The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Thank u so much..... I'm just so scared to be laughed at... I'm not much of a roller coaster rider was just worring about basic rides shows and simulator rides...

Don't worry. As said no one will laugh. You will be amazed at the people that use the handicap enterance. Strollers, people limping, wheel chairs, people carrying sleeping children...etc. Just head for that gate and usually the CM just opens the door, no issue.

If you are still afraid to go thru that and insist on using the turnstile, go thru it sideways. That usually works well. Depending on how wide it is, I will do this anyway.

As for rides, any ride is good. WDW is SO set up to be Pooh people friendly. (unlike Universal or any other theme/amusement park).

Some tips I can give you are, if there is a seat belt, make sure your ride partner (spouse in my case) is on the side the latch is. That way if you have difficulty they can help you. Also pull the belt all the way out before trying to latch it.
(this is easy to do, while waiting in line just look to see where people are latching it and switch places if you need to)

For lap bars, cross your legs at the ankles if you are having difficulties. This drops your legs off your abdomen making more room.

I am a Pooh and ride everything. There are a couple rides, like astro orbitor, dumbo...that Dh and I ride seperate. But most things we can ride together. And he isn't no slim jim...at 6'3 and 280 he is a big boy!!

Most of all, enjoy and don't be aware of your size. Truthfully no one else is. People are there to have a good time not look to see who is a Pooh. ;)

They have turn-style at the park entrance but they are wide the only one that is going to be snug is at Haunted Mansion . As past poster said turn sideways . The thing to remember is everyone is there to make magical memories with their family so if its snug who cares your never going to see those people again . Just relax and have a good time . I took my fluffy self to the pool everyday and there where all kinds of shapes and sizes but everyone was enjoying them selves. All I can say is ITS DISNEY:thumbsup2

Haven't been to US in quite a few years, (never been to IOA) before WWoHP. From what I have heard and/or read, it is not very Pooh size friendly. But, as I understand it, they have test seats you can try if you are unsure. As for Disney, relax and have an amazing trip! There are people of ALL shapes and sizes. You shouldn't have a problem with anything! :goodvibes

US not Pooh or tall or particularly handicapped friendly. They do have test seats for lots of the rides. My teenage DS could not ride any of the rollercosters. We were disappointed, although i understand why those rides need a very tight harness to hold you!! Interestingly, although he and my DD are about the same size Pooh-wise, my DS could not fit because he is very tall and broad shouldered, so the harnesses could not fit over his shoulders and chest. As for handicapped issues, lots of rides you have to change to their WC to go through the line. I did not ride much because the effort of changing in and out of their WCs takes a huge toll on my stamina. And Harry Potter, although something to see, I would ask the designers what were you thinking? I cannot even go into a store to shop cause they are too small.

Thanks for the extra info! I was thinking of doing a day trip to US/IOA during our Disney trip this Nov. Maybe now, I'll just save the $330 it would cost my family just to enter both parks.

I am Pooh sized too...I am short, only 5'1" and weigh 325. I am loving this thread, thanks so much to the original poster! I just wanted to "weigh in" (haha) on this issue too!

First, I've never had any trouble riding any rides at all...Space Mountain is a tad difficult for me to get out of the car at the end just due to the fact that I have to get my legs back out from in front of me quickly...the Haunted Mansion turnstile is always an issue for me...SO freaking embarrassing when you get stuck in that thing even going sideways and there are people behind you! I actually used the Handicapped entrance last time but you miss the "preshow" :( The walking at Epcot is brutal...you have to have a "touring plan" in order to maximize your day there! I love Epcot though...and have never had any trouble fitting on anything there, nor at the other 2 parks! Love Love Love Expedition Everest! I rode that thing 5 times back to back the last time we went! It was the best experience, riding it in the dark and when it was cold outside...wonderful!!

I am a nurse and usually wear my tennis shoes similar to what I wear at work...I have short wide feet so it is hard to find shoes that fit well and don't make my feet hurt! I wear a 6.5 in length but usually have to wear a 7.5 in order to fit the width :( I love my Sketcher Premiums...they have good support and are comfortable to wear all day.

Bathing suits are a whole different issue altogether! I hate my bathing suit...especially the top! I am going to check out some of these sites everyone has posted to see what I can find!

I am currently back on Weight Watchers (my 17 yr old Tigger shaped son is trying to keep me on the straight and narrow...lol) and hope to lose a bit of weight before we go back to the World in late October! My dream is to fit throught that darn turnstile at the HM! :rotfl:

Hello all

as most have said "great Thread"

we are landing in LA in sep and we are basically coming with empty suitcases
i havnt purchased clothes in ages and am surviving on rags at the moment (deliberate) :lmao:

the plan is to go clothes shopping the day after we land so we have some good quality "en trend" clothes to wear during our 41 day holiday :rotfl2: (we arnt really that type) ((not that there is anything wrong with that))

could my fellow pooh's advise of a good place in LA or San Diego where we will have no trouble purchasing 41 days worth of nice clothes ? we are going to need, sneakers (15) Bathers male and female (depending how i feel that day) ((no that was a joke)) :lmao: (((its for my wife))) shorts, shirts, (will we even need jumpers ?) well, basically anything that takes our fancy and is in the 6xl range (i think the wife is like size 22) (aus sizing)

we plan to fill a couple of suitcases, that was the plan all along as shopping is much cheaper in USA (you are very lucky in that respect)

want proof ?
i just purchased a $600 camera (waterproof ft3) from hong kong (cheap in usa to but postage was a killer) for $330aus
also i purchased a phillips 1290 3d shaver (came in the mail today) for $289 delivered from amazon, same shaver here in aus sells for $600 :scared1:

all your advice is much appreciated and we really look forward to visiting for the first time and experiencing American culture, including the los vegas shooting range :rolleyes1, i mean im not into guns and really dont like them, but when in rome, do as the romans do yeh !

have never owned a gun here in aus, have never wanted to, why ? because guns go bang pirate:

DH & I went to Vegas in Feb and visited the shooting range! It was my first time fireing an AK-47 (pink of course) and I must admit it was the most fun I have had outside of Disney :rotfl:

Never been to LA so I cannot help you with local stores, but I can say as a woman size 20-22 I personally love Maurices plus section. Since they are a womens clothing chain maybe you will see one out there. Old Navy is a good one to- some times they carry xxl or 22 in store for woman.

I did allot of clothes "looking" in Vegas since most of the more expensive trendy stores seemed to stop their sizes at 10. :confused3 Boy, did my husband get lucky :lmao: Ironically it was the same way for us in Rome, teeny tiny little clothes, big enormous price tags :rotfl2:

Hopefully LA is a little more Pooh friendly :goodvibes

Just google for the nearest mall. I mean there are tons of outlets in California and at least two great ones in Vegas and those will get you some designer names for half way decent prices but a regular old mall is your best bet for plus size clothing as far as selection and price. Look for ones near you that contain:

JCPenneys
Dillards
Foleys
Sears
Lane Bryant
Old Navy
Torrid
Catherines
Cato's
Burlington
TJMaxx
Ross

These are all department stores that are common in most malls, have wide selections (about half will have clothes and shoes and sportswear) and the prices are very affordable.

There are also some bargin stores (for the cheap stuff that will be seasonal flipflops, sunscreen, bottled water,food/snacks,socks, undies, tshirts, swim stuff, etc)

Target
Kmart
Walmart

The outlet malls that are most prevelant are the Prime Outlets, Premium Outlets and Tangier Outlets.

Coach
Nike
Reebok
UnderArmour
Jones Newyork
Polo Ralph Lauren
Dooney and Bourke
Levi
Crocs
Dress Barn
and many many more

Have fun shopping and enjoy your holidays in America.

One of the largest malls in the country is South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. I used to shop in Costa Mesa years ago when I lived there. I would definitely suggest heading out there.

I don't know why I haven't asked this question here before...can anyone recommend a bathing suit WITHOUT padded/molded cups? I am quite plus sized (24-26) everywhere but my bust. Can't seem to find a bathing suit without cups that I cannot fill!

I have the same trouble! I am extremely flat chested and pooh sized. In the past the best suits I have found for this problem is halter style tops that i can tie. I have had luck with swimsuitsforall.com before but it is hit or miss. Recently I tried womanwithin.com and the suit I order has giant molded cups.

I have this problem with bras and most tops for plus sized woman. I hope you find something! I feel your pain! :thumbsup2

I know that Lane Bryant has bathing suites that have built in bras that you can choose what bra size you are so you can get a closer fit to what you actually are in the bust.
