sit here and tell you everyone’s name without making a mistake. So I won’t. Horsey do you remember how funny it was getting this picture taken?!?! Even though we were melting and we stood there for a long time, it was just fun!

We moved the party on in to the Maelstrom entrance. Guess what. Hardly a soul was in line. Didn’t need a fast pass after all! I was in the back of the line and Horsey and Ash were up in the front. I remember Horsey yelling “Fricky! Come up here with me!” So, I hurdled the railings to pass the crew and get up front with my girl. I looked so lady like. Fortunately I didn’t bust it in front of everyone.

Here’s our picture before we took off on our journey. It looks as if I really did do those three tequila shots. Here’s proof.
PICT00421.jpg

It also looks like Ash did a few shots with me. Boy is she ever excited about this ride. Actually, we all look drunk. Me looking the worst. Aren’t you all glad that I’m not afraid to post a bad picture? This one is just comical to me. Thank you Ash for the picture that you actually swiped from Grammy! So, thank you Grammy for ALL of these lovely shots.

Here’s the rest of the crew. You can tell everyone is super stoked about the ride!

PICT00431.jpg

PICT00441.jpg

This was my very first ride on Maelstrom and it was THRILLING! Me and my large bag of peanut free Granola bars sat by Ash. I finally got to spend a little time with Ash and all she could do was scare me about the ride. Kidding. But she did tell me we were going to go backwards over the falls. She thinks I believed her….but I didn’t. I had an awesome time sitting by her and behind Horsey. They are such fun people. Our whole boat had fun screaming and finally riding the ride that Mel and Zzub had questioned the fast pass validity of. They became the main reason why we were all there together. We missed you guys, the founders of the very first Maelstrom thread that brought all of us wacky people together. One simple conversation between the two of you ended up being the reason I was in this boat with my new friends having a jolly good time. Many thanks sweet friends!

After the ride, I got my land legs back and started saying my goodbyes. I had to get back to my family. I hated to say goodbye, but I did knowing that I would still be in touch with these funny folks and laughing right along with them again as soon as I returned home. Horsey told me to hurry because they were about to close the theatre doors and I would get stuck in the movie. I wanted to stay. I wanted to eat lunch with them and have margaritas with them and watch Illuminations with them….but my time with these sweet people had come to an end. I hugged her bye and then I ran off. If you were there and I didn’t get to give you a proper good-bye, I am so sorry.

I quickly walked back to Illuminations East to meet the guys. I wondered how many times Mr Frick had lost the children while they were in there. They’re bad to run off in that place because they get so excited! I found them easily and they were having a blast. Mr Frick was glad to see that I hadn’t gotten kidnapped by my cyber friends. I told him all about the meet and thanked him again for watching the boys so I could run along and play for a bit.

We drug the boys out of Innoventions and went to grab some lunch. That we had to pay for. Bah.
The funny thing about our last trip here a year ago was that Lil Frick LOVED his sandwich at the Electric Umbrella. We learned on that trip that the EU food was nothing to write home about, but the little guy had gotten #5, a Philly Cheesesteak, and his tiny little picky eater self hammered down on that sandwich. For months after we had returned from Disney, we would be in the car and he would say “Momma, do you remember #5 at Disney? I really want that sandwich again. It was good”. I’m not kidding. I would crack up. We could be at a restaurant and he would say “Do they have #5 here?”. Bless him. He loves #5. So, even though I had ADRs at the Garden Grill for one last character meal, we chose to go to the Electric Umbrella again to get the little guy his #5. He was so excited.

Mr Frick waited a loooooong time for our food and they boys and I snagged a table upstairs. We could look out our window and see the Balzac stand below us. We had fun giggling at people as they played with the balls. Some would doink their family members in the head. Some were very uncoordinated. It was fun to people watch.

We finally got our food and Lil Frick enjoyed his #5. I got a #5 as well. I didn’t so much enjoy it.

We were down to our last hour at Disney. It was time to split up and ride our last rides. Mr Frick took Lil Frick to Soarin and I took Big Frick to Test Track. We had a great time ruining someone else’s picture, again, by making funny faces before we busted through those doors.

On our way back to the meeting place, we dashed in to Mouse Gear so that I could finally buy myself a souvenier. I went a little crazy. Much like I always do when we are leaving. Let me tell you what I bought.

I got these cereal bowls.

P1010700.jpg

Aren’t they sweet? The only downer is that I discovered that they are NOT dishwasher safe. This girl doesn’t much like washing dishes by hand. However, I’ll suffer through washing these as long as we get good Disney memories while we are eating our cereal!

I also bought a Mickey head cookie cutter, a test track Mickey head antennae topper and two picture frames for the boys. Wherever we go on vacation, I always grab a picture frame for each of them and we put a picture of our trip in it and it lives in their rooms. It is much easier than scrap booking!

I hauled my big bag of goodies and ran, one last time, to meet the rest of our crew at Spaceship Earth. We had decided that this would be our last ride. It was our first ride when we got here and it would be our last. Remember, we love Spaceship Earth. As we were getting in line I heard someone call my name. It is my sweet friend Yak! She got in line behind us and rode the big golf ball with her friend from home who had come with her to the meet and was seeing Disney for the first time.

After our sweet final and wonderful ride, we went outside and I talked with Yak. Mr. Frick took our picture.

Disney2006369-1.jpg

I was glad that I ran in to her before we left. We got to talk for a while which was nice! She also took our last family photo at Disney.

Disney2006370.jpg

I have that look. The look that says I’m sad about leaving. I also look a little pregnant. But that shirt was cool and in style. So I bought it. Even if I could wear it if I were 7 months pregnant.

Thank you Yak for taking our picture! It is rare that we have a photo with all of us in it! Especially at Disney!

We said our goodbyes to Yak and began the walk to the car.

Boo hoo. Our bodies were soooo tired and we really couldn’t have lasted another day in the parks, but it was still sad to be leaving.

We began the long drive to the beach in North Carolina. We were headed to Bald Head Island, a place of total relaxation because cars are not allowed on the island. It takes 20 minutes on a cool passenger ferry to get there and Grandpa Frick, Mr. Frick’s father, lives there. He had invited Mr Frick to play in the annual member/guest golf tournament and so we couldn’t pass that up.

During the eight hour drive, I pulled out our laptop and sent out some messages to my friends who didn’t make it to the meet. I viewed Sher’s live TR that was going on and saw pictures of myself and the girls from our girl’s night out. I thought to myself right then and there that I had to tell our story. We had such a wonderful vacation filled with lots of huge, cheek hurting smiles and laughter that I had to share it with you all. Plus, Horsegirl came up with such a great title for my TR that I had to commit to doing this. I pulled out my little notebook and pen that Yak had given me in my goody bag, and I wrote down everything I needed to remember for this TR.

We got to Grandpa Frick’s house, which is on the river right by the Ferry station that night around 1 am. He just moved off the Island two years ago after going through three hurricanes. We barely said hello before we crashed. Early the next morning we caught our boat over to the Island where we rented a beach villa for the next five days. I take this picture every time we come in to the harbor.

Disney2006381.jpg

We always get excited when we see this.

Disney2006383.jpg

We did a lot of this

P1010250.jpg

P1010246.jpg

P1010261.jpg

And we saw a lot of these.

P1010211.jpg

And we were super happy when Mr. Frick went up to get the first place grand prize that he and his father won.

P1010269.jpg

It was a great ending to a great trip! What a wonderful ten days it turned out to be!

In closing, I would like to say this….

To my wonderful friends that traveled to Orlando to finally meet, I must say it was all worth it wasn’t it?!?! I had a blast meeting you all and my only regret is that I didn’t have more time to spend with you. I feel fortunate that I got to meet you all and I will never forget the good memories that were made! Ly/Mi! Let’s do it again sometime!!!

To my wonderful friends who didn’t get to join us, please know that you were truly missed and thought of often! These Maelstrommers are good people! Trust me!

To the folks who have stuck with me through this TR and who have been so patient for me to finish, thank you for reading and most importantly, thank you for all the kind comments! I hope somewhere along the way I have taught you something you didn’t know or brought back a good memory for you or at least put a little smile on your face. I love reading Trip Reports and going to Disney with other families all while sitting here getting wicker imprints on my bum in the comfort of my own home. Here is a big thank you to all of you out there who have written or are writing a TR because now I know what a commitment it is. I had fun writing this for you and for me!

I’m going to copy a favorite adios phrase from one of my Dis buddies!

Blessings!
Frick
