The Everything and Nothing Thread

I"m so ready to go home! I've finished all of my filing and I have nothing to do the rest of the day...but can't go home yet! The boss did buy lunch for everyone though!

Darcy- only a few more hours to go! You can make it!

Joan- nooooo don't go do anything productive. Stay and chat!:cool1:

I'm home for the day now... and somebody NEEDS to keep me away from jcrew.com!!! I don't know where all my willpower has gone but there are so many pretty things...

Tuition! I need to remember tuition comes first, then clothes.

Autumn, let's just say that today productive isn't exactly my middle name.

I've always loved J Crew, but hang tough! Tuition, tuition, tuition! (sounds like the song from Fiddler on the Roof!)

My daughter April called last night to say she has to replace her radiator. She'd much rather go to American Eagle. Or IKEA.

Ummm, luuunnnch. Whad'ya have?

We went to Cotton Patch. I had salmon with steamed veggies. Yum!

Thanks for the encouragment Autumn! Its a good thing I have the Dis to occupy me! It sounds like I need to stay away from jcrew.com though! Stay strong girl!

Autumn- girls can be very nasty in middle/high school. My poor niece started that experience last year and it has been quite an interesting time for my sister. It makes it even harder that some of these girls are much more *advanced* at their age than they should be. Makes me glad my DD is only 3 for now.

DisneyDiva- At least you got lunch- hope it was something good. :thumbsup2

LA & Janet- Glad to see a couple more HP fans out there! I can't wait for the last 2 movies to come out! I agree that they can't compare with the books. :thumbsup2

Diznotyzed- Thanks for the heads up that POTC is in the work! My DH will be thrilled! He's such a fan!

Shelly- Very cute that you are having a doggy bday party complete with presents! :lmao:

Happy Hump Day, everyone - okay, I hear you giggling out there!

Love this! Of course it is, with all the drooling over Edward, Jacob and Tim Tebow in tighty whities!

I have very little claim to celebrity fame. I once had brunch in the same room as Henny Youngman. Take my bagel, please! Pa dum dum! I also literally ran into Wilt Chamberlin in a mall- I was about eye level to his belly button. This now concludes my tour of unknown celebrities of the past.

I would like to second this! The nurses who cared for my youngest when she had surgeries at the age of 11 and again at 16 were amazing. Thank you for what you do.

Pakey - I first flashed on Olive Oyl from Popeye when you mentioned the posters in your office! Now that would be some unusual decorating!

JoBird - Love the story about Wags yelling over Tim Tebow! I'd love to see what happens when she actually sees one of those commercials! The Peggy story is also a hoot!

I wasn't a cheerleader, but was on the dance team. Nowadays it hurts to even think about doing the splits. I was going to tell our current ballerina Autumn not to make any wisecracks, but I'm thinking twice about mentioning wisecracks and splits in the same sentence. Pa dum dum.

And since we're talking movies - I just heard Pirates of the Carribbean 4 is in pre-production!

I'm so glad I'm not the only oldster in this group! Too funny!

Momof2 - How sweet that your kids are giving your dog presents! Hope he doesn't give you any presents back! (one of my 15 year old cats just left me a lovely hairball on the couch)

LA - May I call you Angelina from now on? ;)

I should probably go do something productive, but really, why start now?
Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone!

Joan

Yes, sadly I know who Henny Youngman and Wilt Chamberlain are. Henny I'm not really familiar with, but I do know that he was a comedian. I think there are a couple more of us 50+ girls out there, too. (notice I didn't say "oldsters" LOL) And we're still young compared to, say, Betty White. ;) I hope I've got that much spunk at her age!

I googled Henny Youngman and still don't know who he was :rolleyes1 .
That's okay - most of the people my age don't know who he was! If you ever hear the phrase "Take my wife, please" it was his best known joke.

Oh, and Jane, you're right, I shouldn't have said oldster! I certainly don't feel that way! How about "experience enhanced"?

Diznotyzed- yes, how do all these practical things keep getting in the way of shopping sprees? Sorry to hear your daughter has to replace her rad! I would rather go to IKEA too! Every time I need a little wake up call I just log into my student account on the financial aid website... I get that shopping cart emptied quickly!

Although... they have such a good sale on... and my birthday is coming up soon! (September is soon, right???)

I'm a HP fan too, though more the books than the movies. But I'm still really looking forward to the next movie coming out in November, the trailer looks great!:thumbsup2

Uh oh... until tomorrow there is an extra 30% off all J. Crew sale items with the code extra30...

WHY DID I READ THAT?!:eek::scared1:

I’m soooo ready to go home …

The most famous person I've met is Scott Hamilton at …. Disney! I heard his voice and I turned around and blurted out “you’re Scott Hamilton!” and he said “I know I am!” I always loved watching figure skating and seeing him perform at the Olympics.

Jo: Just for you I googled Tim Tebow (having no idea who he was 'cept that he must be connected to the gators). Have to admit he is almost as good to look at as Edward & Jacob. Your Mom is a woot!

Momof2: Happy B-day to your doggie!

POTC - so glad to hear there is a number 4! But, I remember Johnny mentioning after 3 was completed that he would like to do one more ... so not surprised. When we went to the P&P Party in 2007, my DD saw the parade, and was so excited and said "Mom I think that's real Jack!" We waited in line to to meet and greet and get our photo taken with him - the imposter Jack was terrific - just like Johnny with his mannerisms.

Dizno: Don't go and do anything productive! I certainly been having a hard time doing much myself.

LA: I like Dizno's idea ... your code name is .. Angelina:thumbsup2

Thanks Autumn! :rotfl: I just went to the jcrew website...and I get paid tomorrow...my birthday is the end of August....would it be to soon to buy myself a present? JK....there is some really cute stuff though!

Hey, your birthday is before mine and I'm considering it!:lmao:

Oh I love this! :thumbsup2 Since it seems like this thread has a lot of 20somethings & 50 somethings, we might have to change the name to: "the experience challenged & enhanced" thread! ;)

Mom of 2: Happy Birthday to your dear puppy! It's great he is 14 & only starting to show his age. We miss having a dog most days. But not ready to get another one right now. We loved our dog, but they are a lot of responsibility, & ours was always at the Vet, cost us a fortune.

Autumn, hang in there. You can resist! I can pretend to be Suzy Orman for you: DENIED! You can't afford it. :)

And yes, I know who Henny Youngman is. Without Google.

Wow, here a girl works all morning and finds you guys have been chatting away about tightie whities and shopping, two of my favorite subjects.

My food posters are yummy but not as yummy as where I work. I'm at a large food manufacturing company. We pack about 2000 different items and every day you can smell the stuff cooking. My favorites are the barbeque sauces. And if that's not enough, the R&D dept is always doing something and having us sample. My pantry at home is loaded with product. Working here guarantees you will gain 20 pounds your first year.

Mom/2: Happy Birthday to your doggie. I hope mine live to be old. I had wanted dogs for years and my husband didn't but when I got cancer, he caved and let me get 2. I can't believe how much those dogs mean to me. My sons tease me about how I've become so attached.

I'm off to google Tebow. I have no idea who that is.

Focus, thank you, that helps a lot.:rotfl: I needed some tough Orman love.:rotfl2:

Pakey, I will eat just about ANYTHING if you put bbq sauce on it... mmmm...

Ha Ha! Experienced Enhanced and Experience Challenged. Love it! :thumbsup2

I sure feel bad for anyone who hasn't been here all day and then sees what they've got to catch up on!
