The Famous Monte Cristo Sandwich

Besides the Monte Cristo, are there any other must haves at Cafe Orleans? How 'bout the Mickey beignets? DF and I are going for our honeymoon in May!!:goodvibes

Yes, those garlic fries are the perfect side dish for the Monte Cristo sandwich. I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about the combination.

Also, if you're at the Cafe Orleans in the winter, their hot chocolate is the absolute best!

When we celebrated my birthday at Cafe Orleans, the waitress gave me some pixie dust in the form of beignets -- just a few more calories/fat grams to go with the rest of the meal.:dance3:

It is still available at the Blue Bayou, but for many years now, it has only been on the lunch menu. There are also Monte Cristo sandwiches (2 kinds) at Cafe Orleans across the walkway from the Blue Bayou.

Sorry, it has never made it to any restaurant in DW.

When I worked at DW, way back when Hollywood Studios was Disney MGM Studios, they sold Monte Cristos in the Commisary. They were SOOO good. I used to go there on break and get them.

Hmm, not wanting to stir the pot here, but I don't really get what's so great about the Monte Cristos. I've tried them, but each time was left with a heavy feeling in my stomach for several hours. I think I'll stick to the crepes at Cafe Orleans.

Blue Bayou now only does their Monte Cristo at lunch, but you can get the same sandwich anytime across the way at Cafe Orleans for $7 cheaper. That bayou atmosphere comes at a price!

I would say my favorite things at CO are the Pomme Frites, YUM!!!! I also love the gumbo. The MC is a good sandwich but it's very heavy, too heavy for me. DBF and I usually share, I get a bowl of gumbo and a starter salad, he gets the MC, I eat 1/4 or 1/2 of the MC and he eats some of my gumbo and salad. It sort of balances the badness of the sandwich I guess. lol So I always have the Pomme Frites when we eat there!

Not everyone likes them. If you don't then don't eat them. :) I don't eat the MC at the BB, there are other things I prefer to eat there. And yes, the MC is cheaper at CO but remember you don't get any sides at CO, it's just the sandwich and maybe a few grapes on the side. At BB you get a salad or gumbo to start, the BEST cheesey potatoes EVER, rolls and veggies.

Hi :) I am going to try the MC for my first time ever. I figured it to be super rich and I hope super good too :) Okay so here's the plan, eat an MC, run straight for Indy single rider LOL jk :) but don't sit behind me... muahaha ;) And now for the question that gets me boo'ed lol:

I am assuming you eat an MC with a knife and fork, correct? lol sorry in advance :)
