The Exercise Trail To Wilderness Lodge May Be Closed For a While

Cant remember where I heard the path had been paved now. Anyone have an update? Hoping for a miracle that it is open for our trip at the end of the month. We are bringing our bikes and our boys have never ridden the path. We did long ago before we had kids and really enjoyed it.
We were just there at FW and from the bus the trail looked mostly paved. They were working on a few segments - couldn't tell exactly what they were doing - looked promising though! 🤞

Thanks for the update, Joy. Hope you and Robert are well. ::yes::

We are Ed, and hope y'all are also.
We hadn't been to WDW in almost 5 years so decided to go for Flower & Garden which I love. We were very fortunate that it was relatively a slower week, and with rope dropping was nearly able to walk on the first hour - no Genie anything (which seemed restrictive timewise and not beneficial to us anyway). Rode Ratatouille twice in a row - neat ride. Weather turned cool (cold) at times. FW was "more normal" than we feared - all in all a satisfying trip!
Robert rope dropped Star Wars Rise of Resistance and Millennium Falcon at HS.

No, it has not reopened. Took the FW bus the other day and the trail is there/in good condition, but blocked at both ends. I suspect we’re looking at the completion of Lakeside Lodge before it reopens - there will be heavy construction traffic on that end for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I said this back before Thanksgiving last month in a similar thread when they restarted (publicly) the R* project. Helen Keller and Ray Charles (RIP 🙏) both saw this project coming to fruition.

The die has already been cast. But Opening Day is claimed for 2027 which means we will have two more years of NO exercise trail to WL I bet. This project was first announced in 2019 and we have had a few years of grace to enjoy the Fort as it still is before it changes forever.

See post #115.

Which means the schmucks in Disney management will have taken away the Exercise Trail between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness for 8 bleepin' years +/-.

All for a lousy buck $. And they don't fr*****' care. :sad2:

We feel the same as you. We've written to Disney and spoke to many CMs. They give us the company line just to move us along. So now we just want them to get the monstrosity done just so we can get back our trail. The wildlife will all be gone after this is done. Too many people and the construction going on, the deer I'm sure have relocated to quiet, less busy pastures.

@Love Ft Wilderness , I enjoy staying up close to Bay Lake in loop 100 because it's close to the Settlement Bus Depot, HDDR, and the boat dock on Bay Lake. So I agree with you.

But after the DVC plops down behind Pioneer Hall (albeit with its own boat dock [in the drawings]), I think I'll go hide back in 1500 (TENT) loop while I still can. It will be too crowded, too loud, and not relaxing down in 100/200. Give me the canals, the sunshine, the turkeys that sleep across the waterway, and the peace and quiet on the back of the hill on the outside of that loop.

You and me are kindred spirits on this issue I think.
