The flu sucks.

My DS10 is Finally getting over his bout with the flu. He started coming down with it on Thursday and was real sick all weekend. his fever broke last night so we sent him to school this morning because we thought he looked better, well at 9:30 the school nurse called and said that his fever came back so I had to go and pick him up. She was tell me that the kids at school (and the teachers) were dropping like flies. Then the women at the pharmacy at Wal-mart said that all the hospitals around here (there are 4) are all maxed out of beds and they are having to turn people away. They've never seen it so bad.

I can only hope that I don't get it because I can't take ANY medication because of certain medication I am already on. This flu season is a bummer. I hope that anyone who gets it gets over it very quickly

I caught the flu last thursday. Friday afternoon after laying in bed with a fever of 102, I suddenly was drenched in sweat and my fever broke. The aches and chills were gone by that night. I was even able to stay out of bed all day the next day. I still had no voice and I was exhausted, but sweatiing it out really made a difference. But I also drank water and gatorade all day as well as eating popsickles.

Thanks everyone. I guess everyone has it right now. The worst part for me is the dry cough - my nose and throat just burns. I rarely get sick, and this is just wiping me out. I just had to whine - it makes me feel better. Well, not really, but you know what I mean.

BTW, why is it when our dh's get sick, they get to whine like babies and stay in bed all day, but when us moms get sick, we have to suck it up? Seriously. When he was sick for a couple of days last week, he laid around around whining and you would have thought he was dying. Now it's my turn - and I'm much sicker - and instead of making me some soup and keeping the kids at bay, he decided to bbq steaks (which I can't taste and hurts to swallow), and he's outside at 8pm fiddling around in the yard while the kids are hounding me for everything. He's a great guy, but sometimes I wonder about this man of mine.

Our lovely DS came home with it Friday and naturally shared it with all of us. Even our DD who had a flu shot got it as well. (Not the first time she has done this either)
So far mine has seemed the milder of everyone's, and my Dh is the worst! Personally I think husbands always think they are the worst.

All my kids have the flu (positive swabs), but we caught it on day one. Tamiflu does indeed work wonders. According to our doctor, it prevents the virus from reproducing, so it basically holds the infection at status quo. Very nice product.

I have experienced this same illness after taking care of my sick child who had RSV. It was horrible!

Terry----did your lungs hurt?

I am just now feeling human, but mine seemed to be flu, sinus infection and ears. my lungs ached, but the xray showed no signs of pneumonia....but we won't even discuss how my doctor's office didn't get the results for 2 days....and didn't call the radiology group to check on it....despite my 7 phone calls to them. Nor did they have me come back in. (to do list for today: find new doctor). I am still exhausted, and it has been almost 2 weeks!

I've had it for a week and I'm just starting to feel a little better today. I still have a really annoying cough and that "mask of pain" feeling in my face, my sinuses hurt so badly. My upper teeth feel like they're floating in a sea of pain. The worst part is I DID have a flu shot this year, but it doesn't cover all starins of the flu. This has been pure misery.

Yes my chest was hurting very badly! I hope everyone feels better soon.

Well my DD's friend came down with the flu yesterday after being with my DD all day Saturday...I am sweating buck shots hoping she does not get it. She did get the shot but he did not! So far so good!

i got the flu the day before we flew out for WDW, I went to the doctor and got Tamiflu and it sure helped!

My bf and my daughter both had the flu last week. I never caught it, but they both seemed so miserable. (none of us had the shot)
