:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

How the HECK did I miss this update yesterday. I am cracking up!!!!! First of all - grandma checking out the Beverly with Caitlin laughing is HI-STERICAL! Then the story of grandma trying to parellel park the ECV on the bus....NO WAY! That is exactly why I will never drive an ECV. I would be just as bad as grandma, probably worse - Oh, the pressure!

Then the best is Caitlin's picture on the ECV....that is soooooooo freak'in funny! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl::laughing::lmao::rotfl2:

:worship::worship: Great update! :worship::worship:

Nice update Caitlin! :thumbsup2 I feel so bad for your Grandma though. I'm sure it's not easy trying to work that thing- let alone trying to get it on the bus like that.

Dawn- Oh No! Not Soarin'! Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. I think that's the first time I've ever heard of someone not liking it.

I felt bad too we all were sick of the ECV by the time the trip ended

Great update :thumbsup2

Grandma's face after the Beverly , priceless !:lmao:

Nice pictures of the Fairy Garden & Princess Tiana's Bayou , both areas are soo pretty !

I would have been the same way after riding Soarin Dawn , expect my whole night would have been over , that's why I have never even attempted it lol

Poor Grandma :( Her and that ECV were def not friends :rotfl:

Sounds like you & your Mom had a blast w/ the EVC though lol

I thought her face was priceless!:lmao:

Thank you! During the Flower and Garden Festival it's hard not to get a beautiful picture :cloud9:

I am impressed that she was able to shake it off! All it took was a ride on Living with the Land and she felt better after

Oh I think the ECV was secretly out to get her luckily I don't remember much trouble with it after that night!

We did that wasn't our only joy ride either

I feel like this particular update should come with a WARNING! This is NOT a warm fuzzy update! The morning of our last full day things got...well UGLY!

I woke up that morning excited for our pre-opening breakfast at Tusker House and our scheduled Dismeet for later that morning. I was really excited and feeling good when grandma informed me she wasn't going. :confused3 She was going to stay in the room so she wouldn't be a "burden" and bother anyone with her poor ecv skills :sad2:

Now at this point I was getting frustrated. Very frustrated! When we invited her we had insisted she get an ecv so she could keep up with us (and you've heard how that worked out) but she was still frustrated we moved too fast while we were frustrated she couldn't keep up. Another problem was too much togetherness. We talk on the phone daily (and see each other maybe once a week) but haven't lived together since I was 18. We all needed some space! The Pop rooms aren't that big and we'd been together non-stop for 4 days. So how did I respond to her saying she wasn't going? I of course talked her into going with us :rolleyes1

She got up and got ready and as you might imagine neither one of us was in a very good mood. How was Caitlin during all this? She was managing pretty good right up until there was a spill....an ummm...well a denture water spill  on some of her things. At that point we were all trying to put on a happy face but boiling under the surface.

So we headed to the bus stop to catch a bus for AK all the while hoping things improved. They couldn't get worse, could they?

So we got to the bus stop about 7:15 giving us ample time until our 8:15 adr. At that point our good bus Karma ended. Do you know how long we waited outside in the cold for that bus? 35 minutes!! You can imagine how that helped our moods :sad2:

We finally arrived at AK shortly after 8 and then rushed through the park to get to Tusker House. So much for enjoying the empty park!
Caitlin did take this though...

We checked into TH and Caitlin got in line to see Donald. Remember all those cute, happy pics of her on the trip? This isn't one of them :rotfl2:

momsdispics334.jpg

We were seated pretty quickly and we were immediately wowed by the enormous buffet! There is definitely something for everyone at this buffet!

Looks good doesn't it? My favorite thing there was the ham! It was delicious and freshly carved! I'm not a big juice drinker but Caitlin and grandma both enjoyed the juice.

While we ate we were of course visited by the characters. However, Caitlin deleted all the pics since she didn't like most of them. Here is the only one she kept

Here is Goofy as he walked around. Aren't their outfits great?!

So we finished eating and headed out the door just moments before the rope dropped outside Tusker House. Perfect timing! We began walking over to the Safari and realized we'd be on the first safari of the day :yay: I was so excited! I've never been the first on anything at WDW! So as we enter I turn around and grandma is gone! I thought she was following us and she was gone! So much for being first....as we searched for her literally hundreds of people must have passed us! When we finally found her it turned out she had gone for her ecv. She hadn't understood that we were going back for it AFTER the safari. By this time I was  and could only hope the day improved!

The moral of the story:Multi-generation trips are wonderful for family bonding BUT too much togetherness can be a problem! Separate rooms are a good idea as is agreed upon time apart!

Wow, the TH breakfast does look yummy. I was bummed that we missed out on that. We had an ADR, but we had to cancel it because it ended up being too early for us.

I do have to agree with the moral of this update, though. There can be such a thing as too much togetherness. Sometimes a break from family/friends is a good thing on trips. Especially if you are sharing a room!

We found that out when we went to WDW back in '96 with my Uncle's family and my Grandparents, all on my Mom's side. We have totally different styles of touring and finally decided that they could all do one thing, we'd do another and we'd meet up for dinner. Worked out great!

Those early adrs can be rough! Maybe you can make it over there next time :) The food really was very good!

We learned a valuable lesson for next time!

Glad to hear things worked out on your extended family visit!
With just being 3 of us it made things really tough since if grandma didn't want to join us she'd be all alone. We had hoped a friend of hers would come with us which would have made it easier for us to split up and each group do their own thing.

We love Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House!
They have the usual fare plus some fun African dishes.
And we dream about that Jamba Juice!
We usually go through several pitchers (also known as Aloha Juice at 'Ohana).

When we went, Donald was inside meeting with everyone else but I had heard he moved to the front.
Do they still do the parade?
The kids loved that and the tater tots - Tusker House is the only breakfast we've found so far that has them!

As for Grandma, I can definitely see everyone starting to grate on each other's nerves.
Small space, lots of time, tempers are bound to flare up.
Hopefully Disney will take over and you guys will continue on without it ruining the rest of the trip!

Hopefully things improved for you guys as the day progressed.

The Tusker House breakfast looks awesome! This would definintely be the breakfast I'd most want to do out of all the character breakfasts.

Looking forward to hearing more:thumbsup2

The breakfast was good and did have many things that aren't on all the other buffets.
They did have the parade and all the little kids seemed to really enjoy it!
That morning was rough but it did not spoil the rest of the trip! Who can stay crabby in WDW? :goodvibes

They did, thanks!
I would highly recommend the TH breakfast! The buffet was wonderful and the characters are always fun! :goodvibes

Aww sorry to hear the day was so frustrating. I definitely feel your pain though, the girls and I decided after this last trip that from now on we would not be bringing anyone extra with us ever again! We have so much more fun when its just the 3 of us. If she ever gets that TR started you will soon see why!! lol
Can't wait to see how the day shaped up!

I sure felt for you guys in that update....we've been there. Last summer when my best friend said they were going to meet us for our last 9 days, poor Jasmine almost had a meltdown! When we went with them in 2007 we had adjoining rooms but for the most part when we were in our rooms the doors were open, only closing them to sleep. B's daughter is an only child too, but not at all like Jasmine. She wants what she wants and that's that....if she doesn't get it, everyone suffers. When I finally booked September's trip, Jasmine made a point of saying to me on more than one occasion....just you and me mom no one else!! I got her point and I respected that!

I just found your trip update, I've enjoyed reading it so much! Thank you for posting it all. I saved the picture of the banana split to show my husband because it looked so good, that's definitely on my to eat list!

And Caitlin is beautiful!

Caitlin does look a little tense in that first shot. :lmao: It was bound to happen. I was excited reading that you were going to be on the first safari! And then...sigh. Hopefully whenever you did get on there it was a good one to make up for it.

Thank you. I'm sorry to hear things didn't go better on your trip!
Caitlin took a friend once and only once. They were 12 and spent the whole trip looking for boys and riding ToT and RNRC. When we got home she realized how much she'd missed and really regretted it. Since that trip we stick to family only :)

So glad to hear we aren't the only ones who have had a hard time travelling with others!
