Well my friend who is a cop told me if the wolf comes back to call him or if the fox starts hanging around (he is worried about DS and our little westie) Well I just got done filming the fox-not sure if it is actually two going in and out of the den. My camcorder can zoom much farther than my camera so I could not get photos, it needs to come out of the woods more. DS said "call Dave" (the cop) but I don't know if it is ethical to do that, I mean it has not hurt us or anything... so I did not call, it it was the wolf I would................

Call to what? Have him shoot it! :earseek: If that's it, please, please, please don't. :( Call the wildlife service in your state or a wildlife rehabilitaion/rescue and demand that it be removed. :(

I have to agree with Maggie. Please call animal control and let them capture the fox and wolf and release them farther away from you.

If we get certain foxes at our wildlife rehab hospital we are ordered to destroy them as they are a huge carrier of rabies and they basically make it hard for other species to survive...

If it's not too close to your home ... I dont know...

All this stuff makes me sad... I constantly hear people (not you!) complain about wildlife in their new suburb of a backyard... well you built your home on animals homes... what do you think is going to happen? They were there before you.

People dont have enough respect or appreciation for the wildlife species... makes me ill..

None of this is directed at anyone here... I think you (Ann) are doing the best you can to protect your family and I can understand... defintely call your local fish and game place and ask what you should do.

There should be a wildlife rehabilitation station near you. They might take them and find them a new home.

Please don't have them destroyed. When you destroy foxes and wolves, you destroy the ecosystem. Please have them moved to a new home somehow.

A bit worried about rabies, the den is about thirty feet from our deck/hot tub and yes I love wildlife. DH agreed that the fox is beautiful and we would do nothing as long as it did not start acting strange. I have already called animal control, environmental police and wildlife and fisheries-basically about the wolf but they do not remove animals at all. I had huge reservations about calling Dave and did not but if it was the wolf again I don't know- the thing was huge, wants to eat the fox babies and I want my son to be able to play outside.

Dave was going to make it so the fox would not want to come around...set up lights and loud noises, I did not call because I think it is close to kitt time and it is so cold out..

I live in the country and do appreciate nature that is why I live here, but please do understand my son is my biggest priority!
