The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I have rode on Air trans and their seats are not bad. I am bigger than a 3x I did get an extender. When I asked for one they was very nice. You should have any problems with the seats.

Sadly, AirTran has been bought out by Southwest and Southwest have said that they will incorporating all of their policies over AirTran's as they merge the two airlines. I'm sure it won't happen overnight but for those who like AirTran and don't like Southwest (such as myself), it's not good news. We're also going to lose jobs here in the Orlando area because AirTran's headquarters were here and Southwest says they will merge them into their headquarters in Dallas.

Obviously at 100 lbs overweight my idea of walking is to the mailbox and back!

:confused3 I'm probably 170 pounds over the so-called "ideal" for my height and I'm training for a 5k. I also swim in the summer, play tennis in the winter, and do yoga year-round. Not all pooh-sized people are inactive or overeat. :thumbsup2

If you're not inactive from disability, just start slow and build up. Do whatever you can easily do today, then add a minute or a block, or whatever tomorrow. You'll be able to walk the parks no problem in no time.

For me at the park:

In the summer I wear dresses. I do my best to find dresses with pockets so I don't have to carry a bag. If I wear a dress without pockets, I carry a drawstring backpack. They're extremely lightweight and comfortable. But not stylish. And it's hard to find things in them. So I prefer to just wear a dress with pockets - but they can be hard to find sometimes. In the spring/fall/winter I just wear jeans. This year I'm thinking of pairing dresses with a cardigan and leggings or knee-highs, though. Sock Dreams has some thigh-highs that fit up to 24 inch calves. (http://www.sockdreams.com/products/sock-collections/stripes/extraordinary-striped-thigh-highs and http://www.sockdreams.com/products/extraordinary-thigh-highs) We'll see how cold it gets this year!

I get dresses mostly from Old Navy and Avenue. Old Navy tends to have pilling issues in the summer humidity, though. :/

I do own an ebags Piazza day bag. It was great for our Chicago trip because I just had so much we had to carry with us every day (we used CTA and our feet to get around - makes it harder to get back to the hotel room and grab something), but it's kinda heavy for the little we need to carry for Disney. But if you're carrying everything for everyone, it's great - it even has a water bottle holder built in. I don't even have the strap let out all the way and it hits below the hip. It does shuffle around some, though - if I put it towards the back, it will eventually shuffle around to the front.

Underneath my dresses I wear Avenue tuxedo bras and seamless boyshort panties. I've never had a chafing problem, and find the bras extremely comfy. I usually wear Danskin exercise shorts under, too, but not always.

If I do get any sort of rash or chafing (usually under my belly if it happens, and more likely from tennis than Disney), I use Gold Bond powder on it and it's gone within a couple days.

For shoes I wear Malindi crocs. The only issue I have with these is that the 6 is too big and the 5 is too small so I wear the 6 and they have fallen off getting in a ride vehicle! I can't stand shoes that go between my toes, though. I have a couple pairs of Alice, but they just aren't as comfy and the button on the inside rubs if my feet swell at all. I love New Balance for fitness walking/running, tennis, etc. but not for standing around a lot like at Disney.

For my hair, in the summer I put it in the Odango style (not with hair hanging out, just the buns) while it's still wet. It stays in place, often still wet, all day, and keeps me cool. We bring a mister fan that DH keeps in one of his cargo short pockets, but really, with my hair like that, I can just dump water on it from anywhere and it'll be fine and I stay fairly cool that way. Don't forget - ice water from the CS restaurants is free. Drink, drink, drink! You wouldn't expect your car to not overheat without water, so don't expect your body to, either. Before you get there, too. Whenever I know we are doing something dehydrating, I make sure to get a little extra water starting the week before.

Swimsuits are hard for me. I have functional ones for swimming but they aren't cute at all. I hate paying a ton for something cute, especially since my weight is rarely stable. I love a couple of the ones on the Always For Me site. I just need to brace myself for paying $80 for something I likely won't get much use out of.

I'm leaving on Monday morning (full flight, wish me luck!) and I'm 5'7 and a size 28, plus major baggage in the rear if you know what I mean. This is my 3rd DW trip. The first two times I went, I never even had the gusto or courage to even attempt to ride any of the rides because of my size. After reading this thread, I am confident that 3 times a charm and this will be one of the most exciting DW trips to date :woohoo:!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so hope you rode!

Does anyone have experience flying with Air Tran and their seats?

I'm a 3x, so I'm a little concerned. I'll be on the aisle with my DD7 and DNiece24 (non-Poohsized) in the row with me.

We rode AirTran in April - my hip measurement was about 63 then - I fit just fine. DH & I got two seats together and had no problems. I did need an extender, but just barely. Armrest went down all the way, but we put it up since DH is pooh sized also.

Does anyone know anything about Alliegant Air? How tight are their seats? We are using them for a quick trip in December. I am a 1x and hubby is a 4x. We paid the extra $$ to choose our seats so we would be sure to be beside each other in the row of 2 seats. We thought that way no one could complain about us encroaching on their space.

Wow, I love this thread! We are a pooh size couple and have done a dining review, but we had some negative feedback about how fat we were. We have been discouraged that some would be so mean, but thankfully the mod deleted the comments off our review.

Ok, here's my question: what are so good about the Teva flip flops. I hate most all flip flops because they give me blisters, but I would love to wear flip flops. Thanks so much.

WHAT!!! are you joking me??? I can't believe that people would even bring up your size. I haven't read your review yet, but I am appauled that anyone would make negative remarks. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. Hope they didn't make you feel too bad.

:) Ok, me,me,me, next! At 5'4" and 226# most days I range in sizes at times because I am bigger in the middle and up top, with no real butt. These are the things that work for me. I am 41 and a nurse.

1. I recently purchased the cute A line polo dresses from Sport Savvy on QVC. I ordered a 2x so they wouldn't hug my middle and I have been very pleased. They hit me just above the knees and are very cool and cute.

2. I wear scetchers bright eyes tennis shoes at work, they are clog type sneakers and are comfy.

3. I recently ordered Denim & Co shorts from QVC and got a 1x due to the hind end issues and found I should have gotten a XL becasue the have a lot of stretch. I generally have to pull them up like Tweedle Dum shorts but they still are a great length under t shirts.

4. As a wound care/skin care nurse this is my skin care regimen for grooves and folds in my skin...yep...use your imagination. I use a bra liner every day. I purchase them from Walter Drake for 3 at $9.99, usually they come in differnt lengths. Before I use the liner I do a light dusting with Sween's Microguard powder (2%miconozole), under the breast. That also goes in my belly fold, and I top it off down there with a light application of Sween's Baza Cream (2%miconozole) if the area has been itchy. The bra liners are washed daily and absorb sweat all day. So I have dozens. You can purchase items from Sween with free shipping and they are at my home usually within 5 days. A bottle of powder will last me about 6 weeks.

5. As another PP stated I too use the Vera Bradley Mini Hipster. Works great.

I especially hope the skin care and bra liners help someone.

I haven't ridden them, but have you checked http://seatguru.com/?

Two seats together should be fine, I think. That's what we did with AirTran - two together on a two-seat row. The seat widths for us were 18 inches, and I fit with armrest down with 63-ish inch hips. I did need an extender, but only barely.

:)I am going to WDW in May of 2011. I am a 20/22 with most of my weight being in the middle and butt. I have dunlap disease :) in that my belly hangs over my hair line. I have had a c-section with a bikini line cut and it sweats profusely even just hanging at the house. Would the powder/deoderant thing work to help the infection/smell. It gets really bad sometimes. Thank you so much in advance. This is a first trip for my 6yo and I don't want him to be embarrassed because his mommy stinks. :sad1:

Last time I went to WDW I carried the Vera Bradley backsack. It's a smaller drawstring backpack. I am pooh sized and had no problem getting it on and off and it fit nicely into the bag cubbies on the rides. I carried bottles of water, my camera and wallet in there every day. It was perfect! The only problem is that style has been discontinued. You have to get one on ebay or somewhere like that. I've been looking for a new one to take on our trip to Disney next month and ebay has heaps of styles available. Hope this helps! Love the thread!!

Just got back 10/8-10/10. WDW was hot! And sunny. I wore Junonian cargo shorts (unfortunately you can't buy them anymore) in light twill and QuikWik biker underware. This worked exceedingly well! No chafing between the thighs. And I noticed at Magic Kingdom one of the CMs wearing a dress had on bicycle shorts underneath. (she was sort of dancing to the music and twirling her dress) I laughed and said, "Love your bicycle shorts" and then she flashed me.

I just got back and was lucky to depart in The Big Front Seat but had to fly regular/econo home. Spirit airlines (who has to be the greediest airlines ever) is now cramming 3 seats on both sides of the aisle. Even normal sized people are uncomfortable! So avoid Spirit airlines unless you can pay extra and get The Big Front Seat (which there are only 4 on the Airbus). Extremely uncomfortable 2.5 hour flight.

5'6", size 20/22... here are my hints:

Spray my feet with antiperspirant every morning. Keeps them from sweating and reduces blister-potential.

A swipe of stick antiperspirant under the girls and on inner thighs, then baby powder. Never have an issue with chafing. I've also been known to run a swipe of antiperspirant down the middle of my back.

Frozen washcloths- I wet and freeze washcloths overnight, then take them in ziplocks in an insulated sandwich pouch into the parks. They stay pretty frozen, at least until 3pm in June, and feel SO GOOD on my neck, forehead, and arms in the middle of the day!

Towels- I bring my own bath towel to Disney- a REAL towel, that actually goes around me! It makes me feel better having a towel that FITS!

Take it slowly- WDW isn't a race, and there isn't any sense in rush, rush, rush. Drink lots, walk through air conditioned shops instead of the middle of Main St, and hit the a/c shows in the middle of the afternoon.

I have to echo these tips! I was just there for Food and Wine and it was so sunny and hot - I was so glad I had taken a wash cloth and some ziplocs and ice from the resort. When I took it out - it felt like heaven!

I have be on Alliegent before I never had a problem with the seats. I am 3x I asked for an extender but other that that, no problems. Hope this helps

I am 5 foot 10 inches and my weight is 269#. I fit into every ride at MK & Epcot~the only two parks we went to. We swam on Saturday and went to DTD that evening, did I mention we drove all night to arrive on Sat because we have a 13 hour drive. We went to MK on Sunday we opened the park at 9 and closed it at 11. On Monday we hung out at the pool and went to Hoop Dee Doo Review. On Tuesday we went to MNSSHP at 4 and left at 12. On Wednesday we we hung out by the pool and went to DVC Welcome Home Wednesday along w/ dinner at Artist Pointe. On Thursday we we went to Epcot we opened the park at 9 and closed it at 9. On Friday we had breakfast at Kona and began the treck home. I was tired but I came home w/ no blister, no skin break downs, no heat stroke, and so on... I didn't do anything special. I wore Lands End mesh treckers, Lands End treckers, or Nike slides. I wore whatever shorts I had in my dresser that varied in length ranging between finger length to Bermudas along w/ a jean skort. I wore tee shirts and tops. I think the tops were primarily Wal-mart's Just My Size. I wore swim suits that were a few years old from One Stop Plus (online). My undies were Just My Size and my bras were Bali. My socks were Hanes. I wore Secret Deodorant- Sports/ Water Proof. I wore Coppertone sunscreen. I wore my forever old visor until I bought a pink mickey visor. I wore my $5 sunglasses from Wal-mart because typically I don't wear sun glasses unless I'm sitting at the soccer field. I may be very Pooh size but I'm lucky enough not to have all the skin break down. I work w/ people in nursing, personal care, psychiatric hospitals, and so on and the same recommendation is to use Aquaphore that can be purchased at a pharmace/ Wal-mart. I had a tube but never opened it. I did use Blistex on my lips. Good luck all of you Pooh size gals. Hopefully, you all will have my great luck!

No matter if you are Pooh sized or not blistex or other lip protection is a good idea, I have an inexpensive chapstick with aloe, it prevents sunburn on my lips. With my sensitive skin, I do get sunburned lips occasionally while watching my son play soccer.

Just thought I would add that tip, can not remember if it was added already.:confused3

Just got back from the World and wanted to reassure my fellow pooh sized people that Disney is definitely Pooh friendly- I got on every ride with no problems at all whatsoever.. and did not need a seatbelt extender on Jet Blue either! :cool1:Yay! I am 5'5" and weighed 245 when we left for Disney (I lost 5 lbs+ just with all the walking- and this is with a dining plan! )

I am having a HUGE problem finding the right bag to take. I have been going with a back pack because it's just been easier to find that would fit. All of the messenger style cross body bags have been toooo small. Not enough strap. I'm a size 24 and substantial up top. Ant suggestions on what you all have found?

I'm a BIG girl (28/30)and I found an across the body purse at Target (in fact a few different designs) that was plenty long enough and only about $20, was perfect not too big, held what I needed (wallet, camera, chapstick, keys etc)
I skip the shorts and go with capris, swin suits the last 2 years I have done well at fashion Bug and I swear by my Keen sandals have owned a couple pairs over the last 4 yrs, they dont wear out I just get bored with the color and my feet feel great at the end of the day!
