Did Han's death surprise you by Kylo...his son? His name was BEN solo? Really? The fall into the abyss looked pretty CGI-y fake. How about Luke having no lines and appearing for 40 seconds at the end on the island (Skellig Michael).

When you saw Snoke did you think Gollum?

When Kylo takes off his mask, did you wonder why a young Professor Snape was in a SW movie?

That said, for Kylo to stop a laser bolt in mid air makes him more powerful that Yoda in my mind.

What say you!

Kylo Ren is a whiny brat. It's fun to make fun of the original Luke, "I was going to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters." But Hayden Christensen's Anakin is something I could have done without revisiting. Vader was cool, Darth Maul was cool, Kylo Ren is a poser with an anger management problem and I kept thinking of Affluenza Kid. I think they have done a disservice to his character to not explain more about why Ben left Luke. They said, "He has too much of Vader in him." But that felt like a callback to when Aunt Beru said it, and it turned out Luke did not have too much of his father in him after all.

Han's death is the one spoiler I knew, but considering how vocal Harrison Ford has been about wishing Han would have died, and disliking Han as one dimensional, etc I thought it was a "predictable" outcome for his character. And as an actor, I'm not sure Harrison has still got it. I actually thought Carrie did fine. I almost wish Luke hadn't even appeared in the first movie, because I felt like it made the end drag on to the point of being anti-climactic. Save him for the 2nd movie, but in the real world, I'm not sure how that would have gone over.

I did really like Rey, Poe and Finn and of course BB-8. I'm sure JJ was feeling the pressure of having to not only pick up the Star Wars mantle but repair the damage of the prequels. But as much as I liked the homages and callbacks to the original movie, I kept waiting for it to stand on its own, and I didn't feel like it got there. So I ended up feeling like I watched more of a reboot than a sequel.

Off to go read the other spoiler thread.

The Force isn't the only thing strong in his family - so is the whining. Lol

We loved it - crushed by the death, but at least we still have Chewie! Looking forward to the next installments.

I feel like a part of my childhood has died. Hans Solo was one of my first crushes. I thought the tantrums that Kylo Ren had were very amusing. He reminds me of my 4 year old when he doesn't get his way.

As crushed as I am about Han, I am SO relieved that it wasn't Chewie who bought it.

So Rey is Luke's kid right? What is UP with that family abandoning their kids on desert planets?? It doesn't seem to be working out so well LOL.

I thought Finn was the whiner for the first 3/4 of the movie. But I really liked Rey and JJ giving us a strong female...and a Jedi! I wanted to yell at Kylo Ren to leave his mask on. ALL his "menace" is gone the second he takes that mask off...he looked like Andy Samberg LOL!

Overall I was pleased with it and look forward to the continuation of the saga. It felt like getting together with old friends while making some new ones.

**note to bad guys...STOP TRYING TO MAKE A GIANT WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION! It clearly isn;t working. or at least stop building them with a gigantic exploitable weak spot.

If Chewie would have died, I would have been bawling in the theatre. Rey is not a Jedi yet, until she has been trained-right?? Finn was great, Kylo should have left the mask on, I agree! We we wondering if he would get music like Vader when he walks out but I didnt hear any. :( yeah the Death Star type weapon has been played out.
You know it is possible Rey just has the force and is not Lukes kid, if she is lukes, why are they apart?
Can't wait for the next one...

I loved it. I knew that Hans Solo died and once it was said that Kylo was their son that he would kill him. ITA that Rey is Luke's daughter.

I think Rey is Han & Leia's daughter and Kylo's sister (perhaps twin). Jedis were trained not to get involved in relationships, so I can't fathom Rey being Luke's. I think Luke used his powers to erase/block the memory of Rey from Han & Leia's minds to protect her AND them and left her on Jakku long ago once Kylo was turning to the Dark Side. I got the sense that Kylo knew they were siblings and at one point he even told Rey that Han would've disappointed her as a father.

Just saw it yesterday. What I couldn't figure out was why Poe Dameron doesn't have BB-8 in his X-wing once he has the droid back.

I thought we saw BB-8 lifted into the X-wing before the final battle.

Probably right. However, I thought there was some time where he had a chance to use BB-8 but it stayed with Rey.

Snoke was a projection and always kind of a hazy projection. He's supposed to be maybe 7 ft tall.

Kylo Ren is a whiner. He must get that from the Skywalker genes, both Anakin and Luke were whiny.
They kind of had to kill off Han. Harrison Ford is too old to be running around in any more movies.
I really liked the movie though. I thought it was great.
I'm not sure if Luke is Rey's father. It seems like that would be logical but where's her mother?
I hope Rey isn't Han and Leia's daughter. I mean they raised their son and let him train with Luke so why abandon their daughter?

I saw the movie ths morning. I had not heard anything other than Luke was missing so I was really surprised and of course have a lot of questions and can't wait until the next one.

We saw it today - had a great time!

At first, I figured Rey was going to end up being Han and Leia's daughter, twin to the son who went bad (and was trying to figure out how that would be explained). But then after we left, DS speculated that maybe she's Luke's, and I started to think that made more sense. After reading both sides here, I'm torn now on which to predict.

I liked the new robot, and the bar owner. I also got a kick out of the little touches (especially lines) thrown in from the original.

I did love all of the cameos and bit-parts that notable actors did! Daniel Craig as the the stormtrooper who Rey mind-tricked! Simon Pegg as Unkar! Heck even film composer Michael Giacchino was in it as a trooper! Greg Grunberg as a pilot...

Hans solo death surprised me. Harrison ford might of wanted too much money for more movies. But he probably brings in more than they spent on him.

No. Not money related. Harrison Ford himself has long said that he felt Han should have died in the earlier films.
