I just found your trip update, I've enjoyed reading it so much! Thank you for posting it all. I saved the picture of the banana split to show my husband because it looked so good, that's definitely on my to eat list!

Caitlin does look a little tense in that first shot. It was bound to happen. I was excited reading that you were going to be on the first safari! And then...sigh. Hopefully whenever you did get on there it was a good one to make up for it.

You know I didn't even notice how tense she looked until I went to post it and since enough time has passed I was able to laugh about it

We didn't end up riding the safari that day. I was so frustrated I needed to walk it off so we ended up leaving the area. Thankfully we had done the safari on our other AK day!

Sorry to hear how rough of a start the morning had. I hope it gets better. That's so true about having breaks from each other to prevent too much togetherness. It really does help the times together to be less stressful.

Tuskers' breakfast looks good. I'm not really a big breakfast eater- especially in the parks- but sometimes I wish I was because Tuskers looks like so much fun. I have thought about trying it for the character-less lunch though. I wonder if that's any good.

The breakfast is very good and so is the lunch. We went there in 2008 and really enjoyed it! The theming is excellent and I'm sure you'd get a lot of great pictures!

I can definitely sympathize with you guys. Multi-generational trips, while fun, bring their share of arguments and misunderstandings. My grandma has come with us a few times, and each time there was at least one morning where we were all mad at eachother. To be honest, I can't even remember what we were mad about, but after spending ALL that time with eachother, you get mad about stupid things.

Oh no what a morning ! lol

It reminds me of when my DBFF took her Grandmother with them last April, her grandmother is in her 70's and had never been to Florida or WDW ever . So they thought it would be great to take her on her first plane ride, trip to FL & WDW. After the first day she was just not able to keep up so they rented a ECV for her and she still was just not keeping up and wanted to stay in the room a good bit So there trip ended up a bit like yours and my DBFF saying she would never take her along again , good thing her Grandma agrees ! lol

On a brighter note we absolutely love the Tusker House ! After eating there last year it was def a must for our September trip ! I can't get over there selection and it is soo yummy !

Keeping my fingers crossed that in the next update things take a turn for the better !

Tusker House was a great breakfast! I hope you enjoy it as much in Sept as you did last year! We have an adr for there next month but I'm not sure how many times I can get Dale up early

Sorry that your AK day started out so roughly. I hope it gets better. I think it is difficult to travel with people (family or not) that you are not around every day and that you are not in-sync with. I know that I have my best trips when I just go with Denny. When my kids were little we had great trips, too. But I think when you start adding people outside your immediate family it can get to be sensory overload.

I really hope grandma had a good trip overall and I think the idea for separate rooms is a good one. I am a little afraid of that when I go with my GF in September. I am the type of person who can get overloaded fairly quickly and I need my down time. I am a little worried about being in the same room for 4 days, but knowing it may be a potential source of stress, I am going prepared.

It is really hard to travel with people and try and accomodate everyone's schedules and habits and keep everybody happy.

We did have a great time but there were some stressful moments. That's how life is anyway right?

Thanks! Actually the most memorable thing about the bus ride, which I left out, was one of the drivers yelling at me. After we'd waited 25 minutes and seen buses come and go for all the other parks I popped my head in a bus and asked if they could call for an AK bus since none had arrived. The driver stood up and yelled at me "it'll be here when it gets here" So after the driver yelling and the stress back in the room I really have no memory of her boarding that morning

Caitlin took a friend once and only once. They were 12 and spent the whole trip looking for boys and riding ToT and RNRC. When we got home she realized how much she'd missed and really regretted it. Since that trip we stick to family only

This is SO funny! When we went in October Gabbie took a friend (they were both 13 at the time) and they rode ToT and RNRC the whole trip too!! What a coincidence! And boy crazy.......oh Lord dont get me started!!

I think we should have t-shirts made that say "Doesn't travel well with others" lol. I have actually seen the ones that say something along the lines of 'not playing well with others' so this would be cute. Seems to be the theme with Disney vacations! (No matter how much FUN 'we' think we are!!)

Yes, a very slow rough trip , where they missed lots ! lol But they go a lot so they made up for lost time on there many trips after
