The flu sucks.

Yes, it does, and it's running rampant here!

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Did you get some Tamiflu? Both my kids took it and it worked great. :)

Never heard of it - but I will send my dh out tonight. Thanks for the suggestion. It started with my dd who missed a weeks worth of school, then moved on to my ds6, then on to me and my ds5. He's been running a fever off and on since Wed. I feel like I've been hit by a truck, and and my head and chest hurt so bad. The doctor said it's the flu, and there's nothing you can do but ride it out.

We are SO getting my flu shot next year.

I had it last Tuesday - it certainly does suck/ As does the required sore throat, stuffiness and cough that lingers for awhile too. :sad1:

Hugs for the sucky flu -

This is gonna be gross - BUT - I find sweating makes it go away faster. So, HOT bath, get out, layer like crazy, electric blanket with every other blanket you have in the house (kick your husband onto the couch for tonight) toss on your robe too - just for good measure.

The hotter I am, the more I sweat, the faster it goes away.

Then I have to do laundry the next day - but at least I dont feel like butt.

Sorry I so do not agree with this!! You need to stay cool and hydrated. The last thing you want to do is get dehydrated and end up on the hospital with an IV running. IVs are harder to start in dehydrated people. :scared1:

Im just telling you what works for me.

And there's no way I could 'stay cool' - Im usually FREEZING when I have the Flu.

You might be right - I might be setting myself up for death, BUT I feel better doing this.

You'll need a script from your Dr for Tamiflu, hope you feel better soon

Hope you feel better soon. My DS had a touch of it last week. He called from college and said that most of the kids on his entire floor have been pretty well wiped out.

Yep, it's prescription only and must be started within a window of onset. As soon as my kids cratered I got them right to the doctor because when it hits that fast you KNOW what it is.

I got a shot this year, but that is no guarantee. The shot could be for a strain that isn't the one that you have.

Take care of yourself. :)

I had the flu over the Christmas/New Year holiday week and it was awful. Trips to the ER, IV's, the whole nine yards. Yuck!

I hope you feel better soon!

We are recovering from the flu at my house too. We had the flu shot but still got this strain. Tamiflu did help to shorten it but it still made us miserable for several days. Everyone is headed back to school and work tomorrow after being home all of last week.

anybody know....is it possible for the virus to cause RSV in babies? Because I swear I caught this from him....but totally feels like flu to me (with a side of sinus infection and maybe bronchitis for fun).

I think we actually brought it home from WDW with us......

Warm blankets being tossed your way, we have plenty out... DS has had either the flu or a bad cold all weekend (shivers, nausea, runny nose) and I can feel it trying to pass onto me.

Thanks everyone. I guess everyone has it right now. The worst part for me is the dry cough - my nose and throat just burns. I rarely get sick, and this is just wiping me out. I just had to whine - it makes me feel better. Well, not really, but you know what I mean. :)

BTW, why is it when our dh's get sick, they get to whine like babies and stay in bed all day, but when us moms get sick, we have to suck it up? Seriously. When he was sick for a couple of days last week, he laid around around whining and you would have thought he was dying. Now it's my turn - and I'm much sicker - and instead of making me some soup and keeping the kids at bay, he decided to bbq steaks (which I can't taste and hurts to swallow), and he's outside at 8pm fiddling around in the yard while the kids are hounding me for everything. He's a great guy, but sometimes I wonder about this man of mine.

I know what you mean, DH has been sick since Friday, he is the biggest baby. He's like, get me some hot tea, my feet are cold can you get me another blanket, I cough more when I am lying down,my head hurts when I sit up, where's my cough drops,I need some water,I need kleenex with lotion..........
He finally went to sleep. where's my gun..:rotfl:

Hoping I don't get it!!!!!!!!

I have experienced this same illness after taking care of my sick child who had RSV. It was horrible!

Maybe that's what I've got... Was fine yesterday, today feel like crap. Achy, kinda scratchy throat. I've taken Cold-Eeze but may have to get some Theraflu strips to take.... The achy has worn off a bit since I took some aspirin (Mom's suggestion) and drank a cup of chamomile tea

I hope I don't end up like a coworker who's gonna be out until possibly the weekend with bronchitis. He was coughing all over the place Saturday. :scared:

Hope you feel better soon, Steph.
