The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

i'm 5'7 and right under 300... I'm concerned about star tours and dinosaur. I know the DBF is going to want to do star tours and don't want to be embarassed about not being able to fit or buckle the seatbelt. I have no problem with any other seat/seatbelt ride (Test Track was a little scary, but it was because i felt so rushed to get the dang belt buckled fast enough) no issues with soarin' or TOT etc. Can anyone give me any info to help me feel better? LOL

U will be very comfortable on both. Just pull the belt all the way out as u are sitting and it will close just fine. We were just there, and i am about the same size. I had no issues! No worries!!!!!!

I have a question...i was reading some of the posts in regards to flying with SW...it seems as everyone who has been "pooh sized" and has been posting about it has flown with a companion so truthfully you could lift the arm rests up after initial takeoff but going to wdw I am flying solo and part of the way back as well...I am about 320 lbs and am worried about this...Ive been to DL a billion times so Im not worried about any of the ride issues but I am scared to death of airline part...I have been losing weight and I expect to have lost some more by the time I go in Nov. but I dont know how much I will lose and how much of a difference it will make:confused3

I'm pooh sized and flew SW alone. I decided that, for my sanity, I would just go ahead and buy the "customer of size" ticket, which is two seats. It made my life much easier, even though it was pretty expensive. It was worth it because I wasn't worried about the person sitting next to me complaining that my fat was all over them, or the flight attendant removing me from the plane. I have a tendency to think in "worst case scenario", though. Honestly, it's your decision. Some FAs let it slide. Others don't. I decided to err on the side of caution and buy the second seat.

 :flower3:

I have not flown SW for quite a while, but I have flown them when I was heavier than you. I always try to get an aisle seat, so I can overflow to the aisle. I am about 300 pounds now, but I have just lost 64 lbs, so I was at least your size last time I flew SW.:grouphug:

that is just not something that I have the option of doing but thank you for posting:)

ah thank you...Ive been losing weight as well...I have lost 35 lbs and I'm sure I will be below 300 when I fly but that has been something that has worried me to death...I read this one horror story about a lady who was supposedly under 250lbs and they wouldnt let her on the plane because she "looked" too fat...they didnt go by the companies policy (which by the way I'm taking a copy of in my purse with me:rotfl2:). She ended up getting her money back, additional flight vouchers and a formal apology from SW...I do NOT want to deal with that at all. Which is why I asked this in the first place. However, if you flew at 300lbs then that makes me rest at ease better..thank you:hug::goodvibes

I sometimes have trouble seeing where the belt clicks into so my daughter sits next to me and helps me...they rush you and that makes me nervous!

Hi Everyone... How are the new lap bars on Splash Mountain? Thanks ( :

I rode it last weekend and had no trouble with it at all, but because I carry my weight in my tummy though it stops the lap bar higher than the non-pooh riding with me would prefer. She said she came off her seat more than she would have liked. :rolleyes1

Edit: I found answers to my questions in this thread on the Universal section of the board. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2489210
Just goes to show I wasn't paying enough attention when I looked around before I posted. :)

So I have a slightly off-Dis question: when we go to WDW in a month and a half we are also visiting Isle of Adventure to go to Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I have read that the seats on the main ride there are small and there is a "three click rule" about the over-shoulder restraints, where the restraint must click 3 times and the tiny CMs will just shove and shove on them to try to get the restraints to click. I also read that they look for a certain body type to get into the tester chairs as people are waiting in line-- generally large people of course, but specifically people with a lot up top. We are very well endowed and I was wondering if any other busty people (or really anyone over a size 18/20/22) tried to ride and what their experiences have been like.
I really want to geek out on the ride but if my breasts are going to be crushed in the process I might decide to skip it and have a frozen butterbeer instead.

There are test chairs outside of the HP ride, as well as inside, as you're about to board the ride. DF and I weren't asked to try the seats outsde, but got pulled aside in front of everyone when we got to the front of the line. I'm 4'11 and i have a 36D chest and some spare tire going. He's 6'0 and about 250, so not small. We were put into a line with modified seats. Luckily the mother in the line next to us felt it was the time to tell her son that we need seats for bigger people, so thats why we were in the special line. Never would have happened at Disney, and I will NEVER go back to Universal because of it. Mortifying.

Just wanted to say I always have problems with the test track ...im smaller on top and big at the bottom. Its always a struggle to buckle that seat belt! My last time on was mortifying...I couldnt get the seat belt to buckle and they waited for minutes everyone staring watching me struggle . I was so upset I didnt enjoy the ride at all . I just wanted to burst into tears ...than I lost weight roughly 40 pounds...and still a problem with the seat belt! I was so upset.

Im so sorry you guys went through that..that leaves me with a reminder of something that happened at DL a couple of years ago...now at DL, splash has a long with 4 seats, one behind the other. They only fit one person at a time...well, when I got in the log something told me i was going to have a problem getting out..I spent the entire ride worried about how I was going to get out of that thing...when we finally came to a stop and it was time to get out, sure enough I couldnt do it...I tried and tried and couldnt pull myself out of the seats..I think my legs werent strong enough.. I ended up having to have my friend and another guy help pull me out...talk about MORTIFYING...needless to say, I havent been on since:sad2: I think now I might be ok riding it but Im so scared of chancing it..

The trick I've always done with the test track seat belt has worked very well for me. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, hips and butt.

I pull the seat belt all the way out just before I sit down. Then I buckle it. It usually buckles easily for me this way.

I also do this trick on other rides with seat belts.

I fit just fine in the test seats outside the Forbidden Journey but when I got to the ride inside, they couldn't do the 3rd click so I couldn't ride.

I'm big in the stomach, hips and butt. I was prepared for it to happen so I just left and went shopping in the gift shop while the rest of my family rode.

I need to drop about 20 lbs before our next trip to Universal in the spring because I really want to ride Forbidden Journey and I'm hoping with the newer seat adjustments and a 20 lb weight loss, I can do it.

Saw that several people posted questions/concerns regarding seatbelts on several Disney rides (Dinosaur, Test Track, etc). I have a GREAT tip I learned from this thread and has worked for me ever since. It goes like this:

Step 1 - Get on ride and remain standing above the seat you will be sitting in.

Step 2 - Reach down and pull the seatbelt all the way up as far as you can while still standing or half sitting. You will be really suprised how far that baby can go.

Step 3 - Sit down kinda sideways, sort of on one butt cheek, turned towards where you need to click the seat belt in so you can see it and your, uh, girth isn't covering it up.

Step 4 - Click your seatbelt into place then scootch around into proper position and your belt will snug down on you like it is supposed to.

The first time or two you try this you will feel uncoordinated (at least I did). But let me tell you I used to get really stressed trying to get the seatbelts fastened - I carry my weight in my tummy, hips and butt and I do a good job of hiding the seatbelt with my ample self. Now that I know this trick these rides are SO much less stressful for me and this trick also kind of works on airplanes too! Hope I didn't offend anyone with any of my descriptive words! :goodvibes

Totally agree - and after a couple of times you'll look far more elegant than almost everyone (yes including size 6s!) at doing it. You can see where the buckle is meant to go and have the belt all the way out which makes life a lot easier.

This is exactly how I do it as well! I kind of floundered and found this method on my own, so it's funny that others do the very same thing.
