The Everything and Nothing Thread

Ooooh, Pakey, where were you in China? When I was in high school I got to go to Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Xi'an and it was amazing. I think Shanghai was my favourite, we did a harbour cruise at night and it was just incredible. I would LOVE to go to Egypt.:lovestruc Where in Egypt are you guys going?

Jo, I think I might need to learn to do that.:rotfl:

Hi laracroft!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Pakey- I've never been out of the country! We do a lot of traveling around the US, though. How'd you get to go to China without him? Did you go alone? We just got back from NOLA. Dh had a convention, so he was gone all day. I had a great time doing what I wanted to do all day! It was fun to be selfish!
AutumnPalm- Way too hot for outside dining here! We had a heat advisory today. It's not too bad now that the sun is going down.
JoBird- DD used to mix up words all of the time, so instead of nailpolish she said paintnolish. She used to Terror of Tower, too. She said it so much I'd find myself saying it!

Here is something for you to all ponder...

Why is there a lot of single shoes scattered along the highway? Who loses a shoe?

I like the pairs of sneakers hanging from utility lines. I know when I'm done with mine, I always think of throwing them on a phone line. :confused3

Here's what I have been pondering lately: I keep seeing these purple box like things hanging in trees. They are always purple, look like cardboard, 3 sided & about 18-24 inches long. I've noticed string hanging from them sometimes. The first time I saw one, I thought some kid lost their kite. But I keep seeing them in all different areas. My sis lives an hour away from me, out in the woods. Saw one on the way to her house a few weeks ago. DH & I went on a day trip & I saw one in a tree about 100 miles from home. Noticed some holes in the sides of that one. Don't know if the others have holes; I'm usually driving when I see them so of course don't get a good look.

Anyone know what these are? I'm starting to get a little paranoid about them. Are we being invaded? Little purple invaders? :scared1: :rotfl2:

Do you live in a forested area? Around here those are insect traps, to be on the look-out for gypsy moths.

Any one have any fun plans for the weekend? We're going to our beach house. :beach:

Add me to the list wondering what a roustabout is. :rotfl:

I wonder how the lost and found at school can have missing items, coats, lunch boxes, etc. after the first week of school??? I mean doesn't anyone MISS these items???

I too don't know what roustabout is ... will be waiting an answer.

Just want to add .. this thread is fun ... I'm a little sorry that I have to be away for a few days ... going out of town and will check back on Monday.

Everyone have a safe weekend!

I often wonder that too! I know when my kids are missing a glove, how can parents not be missing a coat??? :confused3

Glad you are enjoying the thread. Have a great weekend and we will chat when you get back! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I am kinda new to the boards but a long time lurker. I am so glad there is a place to talk jibber jabber!

Welcome! We look forward to chatting with you. :hyper2:

I don't think I have seen anything like that around here. . . :confused3 I hope we're not being invaded! :rotfl:

OK, that makes sense. Thanks. We're not in a forested area, but I do always see them in clumps of trees. So who puts them in the trees? Towns? Homeowners?

Have a great weekend at the beach! :beach:

edit to add: I think little purple invaders sounds more interesting than gypsy moths, tho!!!

Hi, paintnolish! I live in Louisiana (despite my screen name, another long story!) My DD is living there now. So what did you do in NOLA? Have any good meals? I hope the heat and humidity weren't too overwhelming! :faint:

I think a roustabout is a laborer who travels from place to place doing jobs. Wasn't there an Elvis Presley movie called "Roustabout"? I'm not a big Elvis fan, but I think that was the title of one of his movies.

Hi Diznotyzed :wave2: Sounds nice! Is your beach house right on the ocean? I've heard it's really beautiful in Oregon.

We'll probably go to our camp, like we do most weekends. It's on a lake about an hour north of where we live. My DSis and I bought it after selling our parents' home in 2004, the year after we lost both of them. So our 2 families spend alot of time up there, fishing, boating, and just chilling! She and I tried to get in the habit of saying "lake house", because it sounds nicer than "camp". But I think camp is a term all Southerners use for any home-away-from-home, so we gave up trying to call it anything else!

Hi to everyone else!

Hi Jane-in-PA-but-really-LA!
Your camp sounds fun! I love anywhere on the water. I also love the regional differences in how we all refer to things.
My dad built our beach house 44 years ago, and three generations of us have loved going there together. This weekend it'll just be my husband and me. It is oceanfront, but set back a ways to be safe from winter storms. We think it's a beautiful stretch of beach, and we use it almost year round, though it's pretty chilly for a lot of the year. A great place to escape when it gets hot inland, though. We feel very lucky to have it.

Momof2Disneyboys - Thanks! The weather should be fabulous this weekend, and since it'll just be the two of us it should be very relaxing!

focusondisney - I think little purple invaders are more fun to think about than real bugs, too! One of the governmental agencies sets the traps around here (dept of Agriculture or Forestry dept? Not really sure)

Joan

Happy Thursday everyone...1 more day to the weekend!!:cool1:

Got a really bad night sleep last night...seems to be a trend..

Did anyone happen to watch Toddlers and Tiara's last night? I fell asleep in the last 10 min...and didnt see who won..LOL

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Good morning everyone! Today is my Friday so I am happy. Right now I am working 4, 10 hour days and it's a little rough, but having a 3 day weekend every weekend is fantastic!!!:surfweb:

Autumn, thanks for the welcome!:)

Dizno- hope you have a great time at your beach house. Sounds wonderful!:cutie:

Motherof2disneyboys, I have to tell you, it was your pics and reviews of the pirate rooms at CBR that made my mind up on our last trip in March. We loved it! SO thanks! :thumbsup2pirate:

Jane - Hello!!!!

If I missed ya, please forgive, I won't next time!!!

Good Morning Everyone:goodvibes
I am off to the mall with DD19 and my mom this morning. I should be back this afternoon.
What does everyone else have planned for their day?

Hi Lala, I wish I was going to the mall with ya! I am working and thats all today. Hope you have a good time and get yourself a little something!

Thanks! I am on the hunt for some clothes...we will see how that turns out!

Good morning everyone! :goodvibes

Jane - What were you doing up so late last night??? :scared1: Yes, I think you should go with "lake house" instead of camp! ::yes::

Dizno - your beach house sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

Dax - I didn't sleep too well last night either. :confused3 I hope it's not a sign of things to come. I seem to get in a pattern of not sleeping well and it will go on for weeks. :scared:

Lara - Thanks! :goodvibes I'm glad you enjoyed my CBR review and then had a great time there.

Hi Lauren! Have fun shopping!

Morning E&N thread!:goodvibes
Looks like you guys are bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning even with the lack of sleep.

I want a camp/lake/beach house to go to. I'd call it all of the above.

Today I have my bathing suit on --- guess I'm going to head to the pool. Hope it isn't too too hot but I'm sure it will be.

Egypt sounds so much fun Pakey! Did you watch Chasing Mummies on the history channel last night? I thought about this thread and your trip when I saw it. It was entertaining.

Okay ------------ who's watching Big Brother other than me and Shelly??????????????????:)
Doesn't that Hayden guy look like that guy from Grease- Jeff Conway???:lmao:

First, let me say, I am so jealous! It was my first trip and I LOVED it! The heat wasn't too bad...we've been to WDW in the summer! I walked all over the French Quarter all day, just doing whatever I wanted to! I ate. A LOT! Too much good food: Johnny's, Deanie's, Acme, Pat O'Briens, Court of the Two Sisters, Cafe Du monde, Eat, Stanley, La Divina, Kupcake Factory (not really a restaurant, LOL), etc!

Morning, everyone!

To all those heading to camps and beach houses- have fun!:goodvibes

Lala, good luck at the mall and have fun with your DD! I love mother daughter shopping days.:thumbsup2

I have the day off- I will probably do a little packing for the girls weekend I have coming up, take a bath, do some reading... kind of a lazy day! But I'm not complaining.:cloud9:
