The Everything and Nothing Thread

Hi Faith!! Glad you're getting nice weather. Sorry about the allergies tho. :sad2: It's still pretty cool here. We have or 2 nice days as a tease then it gets cold again. At least it hasn't snowed in weeks. So I guess that's one good thing.

How great that the whole family is going with you on vacation this year. The kids will have so much fun! I can't wait to have grands to do Disney with some day. :goodvibes But that is years down the road for me.

We are doing a split stay in Sept. First 5 nights YC club level then 2 nights RPC at the Grand. I upgraded to the Deluxe King room. DH thinks we are staying Sugar Loaf. I requested a whirlpool room. DH loves whirlpool tubs but we don't have room for one at home without a MAJOR remodel & 2nd floor addition. (Not happening!) So I wanted to surprize him with it. So those 2 days we'll spend lots of time enjoying the resort with limited park time. I figured since Disney's trying to decrease discounts, I'd take full advantage of the 40% off while I could. :cool1:

Sandee, that is great news. We really enjoyed our RPC stay at the Grand. We've done YC before too but it's not as nice as RPC. The resort is so pretty and it's nice to sit up there and watch the people in the lobby and also listen to the live music.

We stayed Club level at the Ritz in Maui. We never wanted to leave the club room. Not only did it include all of the alcohol w/bartender 24-7, the food was amazing. Breakfast had beignets, French toast, waffles. Every night they had a chef there at a meat carving station. If you were going for scenic driving, they put together a picnic basket for you to take. The staff was so amazing; they knew and remembered our names after our first meet. Every morning, I'd get there and they'd bring me a pot of tea, remembering the type of tea I drank.

I gained 8 pounds.

Hello everyone! So good to "see" you again!

I wish spring would show up around here. After a warmer/drier than usual winter we're having a cooler/wetter early spring.

Everyone's trips sound great! We'll be swinging by Disneyland in September, after a visit to my husband's mom in Santa Barbara. Can't wait!

We've spent the past couple weekends doing beach house repairs, after the usual winter storms there. Good thing my husband is good at that sort of thing.

Joan

Hi Joan!!!

Lucky you. It took my husband 9 years to replace this small section of baseboard that he had damaged. I deserve a medal for not mentioning it more than once every other year. :rotfl:

And I'm jealous about the beach house too. Ours summers are so dreadful here that it would so nice to have a place to escape. I'm enjoying our 4 weeks of spring before it gets hot enough to be miserable.

Hi everyone!

So nice to see everyone again!!

I have been busy, busy, busy. I'm in the middle of finals right now, then starting my full time summer job in two weeks. I am taking two classes over the summer (psychopharmacology and forensic psychology) as well as prepping for my GRE, working in a research lab on weekends and trying to find time to eat, sleep and breathe.

It's finally starting to warm up a little here and a few flowers are blooming! This is really my favourite time of year, I love the spring.:lovestruc I've been doing as much studying as I can outdoors and am loving the sunshine.

Hope you are all well and it is so great to hear updates about your lives! I'm glad this thread isn't lost!:goodvibes

Hey all!

Anyone else wonder why, if it isn't going to full sized, they are bothering with the Beast's castle in WDW? I mean, what's it gonna do???

Faith, you are a saint! I can relate to this, though. A hole in the roof with rain coming in has a sense of urgency that our other home repairs seem to lack.

Meg, it tires me out just reading about all that you're up to! You're amazing!

Sandee, so glad you bumped the thread!

Dax, hope your WDW visit was wonderful!

Hello FredinFL! Nice to meet you! The Beast's Castle kinda reminds of Storybookland at Disneyland, but that attraction's whole point is to be miniaturized. It looks pretty, though.

Hi Joan!!! Glad to hear you'll get to Disneyland this year. DH is ready to go back there & originally I was going to plan for there this year. Then I decided since it's such a big trip fro us, I'd wait one more year. Give a chance for a little more revamping to get done. So maybe 2012.

Faith, enjoy your spring. We're still waiting.

Yeah, Meg's here! :) Glad to see you! I don't know where you get your energy from. Oh wait, yes I do. You're young. :rotfl: I was hoping to come to Toronto this summer & see a Blue Jays / Red Sox game ( DH is a HUGE Red Sox fan) . But unfortunately, none of the games work for us.

Hi Fred! I'm not even sure what is going in the Beast's castle. I haven't been keeping up with all the renovation plans. Some Disney fanatic I am, huh? :rotfl2:

I haven't been keeping up with the new Fantasyland plans at all! Actually, I had completely forgotten about the renovations. I'll have to pop over to the Theme Parks board and see what's going on.

Sandee, I'll be in your neighbourhood next weekend! My best friend is getting married this summer and wants to go dress shopping in Buffalo. I'm currently trying to convince her to abandon her pre-wedding diet and hit up The Cheesecake Factory.

Now... back to studying. It is currently 11:40 on a Saturday night downtown Toronto and I am currently holed up in my room with textbooks and lecture slides. I've just got to make it to Tuesday evening and I'll be done and completely free for two weeks! I already have a stack of books waiting on my bedside table that I can't wait to dig into, but at this point I am thinking a miniature spring hibernation of sleeping 24/7 might win out.:rotfl:

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Happy Sunday everyone :thumbsup2

So I had my "Disney Day" as I like to call it on Friday. The weather was perfect, in the mid 80's and the humidity was not to bad! Hit up EPCOT, AK and MK. We got to MK just as the 9pm parade was hitting, and got to hang out with Mickey and Minnie at their new home for about 10-15min..ALONE! It was GREAT. We had some great character interactions, and Minnie embarressed my DH..

Speaking of DH, he is doing better...he still needs to get back to the Dr though. While the headaches are controlled, the low testosterone is becoming an issue, and treating it will be rough because of the liver issues he has...So I dont know what going to happen next with that..

I hope everyone is having a good day..I am back at work...starting my new work week...UGH!

Dax your Disney day sounds perfect. We are having amazing weather here too.

Hi Evs/Nos,
First, Sandee, thanks for bringing the thread back to life. You saved me from being a thread-killer! :)

Everyone's plans sounds great. Right now I don’t know what I’m doing for the summer. I would like to bring DD and her best friend to Disney – and also go over to Universal to experience Harry Potter, since the two girls are so into the books. Also, I’ll like to get my DH and DS to join us in Disney – tentatively trying to schedule something for Thanksgiving week. A DISer that I met on another thread is going that week and it would be so much fun to meet up with them.

Dax: That’s wonderful news about the health insurance. I’ve been fortunate to have always had it. Hope you DH can continue to get better. Flower and Garden sounds awesome! I’m envious that you can just go at a drop of a hat for a day.

Pakey: Your October plans sound amazing – I have never stayed at either AK or BC. And I think the kids will love the pool at BC and will be blown away by both resorts. BTW, I suffer from allergies year round but the outdoor ones worsen as soon as Spring hits – so I feel your pain. Speaking of scrapbooking, have you ever done it on-line?? I think that is the way for me, but was wondering if you have put together a book that way, and could recommend a site. Right now I have looked at Shutterfly.

Dizno: Hi! Glad everyone is coming back. Nice that your DH can do all the repairs at the beach. We try to do our own fix-ups, painting, etc., but we just don’t have the time. My DH drives 50 miles each way to work, so basically anything we do has to be on the weekends, and sometimes all we want to do is veg out.

Meg: Wow, you are always busy! Hope everything went well with finals. By now you must be holed up with a book and getting ready to start your summer job. And I hope you win out and go to the Cheesecake factory while in Buffalo! Life is short, eat up!!

Well, just returned from trip to Savannah with my Mom and sister. We had an amazing time -- had beautiful weather, great food (and trust me, this place has great food!). We ate, drank (well, that was me & Eileen, see below), walked, bought, sampled, attended a show at the playhouse, and toured houses/museums. Being the good girl scout I am, this also included a visit to the Juliette Low House. While waiting in line for lunch (at the famous Mrs. Wilkes House), we met Eileen, who was traveling solo. As we all got along so well, we invited her to join us on our travels, which she did over the next 3 days. Turns out, she has 2 girls, ages 11, 12 (my DD is 12) and she lives in Conn. Who would have thought?? So now we have plans to meet in NYC after school is out.

So, since this is Wednesday and I believe Picture day – here we are. that's me on the left side of each pic, the first one is taken in one of the picturesque squares that Savannah is famous for, and the second one is of Eileen and I, eating at Mrs. Wilkes' house. The meals are served family style which means we can eat until we drop!! In the pix on the right, I'm holding the dish with collard greens, and even though I'm not a fan of greens at all, I had to try them while in Savannah (they were okay). I loved the fried chicken and pulled pork!! And, we were "told" that we all had to clean up after ourselves and bring our dishes to the kitchen!! It was a riot!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Thanks again Sandee for bumping the thread up - let's try and keep it fresh!!

Hey Evs!! How was eveyone's Easter? Mine was quiet, just like I wanted it to be. Seems DH & I like to have simpler & quieter holidays now. I have a large extended family: parents , sisters, BILs, lots of nieces & nephews & their kids. They all still do holiday get togethers, but we're kind of done with those huge affairs. We prefer just staying home together or with just our kids. My DH has always worked 50 plus hour weeks, so if we get an extra day to relax together, we'll take it. :goodvibes

Meg, did you end up going shopping in Buffalo with your friend? I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. There is a great Bridal Salon near me I would have recommended. Did you go to the Cheesecake Factory? I love it there but we try to avoid the weekends; it's crazy on Saturdays.

Hope none of you are dealing with flooding or the tornados from last week. while I'm not happy about all the rain we're having, at least there's no flooding or destruction. Although the farmers do need to start planting & they can't til the rain stops. Looks like Thursday things should improve.

Have a great week!!:goodvibes

Hi All!

Easter was uneventful. We went out to dinner with my best friend and her husband. Food and company were both great.

Weather has turned warm here; today was my first morning to drive to work topless. I've went home with it down many times but this is the first morning warm enough.

Our slow season at work is about to end. This Saturday we will hire over 1000 people and that's the official kickoff to our season. So I'm trying to enjoy this week knowing that the next 9 months will not be as relaxing.

Janet, I have not done digital scrapbooking but that's my motivation to finish all of my paper ones because I'm going to switch over. I just hate dragging out all of the mess. I have a scrapbooking room but I usually drag the stuff out into the great room and then leave it laying around. I will probably use photoshop since I already have that software.

:scared1: Put something on!!! You're an Old Fogie!! Nobody wants to see that!!!

:lmao:

At the very least, you deserve a new tag for that! I'll take one of your old ones. But not the Lobster one; I don't like them, either. ;)

Faith: Since I never got into the paper scrapbooking (but I have plenty of supplies:)), I’m going digital. A friend of mine sells creative memories so she is going to show me their software. Of course, now ALL I’ve got to do is scan my old photos and organize my digital ones and I’m good to go!!

Hi Janet! My Mother's Day was nice: DD & I went to a movie then we grilled for dinner. DH sent me beautiful flowers & gave me a gift certificate for a get away night. A local place that has very nice jacuzzi suites with a 4 star restaurant for dinner & a hot breakfast included. Very sweet of him!!

DD & DSIL gave me a gift card to a local spa & DS gave me a restaurant gift card. So I feel very pampered!! :goodvibes

The only draw back was I had no time to Dis!!! :rotfl:

How was your day? Hope it was nice, too.

Happy Monday all and I hope everyone had a great Mothers Day. Mine was just fine. The weather was gorgeous and we went to my brother's so I didn't have to do anything (makes it a perfect day for me).

Janet, let me know what you think of the Creative Memories software. I already own Photoshop so I think I'm going to take some online courses and learn how to scrapbook within that software. I have looked at Creative Memories though; I know it's easier than Photoshop, so I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it.

My husband has informed me that I cannot get rid of any of my paper scrapbooking stuff though; too much invested. I guess it will all sit in the storage area collecting dust.
