The Empty Nesters Magical Mystery Tour *1/28* Link to New Girl's TR p141

I'm sorry I didn't get around to replies today, but I do have some great news!

I booked the BWV for the Princess Half Marathon 2/21-2/24!!!!!! SO EXCITED IT WAS AVAILABLE!!!!!

That is all....

Awesome.....

Even though I am very happy for him, I have very mixed feelings about it. *sigh*
Mixed feelings... like something about how you just started a new job and he's leaving his??? :lmao:

I am considering running it myself, although the last time I ran a 1/2 marathon I swore I would never run another.
I know what you mean. I've never ran a 1/2 marathon, but I once ran a mile and swore I'll never run one. :rotfl2:

I decided that since I have SO many Nemo pictures it really wasn’t necessary to take a million more.

So I took about half the normal amount. I present to you the best of the “half the normal amount” of pictures I took.
:lmao::rotfl2:

Remember the days when it used to take forever to get through this line?
:confused3 Not really. :rotfl2: We went just a couple of months after the park opened and I don't even remember waiting a long time on that trip.

I hate saying goodbye to a park for the last time during a trip. It’s sad. It’s a reality that says - this trip is coming to a close.
I know what you mean. I hate that feeling. You always want to linger and do 1 or 2 more things before you finally step out of the park that last time.

Fantastic update MEK and great pics...especially FOTLK! I hate taking pics there because I always take a gazillion pics and then have trouble deciding which ones to post. I know everyone has already seen the same thing but there are so much good pics to take that I don't want to slight the other pics by leaving them out! :lmao:

Congrats on the BWV ressie and the PHM! I don't know what it is about you runners but I can't seem to get into it. I guess if I tried it might help, right? Does running to get something to eat or running to the bathroom during commercials count? :sad2:

So I started to do replies and I lost the first reply and now I am too frustrated to continued. Tomorrow I have to go to the State Fair. Don't be too jealous. I will eventually get around to replies!!!!!

I love taking pictures in the AK. Can you believe that Cynthia and I never set foot in there during our May trip. At the time it seemed like a good decision, but since I won't be back for awhile I feel like I really miss it now.

I totally know the feeling. Having read a run of AK updates today as I'm catching up on TRs, I am really missing it since we didn't visit in May! It's still going to be SO long before we are back, and that makes me sad!

On the plus side, your amazing FotLK photos made me feel like I am there watching it. Hands down, my favorite stage show in all of WDW! The talent in that show is absolutely incredible. As I was scrolling through, I thought, "That's definitely my favorite part...No wait, that is! Oh but I love that part too!" It's so stunning.

I hate saying goodbye to a park for the last time during a trip. It’s sad. It’s a reality that says - this trip is coming to a close.

A million times YES! :worship: I am exactly the same! I think that's why I will always put MK last whenever I can, because I can't imagine saying goodbye to it a moment sooner than I have to.

Wonderful news Mary Ellen!!!

I'm so happy for you all dong the Marathon together. That's going to be so much fun!!

FotLK is so spectacular. I can't wait to see it in its new home.

All right, finally back on the DIS, and I'm all caught up on your trip report. :thumbsup2

:cool1:YAY!!!!! And now maybe I can do a reply and not lose it!!!!:thumbsup2

Congrats on signing up for the Princess Half. I think I already told Danielle this on her update, but I was just shocked at the number of DIS friends and real life friends that are participating in this race. It's the place to be at in February.:rotfl:

I'm pretty excited about the half! Once I realized that I was going to be in Disney the same weekend as the PHM it was pretty much a no brainer. I knew I had to sign up for it even though I still have quite a bit of training ahead of me!

I never did Fish Extenders on my cruise. Just didn't feel like putting in the time or effort. That being said, though, I did talk to a lot of the people in my cruise's thread. I sailed with a great group of people; we all ate a Palo brunch together, and one couple (well, one divorced couple now) are still very good friends with us. They sent Landon a massive baby box full of clothes, and one of them always makes a point to hang out with us when we are in his neck of the woods.
So, while you don't have to go out of your way to do anything cruise related, you can meet some fun people and create a good friendship with them for years to come.

That is so cool! How wonderful to make life long friends like that. It sounds like you had a great group of people on your cruise. The Palo brunch sounds wonderful! What a fun thing to do!

That gorilla picture....:rotfl2:

I know, right? He looks like a little kid you just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. :rotfl2:

The Nemo show looks so good; I loved the way you included some of the movie lines in with your photos. I found myself reading the sentences in the characters' voices.:lmao:

I swear I have seen it so many times I now have it memorized. I posted the pics and realized I had a line for each of them. How convenient! :thumbsup2

Oh wow, I actually DO remember waiting in line for ITTBAB. I visited AK the first year it opened, and that show was a headliner. I wonder if TSMM will ever become like that and lose its crowds? :rotfl: Yeah, probably not...

Remember that line? It used to wrap all the way around the tree and it moved SO slow! :faint: Those days are so gone!

Seeing both shows in AK is something that I've always intended to do, just haven't found the time to actually go through with. I'm glad you were able to, though. It had to be fun to kind of compare/contrast the two shows and how they interpreted each film.

I'm not sure how we managed to see both shows in the same day. I never seem to be able to do that so I was so happy that it worked out so well. Both shows are so great, so sometimes its hard to decide which one to see during a visit.

Great update. I love all the FOTLK pics. I have missed that show several trips now. I must not miss it in October!

Glad you like the pics! It's going to be great to see it in its new surroundings. I tend to see Nemo more than FORLK, so I'm really glad we made the time to see it!

Love the AKL pics too... I really love that resort. I just wish it wasn't quite as far out as it is. Not a bad trek to and from AK though.

It is an odd location, but the fact that it is such a great resort really helps make up for that. I love it there, too! The surroundings are so perfect! But it does stink for running. That's the only drawback that I see.

Congrats on signing up for the PHM!!! :cool1:

Thanks! I'm very excited about it, although I still have quite a bit of training ahead!

Fantastic pics from FOTLK! :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes

Good luck with the half marathon. I've run in two of them, one of them at Disney. And then for kicks, my DH and I ran one of those family fun 5K races that they held a day or two before the half marathon. That was not your typical neighborhood 5K. The Disney fun run was filled with baby strollers and kids and people who had never trained at all. :upsidedow But it was a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Back from our little visit to Caitlin and all caught up :)

Welcome Back! It looks like you guys had a wonderful time! Tons of fun! And I'm glad that everything went well with Dale's interview.

We haven't done the FOTLK in a long time and your amazing pictures have me thinking we must do it next month when we're there! :thumbsup2

Next month already??? :cool1: Woo Hoo! You are So lucky! I saw your AP post! Congrats! You must be thrilled!

Thanks for the update :)

:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, you got some amazing FOTLK pictures! LOVE the fire eaters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! The fire twirlers are my favorite. I find it so fascinating. How does one learn to do that? I mean, come on - that guy's feet were ON fire! YIKES!

It will be interesting to see what happens with ITTBAB. In DL that theater gets used for other things (we saw a preview of Maleficent there). In both cases though, it does seem it's time may be past.

I guess you're right. It's a cute show, but I could definitely see that space being used for something else. The possibilities are endless. Still - ITTBAB is nostalgic for me. It reminds me of when the kids were little.

Ah, AKL. You feel so very very "away". That's magical right there.

It IS such a magical place. I really do love it there and having that savannah view was like icing on the cake. I just think that resort is so different from all the others. The theme (IMHO) gets carried through better there than anywhere else.

She will be a blast! I am excited there is an adult only one

I know! I'm really looking forward to seeing her. It's going to be a ton of fun! :cool1:

I really thought it would be awhile too! It is going to be SO much fun!

Me too! I knew we would be lucky if we met up again in 2 years, so I'm thrilled its going to be in February! Fun! :cool1:

Oh I remember that one, that was horrible! Good know, to I love a good veggie burger.

Yuck - it was awful, but this sandwich was really yummy! I really enjoyed it! ::yes::

I'm here and have a LOT of reading to do! I miss the Dis and have time on my hands right now to get in on it and read away!

Yeah, it might be time to start thinking about putting a new attraction in the Tree of Life theater, much as I hate to say it.

Blasphemy, I tell you! :rotfl2: Nah - I know what you mean. Bug's life had really been waning in popularity. But it is still a cute show. :good vibes

Great pics from both Nemo and FOTLK!!!

Thank you! :)

I looooooooooove ITTBAB, so I hope they don't replace it anytime soon.

It would be sad to see it go. Plus, I expect that it would be rather costly, too! Maybe not! I haven't heard any rumors to that effect, but you never know.

Congrats on signing up for the PHM!!!! I have some friends who are doing it and I'm so excited for them!! I do NOT run. Like, not ever. I briefly considered going with them and walking the 5K, but my pace is borderline and I would be crushed into a million pieces if I went and then got swept out.

I know what you mean. It would be terrible to get swept. I would hate that. I don't think that will happen to me in the 1/2 unless something happens and I absolutely have to stop running. Be that as it may, I still have quite a bit of training to do. I need to really focus on long distances.

I have to ask. What is a fish extender??? It sounds unpleasant!

:rotfl2: It is a funny name, isn't it? OK - here's how I understand it. The door handles on the cruises are shaped like fish. The extender is a homemade type hanger thingy that hangs on the fish (fish-extender....get it? :rotfl2:) handle. It collects gifts that you get from other DISers on the cruise. So you basically have to go around and deliver gifts to everyone on the FE list. But first you have to make or buy the gifts and bring them with you. Too much work for this girl. :faint:

Congrats on doing the Princess 1/2! Awesome!!

Thanks! I have some serious training to do, but I'm going to put the work into it and hopefully finish without serious bodily injury. :rotfl2:

Looks like a nice end of your day at AK! I completely know what you mean about the end-of-trip blues. I try to stay in the moment and enjoy it but it's hard to not think "this is the last" when it's happening.

It's always best if you can just stay in the moment until its time to get on that plane. I usually get in the mental mindset that my trip is X # of days, so I am usually pretty ready to go by the time the trips over. But its just so hard to say goodbye to each individual park.

You got some great FOTLK pics! Nice!

Thanks. I'm pretty pleased with how well they turned out. :thumbsup2

I am really jonesing for Disney today, thanks for taking me there!

I know what you mean. I have days like that all the time - so you're welcome! ::yes::

:cool1: You will all do great!!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Pat. I appreciate it and I need it because I've got some serious distance work in front of me!

:Nope Nope Nope and Nope. :(

Really? REALLY? All those cuties and none of them are the right monkey. :faint:

:This is MY Monkey...

Ahh Yes - I remember HIM!

::yes::

::yes:: :thumbsup2

Fun Update! You got some great FOTLK pics, I love the fire juggler too, well, I love the whole show, one of my faves at all parks.

Thank you! It is a great show, isn't it? There is just so much action in that show. Plenty of stuff to look at. I can't wait to see the new theatre.

Oh and did you see I have a new ticker now?? I am so excited! :cheer2: :cool1:

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!! :cool1::woohoo::yay::banana: That is AWESOME! Nothing better than having a new trip on the horizon!

I was thinking we weren't going to be able to get there this year but then the time frame opened up. We made the reservation this afternoon. I went right in and made all my ADR's already, a few were already booked but I got most of what I wanted-- Boma (dinner), Biergarten, 50's PTC, Kona Cafe (Breakfast), Yak and Yeti, Via Napoli, and Crystal Palace (Dinner). the Biergarten is the only one we have been to before.

That's really awesome! It's always so great when you make the reservation and then being able to get your ADRs is such a winner. You've got a great line up there. :thumbsup2

Nice pictures as normal. And congratulations on registering for the race!!

Thanks on both counts! I've quite a bit of training work to do before the PHM, but I'm very committed right now! I just better stay that way.

Nemo is such a fun show! I remember how much DH despised it, but now that we have a kid, he really enjoys it.

:rotfl: Really? He didn't like it? Well thank goodness Calvin came along to change all that. :rotfl:

Yay for registering for the PHM!! :cool1: I'm sure you'll do fantastic! Especially training with this group of awesome women.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it. Once I realized I was going to be there the same weekend I knew I had to register. I thought about it for awhile, but it was basically a no brainer.

Luckily for me, I never had to experience the wait for ITTBAB. Have done it so many times over at Disney's California Adventure, we rarely check it out at AK. In fact, I don't think we've ever done it at AK!

Really? I guess if you have the same attraction at home then there is no reason to see it at AK. Why even waste your time. I know the wait used to be ridiculous and once EE opened then that all changed.

I always considered grabbing an extra pair of bug eyes for my camera. Wonder if they would work?!

I don't know - maybe? :confused3 I hadn't thought about doing that. Good idea!

OK caught up again. Had two 50th birthdays this weekend to attend.

Not one, but two? Wow - that means there were was some serious partying going on! Fun!

I love the FOTLK. My pics in December were horrible but I think it's because the camera was not working right at all. The main control panel in the camera was bad.

Ugh - that must have been so frustrating. If you can't use manual settings its pretty tough to take pics in there. Oh well - next time, right?

Congrats on the marathon. I would be happy to be able to walk in Disney let alone run. From the damage in my ankle my back and hip are acting up. I'm glad when I can walk with no pain. I used to be really athletic too. I miss those days.

Thanks!

I am thankful every day that I can run. I may be slow, but I know I am fortunate to be able to do it. Years ago I promised myself I would never take my mobility for granted because you never know when you might lose it.

Congrats on signing up for the PHM! You've got some really great running buddies too!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about the phm. I've got a lot of training to do! I'm most excited about seeing some of my favorite DISers there! :cool1:

Your pictures in this update are as fantastic as always. Love the ones of the Festival of the Lion King and in Camp Minnie Mickey. My show pictures always turn out gosh awful. Unfortunately, the show was closed when we went on our last trip so I'm really really looking forward to seeing it in the new theater.

Thank you! So glad you like the pics. :thumbsup2

I think the new theatre is going to be AWESOME! I'm really looking forward to seeing it for the first time! I'm glad I went to the show in October since it was also closed for us in May.

That is awesome, Mary Ellen!

:yay::yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::cheer2::cheer2:

I KNOW! I am SO excited! Woo Hoo! :cool1:

Isn't it GREAT? So excited! :cool1:

Awesome.....

thanks! I wish you were doing it too? Would you consider? :worship: :rolleyes1

Mixed feelings... like something about how you just started a new job and he's leaving his??? :lmao:

:rotfl2: I know, right? Something about that just seems SO fundamentally WRONG!!!!!!!! *heavy sigh*

I know what you mean. I've never ran a 1/2 marathon, but I once ran a mile and swore I'll never run one. :rotfl2:

:lmao: You are TOO funny!

You like that, huh?

:confused3 Not really. :rotfl2: We went just a couple of months after the park opened and I don't even remember waiting a long time on that trip.

Really? Maybe its because my first few trips were in the summer. Everything has lines in the summer. But I do remember it being a headline second to Safari and Dinosaur.

I know what you mean. I hate that feeling. You always want to linger and do 1 or 2 more things before you finally step out of the park that last time.

Ugh - its the worst feeling. You're grateful you had so much time there, but so bummed to be leaving until who knows when?

T
thanks! I wish you were doing it too? Would you consider? :worship: :rolleyes1
Consider going or running a half? Running a half may not be in the cards, but a 5K is doable.

AP expires in Oct. and I wasn't planning for another one so soon but..... never say never. :lmao:
