The ever popular "will Mission Space make me sick?" question....

Got a fast pass for mission space and I am planning on the orange mission. Admittedly, I am a little nervous due to the reputation it has. I have never gotten sick on any ride ever. Not a roller coaster, not a simulator, nothing. But for whatever reason, I am nervous about this one. Should I be? I have watched videos of it online and it reminded me a LITTLE of Seaworld's wild arctic ride. Opinions?

My wife and I needed about an hour of calculated, slow breathing and plenty of water after riding Orange. We ride every ride at Six Flags and Universal, and are no stranger to thrill rides, but we generally avoid rides that just go in a circle. Orange basically goes in a circle very very quickly.

Will not do again.

I've never gotten sick on any ride. Can ride any coaster they make. The bigger and faster the better.

I didn't throw up, but Mission Space definitely didn't make me feel good. It was worse than any ride I've ever done. But you won't know until you ride it

Based on your statement, I'd say there is a high percentage you are fine. You should definitely try it then. I will say this, I am similar to you with your history and I did feel a bit nauseous on it. But I'm attributing that to not eating or drinking anything for a long time prior to going on.

If you have been on a gravitron at a carnival (where the floor drops away) take that and up the intensity - a lot. Those didn't bother me however Orange gives me a bad headache but I don't get nauseous on it. If you can schedule it to the end of your day I would recommend that the first time. That way it won't spoil your day if you have a bad reaction. (Wild arctic is more like Star Tours - this thing pulls G forces and a lot of them)

To me it's intense in a good way. The G force is created by spinning as in a centrifuge but I never detected the actual spin, just the feeling of extra gravity that' intended. You mileage may vary.

I love all kinds of intense roller coasters simulators, and other various rides. When I was younger (and before having children), nothing bothered me at all. Now I am still good when it comes to roller coasters and simulators, but for some reason even looking at spinning (like the tea cups) makes me feel a little queasy. I personally do not go on the orange side anymore. My husband hates roller coasters and heights, but has no problems on the orange side of Mission: Space. It is easy to psych yourself out when worrying about if a ride may make you sick. Especially if it is one that has such a reputation. My opinion would be that if you have never felt a nauseous feeling on a ride, you will probably be fine.

I had the same past history as you, with having no problems with motion sickness previously on any ride. The gravitron was always my favorite ride growing up. My first time on Mission Space I was completely fine. Riding it 7 times in a row with little to no line did make me feel queasy and a bit off kilter and I had to take a break. DS, on the other hand went on it twice more while I regained my bearings :rolleyes2

Now, ToT is a whole other story. That ride is the devil and sent me into a shaking, tearful anxiety attack. I couldn't exit the ride unassisted and I was out of sorts for a good 2 hours after riding it. Never again.

I was very nervous when I rode Orange for the first time. I have had problems with ride simulators in the past (I'm looking at YOU Body Wars) so I was extra nervous. I have ridden it many times since. I will sometimes get a slight headache and sometimes feel a bit (as the PP just said) "off-kilter". It's not really *bad* but it's not really *good* either. I have started to wait for my family rather than ride it. I tried Green the last time and thought it was super boring. I would rather play the astronaut game at the exit than waste time on Green again.

It doesn't bother me, but I'm a little crazy when it comes to thrillseeking. The one thing that is really important, focus on the screens. Don't close your eyes. Seriously. Motion sickness comes from a disconnect between what the eyes see and the ears feel, cutting one of them off won't do you any good. The screen will match the simulator movement, your best bet is to keep them in as close agreement as possible.

After riding Mission Space Orange, I felt queasy and off for about 90 minutes.
First time I've ever felt motion sickness getting off an attraction. Never had it on any other flight simulator, rollercoaster, or other ride.

Thought that the concept and execution were great. Not particularly interested in riding it again.

My husband, son, and sister-in-law rode Mission Space Orange a few times in a row with no problems.

My daughter and I spent the next four hours working very hard not to throw up. Had to go get in some very cold air conditioning and practice some deep breathing. I will never go back on the orange side. I don’t like anything that spins me around, but my daughter loves the other spinning rides.

I appreciate all of the responses and to be honest, I think I am more nervous, LOL. Our FP is for around 11am and I am not sure I want to even take the chance of being possibly queasy and then spending the rest of my day at EPCOT fighting that

I didn't throw up, but Mission Space definitely didn't make me feel good.

This is pretty much my experience too. I felt kind of "off" for a couple of hours after riding but not actual sickness. Still, what's the point of a ride that might make you feel crummy? Subtracting the concern over nausea it still wasn't a great experience. Try the green version or just give it a pass.

You won’t get sick on the ride.

You will on the other hand be dizzy when you get off and might need to catch your breathe

I didn't know what to expect on Orange side. After exiting, I broke out into a cold sweat and had to lay on the floor in the gift shop in the AC for a while to compose myself. I'll never ride again, not even Green side. I don't trust it. FWIW, I do coasters just fine but clearly spinning crap is not my jam!

Believe me, as much as I disliked the feeling from the orange one and will never do it again, riding the green was a joke in comparison in terms of excitement lol

Almost made me wanna do orange again. Almost
