The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

You can do it! But...just remember it's ok if you need to get an ECV for part or most of the trip. It is a process. You are up and moving and taking care of yourself. You are awesome![/QUOTE

Thank you for your encouragement!

I'm nervously excited about this trip. No matter what it will be good. We may need a lot of breaks but we will still have a blast.

Heya guys!

We fly to WDW in four days time for our first ever trip! Like most posts here from newbies, I am incredibly worried about fitting in things :(

I'm a UK 20-22 (US 16-20 depending on the cut) and I guess I'm just a bit afraid of being embarrassed in front of so many people if I can't fit onto rides :( I guess my biggest worries are those with lap bars and more importantly, those with shoulder harnesses as these are my nieces favourites rides and she's been talking non stop about how excited she is to go on with me!

We came back from Disneyland Paris in January, and a couple of rides were super uncomfortable - but I have read that the rides are much smaller at DLP.

Someone please reassure me and tell me I'm worrying over nothing?

You should be able to ride everything at Disney!!!

If you go to Universal, you may have a little trouble over there. Somebody else can speak about Universal, but I still think you can ride everything.

One consideration though is that some rides have 1 lap bar. Rides like Big Thunder Mountain can get a little scary if a plus size person rides with a small child because the lap bar will not come down far enough on the child. The other issue people have is with the walking. Again at your size, you shouldn't have any problem. Just pace yourself.

I've seen some rather fit people get awfully tired after walking 14 hours a day for 7 days. Keep in mind, I was about to fall over when they said, "Gee, I'm a little tired."

It will be fine! Don't worry!!!

Thank you :)

Will it be the same at the water parks? In the UK, they tend to have weight limits at around 235-240lb. Are there similar weight limits on the slides at Disney?

Has anyone flown AirTran recently?

I am Pooh size, as well as my MIL. I am concerned about being able to buckle the seat belt. I have looked on seatguru, and it shows we are in standard coach seats.

I am 5 ft 4 and 240 lbs, I carry my weight in the middle. Last time I flew was about 4 years ago, we flew American Airlines for a work conference and the seat belt was tight, but do able. I will be so embarrassed if I need an extender.

Thanks for any advice.

My sister went to a travel website and bought her own extender. She doesn't always need it but it is a comfort to her not to have to ask, and to just have it handy in case she does.

You are going to be FINE! (7DMT may be the only exception based on what I've seen in this thread.) But otherwise, there are so many people of various sizes and shapes at Disney, the rides really do accommodate just about everyone.

Hello all,

So I am a size 22/24. I am not worried about the rides at Disney. I am worried about the airplane ride. I am flying Southwest. Anyone fly Southwest at my size. BTW I have a big bottom and hips. Any help would be great. Thank you.

I'm the same size, stomach and hips are where my weight is and only 5" 5'. I flew last May with no problem and no seatbelt extender needed on southwest. I flew with my husband and daughter. Daughter was three and she was in the middle so that gave us more arm room. Not worrying about sharing an arm rest. When I flew alone last October, I chose an aisle seat so I can lean away from the middle seat. I was fine.

We are flying this week again.

I just went to Disney and Universal at size 16/18 (US). I fit in everything at Disney just fine. Nothing was even close to not fitting.

At Universal I didn't fit on the HP Forbidden Journey. I did the test seat and couldn't even get it to the yellow light to ask for modified seating. :headache: I was heartbroken.

Oh no. I'm now so worried about my trip. I'm dying to ride HPFJ, but I'm an 18/20. Yikes.

If it's any consolation, the Gringotts ride is totally fine! Only waited about 90 minutes for it too.

ETA: I'm also busty (DD), so I think that was part of my problem on HPFJ.

I am so worried about the 7DMT for our upcoming trip. I have always been pooh sized, and have never had problems at Disney World. I have recently lost 50 pounds, but am still worried about that. I will be so embarrassed if I cannot fit on it. I am worried about my legs because I have bigger thighs! Any recent encounters that want to try and ease my mind?

I have the same concerns for my husband and myself. We will be down there 8/22-28. I have 2 days of fast passes. I am not so worried if I have to leave as I don't embarrass easily. My concern is if neither of us fit and we disappoint my 4 year old. I really wish the had a test car. I will be sure to report back my findings. If we ride, I will give out measurement s so people can compare.

That's what I am leaning towards doing. Hoping I don't need it, but it's there if I do.

I would feel really bad the rest of my trip if I was embarrassed on the plane ride there.

Thank you :).

It's snug, I'm not going to lie. However, remember you can put one foot in front of the other to make your thighs a little slimmer. I also didn't realize it was snug till it was on and secure and we were starting to move. I'm a 16/18 in pants. I believe I saw posted it was 13 inches, but it's not across your thighs, its just above your knees.

Here's the image! Once you get past the knee area (where it's 13.5 inches, it's roomier around the thigh.

Are you traveling with your family or somebody you know? If so, you can raise the armrest and share with your family as I'm sure they won't mind!

If you're traveling alone is where it could be more of an issue. SW has an amazing policy for those needing an extra seat. I flew not to long ago with a friend of mine who uses it and was really surprised by how the whole thing works.

Does anyone have any idea who much room there is for the upper thigh, if the knee area is 13.5 inches?

As I'm quite short (5ft 3in) my legs would be no where near as long as that mans. With shorter legs, does that mean they'd be less squished, because they'd end higher up (does that even make sense? Hahaha!)? I can fit my knees into a 13.5in gap, but defo not my thighs when sat down!

I'm sure you'll understand if I don't read 100 pages of this thread to see if this had already been mentioned but I've never heard of them before and I've been on the Dis for several years.

Did you know that you can buy your own airline seat belt extender? They have Type A which fits most airlines and Type B which fits southwest. I found them on amazon and ebay for about $20-40. How awesome! I'd love to have one instead of being embarrassed asking for one.

Hi set,

Several years ago when I was going multiple times a year with my bff we purchased these on line. They were great, and we didn't have to ask for them every time we flew.. especially since we had to ask several times before we got them...
