*ThE FiVe LeGgEd GoAt VaCaTiOn GIRLS ONLY TRIP! *8/27*THE END*

After our tour of the 70's and 80's we went back to the room and got grandma and after putting the blankets in her ecv basket we headed
to Pop's bus stop. It was time to head back to the MK for our D23 dinner and then the party after the park closed.

As we entered the park we discovered the band was playing right at the entrance...
momsdispics196.jpg

We listened to a few songs, singing and clapping along. We really enjoyed this and loved watching all the little ones dancing to the music. Pure Disney magic :wizard:

We then stopped to get this picture, which is one of my very favorites from this trip..
momsdispics197.jpg

I know a lot of people get this shot everytime they visit but somehow we've always missed it :confused3 That was Caitlin's first pic ever with Minnie and Roy!

We then headed to the Diamond Horseshoe where the D23 dinner was to be held. We were going to meet MyMuse (Michele) there and enjoy dinner together. We got there about half an hour early and there was already a pretty long line. We got in and shortly after Michele walked up. It was like seeing an old friend and we discussed our trips while we waited. When we were finally let in there was no assigned seating and you just chose a spot and visited the various food stations situated around the room. (the whole thing was very crowded and sort of hectic so we didn't get pics. sorry)
While I was in the salad line I happened to spot Deb from All Ears. I told her how much we enjoy her site and how helpful all their info is :thumbsup2

When we sat back down we all talked and ate. Well sort of ate. The buffet was not to mine or Caitlin's liking so we didn't actually eat much at all.
disneymypictures489.jpg

(this soup and salad was all Caitlin took)

Once everyone was seated the host for the evening took to the stage and welcomed everyone. As he did that, servers went around and poured champagne for everyone for a toast to D23. I really wasn't paying much attention to the table and when it was time to raise our glasses I noticed Caitlin had champagne too? This was really odd since no one EVER thinks she is older than she is, she is always guessed younger. Sometimes a lot younger :rotfl:

Anyway, as the gentleman spoke Caitlin kept saying "there's going to be some really cool special guest to do the toast" and "someone's coming out I just know it!" She was really psyched since we had read about all the special guests the Disneyland party was having. (old Disney movie stars, character voices etc) So guess who did the toast?

Well c'mon who do you think was the toastmaster?

Are you ready for this?

Welllllllllllll.................................If you guessed the guy who had been talking the whole time......you are CORRRECT :rolleyes1 No special guests for us. A lackluster buffet and no special guests after paying a hefty sum for our tickets. We were majorly disappointed! They then had a slide show of D23 events that had occurred during the first year. Nothing exciting. At this point I was really regretting the party. All I could do was hope that the evening's activities would make up for the meal!

After dinner we said goodbye to Michele and agreed to look for each other later and she headed one direction and we headed to Toon Town. Caitlin wanted to see Toon Town one last time in case it closed before our August trip. (turns out it should still be there in August :thumbsup2)

We then paid a visit to Mickey's house! Our host wasn't there and he obviously wasn't prepared for visitors! His kitchen is being remodeled and it's a mess!

We then headed over to Minnie's house and paid her a visit.

She's also an avid reader!

When we finished visiting Mickey and Minnie we made our way back to Frontierland and roamed around. Caitlin started getting hungry so she stopped at the stand near Peco Bill's and got this veggie wrap...
momsdispics203.jpg

in her words,"It was gross!" we were striking out completely with food that evening! :headache:
But like any good Disser rather than go hungry she went to the Dole Whip stand and got a Dole Whip float with orange juice. It was freezing out, since the sun had set, and she was eating icecream :confused3 It hit the spot though and she was a happy girl again.

We then decided it was time for a cruise! We headed over to the jungle cruise, parked the ecv and got in line. As we were entering the queue 3 rude boys (probably 11 or 12 yr olds) shoved past us and cut in line. They were part of a much larger group who were all behind us so when we needed to board it got confusing for the CMs as to who was with who. We then hear the adults who the boys should have been with say that the 3 of us cut in front of them.:confused3 They all then proceeded to glare at us! Fun stuff :rolleyes1

We then experienced the jungle cruise for the first time in the dark. We had heard how cool this was on other TRs and it didn't disappoint. It really feels like a completely different ride! It's also just a little spooky going through the caves at night! We really enjoyed the ride despite the drama boarding!

After our cruise we decided to head over to Main Street and seek out a spot for Wishes. We ended up on the curb near Casey's. It turned out we sat next to a nice (and cute) young man Caitlin's age and his father. They were visiting from Toronto (we thought of Queen when we heard they were Canadian) and we enjoyed talking with them about the Olympics (it was just days after the gold medal hockey game between US and Canada) and other things. It was a really pleasant way to pass the time until Wishes.

When Wishes began, I tried taking some fireworks pictures. These aren't the best but the best I took....

When Wishes ended it was time to make our way over to Liberty Square to meet up with the D23-ers and then as a group go to Philharmagic. It was pretty rough getting over there since we were going against the crowd. We just let grandma plow through the crowd and we followed behind. When we got there the D23 group was huge and we couldn't find Michele. We got in line and waited to be directed to Philharmagic.

When we got in we were seated in the back with the other ecvs and wheelchairs and Caitlin and I were on the very end nearest the exit. After singing along to the movie there was to be a special speaker. He was an Imagineer who was to discuss the Fantasyland expansion. The problem was he didn't say anything that everyone hasn't read everywhere! During the Q&A portion he just gave vague answers so that was pretty much a disappointment too! I was so bummed about this whole party!

When he finished they told everyone that we could head outside and have Fantasyland to ourselves. The rides were open, there were supposed to be desserts and special characters. Well Caitlin and I were the first up and out the door and guess who we saw?!!! :yay:

Ya know this post is really long so I'm going to stop here. I'll wait until next time to tell you who we met ;)

Sorry the party is such a disappointment so far. I hope things turn around. Yummies in Fantasyland sounds like it could be a pick-me-up though :goodvibes

::MickeyMoHiya Pal!::MickeyMo

I am enjoying your trip report so far. Your daughter is very beautiful. I love the pictures you took. I can't wait to see more.

You're so mean to leave us like that! :lmao: I really hope that whoever you saw REALLY makes up for the disappointing party so far.

I've never tried the float with orange juice, only pineapple juice. Sounds fantastic!

Thank you! At that point in the night I was pretty frustrated that we'd spent so much money and it didn't seem worth the money at all. As for the yummies in Fantasyland...well I will say that they did not disappoint :)

Hi!:wave2: Glad you're enjoying our report!
Caitlin says "thank you" and we both say thank you for the pics compliment! :goodvibes

Sorry Denise but it was getting really long

Caitlin says she likes the oj better because it doesn't have "such an overwhelming pineappley taste"

Bummer about the D23 party. What was the entree? Caitlin's salad looks pretty decent. Was it really that bad?

OK - what did you find when you left Philamargic? And.... How long are you going to keep us hanging? Hopefully not too long!

Your firework picture location looks perfect and I definitely need to try that next trip.

And what's this about you guys cutting in line????? :rotfl: Grandma must pretty spry as she hops right off that ECV and cuts between 3 pre-teens and their parents. Go grandma! :woohoo: Dumb kids! :rotfl:

I love Jungle Cruise at night - so cool!

Hm, that party did not turn out the way it should have! Sorry it was such a disappointment!

The JC is fun in the dark isn't it?

I finally caught up again. :thumbsup2 Going away for a few weeks does nothing for my Disney addiction! But it did help that one of the destinations was Disneyland Paris! :goodvibes

To be honest I can't even remember what the offerings on the buffet were. For some reason I have no notes from that night and all I recall is that nothing really appealed to us. The salad was ok but we had only had a snack since breakfast so we were pretty hungry and soup and salad wasn't really enough to fill us up. (to be fair though I have been known to be a picky eater :rolleyes1)

The fireworks location was very good but I kept thinking that if I were taller I could get better pictures

We had a few problems with people cutting in front of us in lines that trip. At Epcot a French family cut in front of us at 3 different queues :confused3

I won't leave you hanging too long. This post took me awhile though so you'll have to wait at least another day :)

Thank you but the party did get better. Much, much better :thumbsup2

The jungle cruise is a lot of fun in the dark!

Glad you're caught up! Disneyland Paris?! How wonderful!

Oh what a place to stop! Hopefully the party gets better after this point. I have a feeling it might.

Aww i'm sorry to hear that the party was a disappointment for the most part. Hopefully the rest of the evening made up for it!

Seemed like a good place to stop. Afterall, we have to keep everyone's attention ;) I have a feeling you're right :)

Thank you. I don't know if our expectations were too high? From all we'd heard about other D23 events we thought the whole night would be awesome and it just didn't measure up. For us, what came next made the whole thing worthwhile! :goodvibes

Sorry the D23 event didn't start off too well for you. The salad looks good, but sometimes things look good....and well, the taste is not so good. :confused3

Love the pics you gals got at Minnie's house! I never noticed some of those details before - like the book titles! haha. I really hope they save the houses somehow. I love walking through them and I sure know Lily loves them!

We had people cutting in front of us in lines too. Some were for rides, but mostly it was at food/snack carts. Do they not see you waiting? :confused3

Looking forward to the next update!

Sorry to hear that the D23 party was not what you expected so far :( It sounds like they were very unorganized !

Glad you got those pictures of Toontown , I'm also hoping to get some shots of it in September , that is if it's still there :confused3

Wow, some people are soo rude and then they want to turn around & make it your fault when it's really there's , the nerve !!

Your wishes pictures are beautiful and I love that picture w/ Caitlin & Roy , we have never done that photo op either

Can't wait to see who's waiting outside popcorn::popcorn:: Hope it makes the party take a turn for the better !

Thank you. The salad was alright but just wan't enough when we'd waited all day to eat. If we had eaten lunch the whole thing would have been better since we wouldn't have been so hungry.

Caitlin took all the detailed shots of the houses. She really wanted to capture them one last time. I'm glad Lily loved them! Caitlin's first visit she was 2.5 and she :lovestruc Toon Town!

I have no idea why people think they can cut ahead of a line for a ride or food. Poor manners I guess?

I don't know why the party wasn't better. From what I've read about the Christmas celebration or the recent Flowers and Fireworks party ours seems to have paled in comparison.

I hope Toon Town is still there for you to visit one last time. It's always fun for the kids (and us big kids too :goodvibes)

Thank you. If I were taller or had shorter people in front of me they could have been better

When we got outside the door our attitudes changes completely and the magic was PRICELESS! :goodvibes

Sounds like the party is about to get a whole lot better:cool1:

What is it about people cutting the lines:confused3It always blows my mind when we`re there and see that happen....at least we know we raised our children properly, right Dawn:love:
