I saw a piture of a filet at the Wave on the most recent food porn. I would like opinions of the filet there. The allears menu doesn't list a filet on the Wave menu. I know Alllears isn't the most reliable though. Thanks

I posted a recent picture of the filet. It's listed on the menu as "grilled beef tenderloin" and the waiter explained that the "cut" that day was filet.

It was good but not great. Steak isn't usually something I order, I tend to go for poultry or fish, and I don't eat a lot of red meat in general. But I enjoy a good filet on occasion so I decided to go for it. I'm starting to learn, however, that maybe I should start ordering my steak medium rather than medium-well. I say this especially with the steak at The Wave because it didn't have much flavor to me. Could have been an off night or maybe it was just overdone. 2 of us ordered the filet, 1 the chili rubbed flat iron steak, and 1 ordered the linguini with clams. He RAVED about the linguini, even later in the week he was still talking about it! The rest of us agreed that our steaks were okay but not the best we've had. The best part to me was the dessert, I ordered the American Flavors. Overall, we had a nice meal and we will return to the Wave.

and filet is tenderloin...google it.

Nebraska BEEF eater here. We love our steaks, and wouldn't order fish or chicken if a good steak is on the menu . Have eaten at The Wave several times and get the tenderloin/filet. We love it. Always cooked to order properly, great sauce on it. We always order our steaks rare (which is how they are meant to be served, lol. Juicy! Tender! Not turned into bad roast beef by overcooking.)

I have had it once. It was pretty good. Not enough to make me go back just for the filet, but I enjoyed it. I much preferred the Concourse Steakhouse filet..... which doesn't exist any more. :sad2:

I LOVE the filet at Chefs de France... and it DOES keep me going back! :thumbsup2

I had it in December of '09 on a bed of white bean mash. It was one of the best steaks I had eaten in awhile. It was tender and delicious. It was actually better than the steak I had a few days later at Narcoossee's and I've never had a bad steak at Narcoossee's. We're doing the Wave again in April and I can't wait to eat a steak there.

Now I'm hungry!!! :rotfl2:

Had the flat iron steak with the Chili Rub in October - it was incredible! One of the better steaks (flavour, seasoning and cooking) that I've had recently. And the accompaniments were outstanding - the bonito mash and the beet salad - yum!

I had the filet there in December and really enjoyed it. The Wave was one of our favorite meals. I plan on returning whenever our next trip is.

I loved the tenderloin the first time I had it two years ago. Then I ordered it this past Sept. and had the same problem you did. Really overdone. And I had questioned the waiter particularly on their definitions of medium and medium well. Steak definitely didn't fit the description of doneness. DH has his medium and it looked so different from mine.

I sent it back TWICE since it wasn't anything near what I ordered, was like the sole of a shoe!. The third time the chef came out himself and had me cut into it to see that it was to my liking. I specifically told the waiter to ask the chef not to butterfly the steak, as that just overcooks it. First two came out, you guessed it, butterflied and very well done.

I do like this restaurant, but now I know I have to order my fillet/tenderloin there medium to account for the slight overcooking, and make sure the waiter relays in plain English NOT to cut into the steak!

For those whole love Le Cellier mushroom filet would you say this is a good substitute? Im thinking of booking dinner here if LeCellier takes the filet off their lunch menu come March..

I would like to know opinions on that also. Also other suggestions if the fillet @ lecellier is taken off the lunch menu.

DH and DS both liked the Wave filet but it was small. Both are big guys 6-2, 220ish. Lecelliers was good too and bigger. They both had potatoes instead of the risotto tho.
