The Fixer and The Cookmaster:major pixie dust*IT'S FINISHED*EPILOGUE UP!!#389

First A new Twinkiemama. And now this. Yeah!
Your boys just sound so sweet. I love it when the un-mememe kids get picked. :goodvibes
I can't believe your trip is almost done. It's been a great read.

The first contestant was…an 11 year old boy from Nashville whose name was NOT A. Fixer! That was odd but we cheered him until his early demise. The next contestant really intrigued me. I was, at the time, a Mouseketeer in these parts. Oh, I had let you people help me with planning, read your tips, and occasionally read a trip report or two. Well, three or four at the time. Anyway, I knew all about Del, delswife, zurg, and the clan at BadShoe. The guy in the hotseat had on a badshoe.com t-shirt! I wanted to stand and scream, “ Hey! !You! Aren’t you the Evil Emperor Zurg? Where’s Commando Nikki? Where were you sitting cause I need to go stalk your peeps while you sit in the hotseat!! I’m no good at this game anyway; show me some love!” My A kept me calm and seated and we watched, like everyone else, as our own Disser, Zurg, played the game…and played it well. I can’t remember how far he got but I did my best to find him and the rest of the crew after the show. No luck.

Jami - Now that I have gotten to know you a little bit, I can imagine you were almost on your feet screaming!!!!!!!!!!!

Also you trying your hardest to track them on the way out :rotfl2:

That would almost be as funny as Shrek in the hurry up mode, which still has me cracking up. The look on his face is priceless :3dglasses

Thank you, Princess Libby!! Are those flowers in your sig for meeeee??? You are kind. PM me if you ever need to talk to another TN hick. well, we know we are not hicks, but the rest of the world thinks we are...

Grammy, I am a celeb stalker from way back. Even Internet friends will do. I once got an A and E network hat (for my boys' initials) off a filming camera dude in the Chicago airport. He mailed it to me with a bunch of Southwest Airlines goodies.

HAHAHA!!! You groupie!!! :teeth:

I think stopping to smell the roses is what all the planning is about. I think those opportunities, like seeing your son participate in the magic act, really make it magical! :wizard:

HeHe! That depends on whether or not you are at Talledega Motor Speed Way or the Quad in Tuscaloosa! :rotfl: I am a Bama grad and I LOVE Tink, so that's where my name comes from! And, you are welcome!

Leaving Sunday for "The parents are outnumbered by the kids" trip to the Poly! 2 sets of parents and 5 kids, ages 9, 5, 4, 3, 2! What are we thinking!

No. 1 Reason to always have your cellphone on is ..... in case you lose it and you want to know where it ended up or who found it and might not have been willing to turn it in to lost and found! For this reason alone DH knows that he always has to have his phone on and the ringer loud - except when we are somewhere quiet.

While we were NOT NOT NOT at WDW while you saw the famous Mr. GYGO, he must be DH's slightly more tricked-out twin. For the last couple years, DH has thought that the over-the-shoulder man-bag ("murse"?) was a must-do. It would hold his hanky-and-a-spare (not kleenex), ever-present king-sized bottles of advil and tylenol, purell, handi-wipes for the men's room, cellphone, wallet, keys and anything else he thought I might not have room for in my not-quite-so-large waistpack. And then he realized that the cellphone had to be outside of the man-bag for him to actually hear it, so we had to get a case that would hang on the man-bag because he doesn't always wear a belt. Fast forward last summer to a non-Disney park where it took him 5 minutes just to have his man-bag thoroughly checked (we always check backpacks, sir) and he was told that his man-bag (backpack) might not be permitted on certain rides, only waist/fanny packs.

I have loved reading and viewing your trip. Sorry that it's almost over. So glad that you got pixie dusted in so many different ways.

This took me over the edge! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

A "murse"! I LOVE it! I have always called them man purses but never thought to combine the two words! Call Websters!

PS: is it a messenger bag?

Jami - I am sooooo jealous that you got to see Zurg in action! When we went this time all selected were out of the hot seat quickly.

Wow! I can't believe you saw Zurg. And in the hot seat no less. Now THAT'S special. I think I'm more of a celebrity stalker than you. I never would've lost 'em after the show!!

Can't believe it's coming to an end. But, soon you'll have another trip to report on! Hope it's as magical (in a different way, of course) as this one!!

...and he didn't even look evil at all! He's all smoke and mirrors, that one.
I would have chased him into the crowd but my son already thinks I'm crazy  . Besides, I wasn't 100% sure it was Zurg at the time; now I know it was.

Yes, yes. I am done with summer traveling for awhile and need to finish this tale. Next two days...promise.

Jami ~
Just caught the previous two episodes (how did THAT happen?).

Wonderful stories, as always. You were so observent about everything on this trip. I have a hard enough time just observing my munchkins. (And thanks for the reminder on the Great Movie Ride. Yeah, don't think my little girl needs to see that!)

I hate to see your story coming to a close. But, on the bright side, you will soon have something new to write about!

:) Amy

I really love the pictures. Thanks for entertaining us so well. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
It's a great pity that you've almost finished the report.

My dear Georgia Kitty, It's all in a little notebook I kept in my bag the whole trip. That and the 417 pics I saved remind me of the details. Next trip, I'll make you the star of a whole chapter  !!

Chapter 21, still day 9
A and I made it back to the lounge where we managed to throw down a few cookies and a drink. We steeled ourselves for the Waking Up Job, for everyone approaches Waking Up Shrek and E with fear and rightful trepidation. The approach and key insert gave my feet a minute to acclimate to the room temperature inside. Those two were in REM sleep in a freezer. A and I laughed, but woke their lazy carcasses so we could plan (OK, engage) the second half of the day. DH lifted his drool-ly mug from the pillow and asked, all interested and invested, What’s the Plan? He knew there was one and my presence in the dark chill meant he better get moving. Nap over.

We had a reservation for Sci-Fi Café for dinner before Fantasmic!. E was begging to swim (?) and asked if he haaaad to go to Fantasmic. Poor little guy had been along for the ride and patiently endured our penchant for scary adventures, dark drops, and fine cuisine, so I offered to stay at the Poly with him. I know!! I am a sacrificial Mom! I can’t believe it either, but YES, I gave up my second favorite night show AND first time dining at Sci Fi to have a date with my Golden Sunshine. We called SciFi (well, the Middlemen at the ADR World HQ) and adjusted the number of diners, called Kona to make an ADR for us (people, it was our last night! those TS credits haaad to be eaten!), and sent the two manly men on their way.

Our evening was rough. I read (Mel’s first TR) and relaxed in a hammock while E played in the sand. Then we made our way to the pool where I knew he would want me to swim with him. I even put on a bathing suit because he had been asking me to swim with him all week. When we settled in at the volcano, I asked (loudly, to prepare potential witnesses) him if he wanted me to go down the volcano slide with him. He said, No , Mommy, just watch me. You can sit here, that will be fine. My heart swelled!! I have never loved so much. Yippee! I felt the audible sigh from my fellow guests and truly wanted to buy everyone a drink, so profound was my relief. See, March-in-a-bathing-suit doesn’t work for me. Pale, comfortable winter flesh feels better in clothing on dry land. OK, onward.

I had a beer while I “watched this” hundreds of times. I made the little stud wrap up and accompany me to the Concierge Lounge for a free (!) beer. I brought back two and gave one to a Mom I was chatting up at the pool. I don’t do solitude. Like people. Chit chat. New people. PFs (Potential friends). Disney-mad folk. Two beers later I knew we had to go back to the room for our appointment. I dreaded it, but the empty suitcases were waiting and I had a truckload of condensing to do.

I gave E the five minute warning and tried to prepare for the task ahead. When we got back to the refrigerator (now), I told E he could take a huge bath with all the buckets and shovels from the beach. I faced the next task with determination. I have to tell you something: I could not believe how many of those yellow, black, and red Dis-bags I unearthed. I jumped a bit every time I peeked inside one of those treasure holders. We had Disney trademark junk out the wazoo and I had to get it in the bags without my husband’s head spinning off axis. I had most of it done before E shriveled so I made him get dressed for our dinner date.

The two of us had a nice stroll to the Great Ceremonial House. We’ve never eaten at Kona, but I had heard (read) it was good. At this point in the trip we had eaten so much the food scarcely mattered, but I was looking forward to it anyway. My sweet E was seated facing the plastic renditions of dessert. I noticed he ate a hearty dinner, then realized he plowed through it to get to dessert. He had seen the impressive cone/waffle/ice cream/cotton candy temptation before we sat down. About the time we ordered dessert, Shrek and A called, on their way home from Fantasmic!. They joined us in Kona to tell us about their evening and snap a picture of our date:

We missed Wishes that night, but it was an easy sacrifice to cherish a cozy booth for two and watch my Sunshine eat his cotton candy dessert.

DH and A reported that SciFi was great fun. A apparently screamed with laughter at every cheesy pun, but then, aren’t cheesy puns geared toward twelve year old boys? I know when he gathers with his friends, the Arrrrrr… pirate jokes never end. Shrek said his favorite part was watching A have so much fun:

Hmmm…that sounded familiar….and while I sometimes wonder if we enjoy our couple dates the way we find new intimacy in one-on-one sessions with our sons, I rationalize that the security we feel as a couple is different from the novel experience of watching life with an evolving young person.

When the last bite of cotton candy was cleared from the bowl, the four Fixers walked back to our treasured piece of vacation paradise to catch our last night of magical dreams. I set the wakeup call as early as I dared, for the next day would be our last in The World for 2006. Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight…

Day 9 totals:
Fights—none!
Meltdowns—2, including a doozy at the Lights, Motors, Action show.

Still to come: day 10--MK, Downtown Disney, flight changes, and finally home...
I so appreciate your patience in sticking with me! I have honestly relished savoring our trip by writing about it in installments, though it was never my intention to take so long! Thank you for your very kind comments!

All mothers use the bath trick to steal time. Only when all the skin looks as if it belonged to my grandmother, is the bath complete. And do those bags multiply when they get in your room, like little rabbits.

This has to be the most impressive kids dessert in the world. I kinda like it too. :teeth: And I love Kona!!!!

 A couple finds a whole new kind of love when they share children. The best kind of love is the love we have for our families, no matter what the composition. To find joy simply by seeing someone else happy......

As always, Jami...... wonderful

I just loved your comments about the different type of intimacy one feels spending quality time with children versus time together as a couple. Today is our 17th wedding anniversary and I'm willing to bet as we have dinner tonight, alone without the kids, that we will sit there and talk about them! Hopefully we will also find time to reflect and to hope and dream . . . possibly some about our own upcoming adventures at the Poly!

Thanks again for such good writing!
