the Disnoids are freaking out again

I saw that. How silly. That comparison doesn't denigrate disney in any way, it just compares the rides and attractions. Get a life guys! :confused3

I guess I will never understand why some people feel they have to hate Universal to love WDW :confused3 Especially those that have never even been to Universal and are always putting it down. It's the nature of a business to poke fun at your competitor, coke and pepsi do it all of the time!

What's funny is that Universal has had that comparison guide for over 2 years. When they changed the website, they just made a link for it on all the pages. Many people missed it before but now it is more easily seen because of the links.

Simple, I think people are starting to realize there are other things out there! My kids are getting older and as much as I love the magical feel of Disney our family needs thrills....plus even the taste in videos/movies have started to change!
If all goes well, I can't wait to go to universal!

Seems to be one thing that makes Universal stand out to a lot of people on these boards........FOTL....Disney doesn't even have that (altho, I secretly wish they would!) :ssst:

WDW obviously couldn't utilize a FOTL system like UO does due to the number of resort rooms on property. that's why the extra magic hours have come out for resort guests. but with their popularity and Disney's wisdom, anything is possible in the future. Disney has been tinkering with the Fastpass system lately, it's gone on the Haunted Mansion. maybe a paid fastpass system like the express passes. maybe fast passes only available to guests staying at deluxe resorts. time will tell. :)

i believe i heard something along those lines. WDW knows people don't like to wait (esp. peak times) and have got to come up with something "extra" or "special" for some. we'd pay for a fastpass.....which i where I see them going...more money. I'm sure they're working on that now, since they have the "new Disney packages" all squared away. Let's hope :goodvibes ....my DH hates standing in line....(hence UO this year and not WDW).

It's the brainwashing cult thing again. A way for fans to show their allegiance to an interest, and go way overboard doing it.
Universal fans have broken free of this obsession, and realize it's ok to visit all the Orlando parks and not have an allegiance to one company. It's ok to get a rental car, and ping pong between all the parks, really, it is.

Being a new Universal fan, I am learning that now! :thumbsup2

Heh...I was just thinking...and it's tongue in cheek...but perhaps Disney SHOULD offer FOTL to resort guests....experience tells me those guests would all stand in THAT line causing the stand-by line to become a FOTL entrance for the rest of us! :teeth:

Now, I know, there are good, smart tourists...but...well, when they stand in line when the return on a fastpass is SHORTER, you have to wonder! Surely they don't ALL have a fastpass or two to other attractions and are therefore forced to stand in the stand-by line! It's obvious as you go through the fastpass queue and they glare and look befuddled! :confused3

It reminds me of a story that Richard the bartender at the Alchemy in IOA told me...he was at the Magic Kingdom years ago with a group of friends and they decided to stand and form a line in the middle of main street and sure enough...many, MANY people simply got in this line and stood...after awhile, the guys who formed it simply walked away leaving them there! :teeth: :thumbsup2 :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I guess I am off topic a bit...sorry!!! :rolleyes1

ON topic...as my name suggests...I love Disney...it's my first love, but we all do have to grow up sooner or later, don't we? :smokin: Actually, I love Disney AND Universal and when asked I will name the Magic Kingdom as my favorite park overall with IOA right behind...it's all about detail and theming and I was totally impressed with IOA when I first visited in 99 and I still am!

Why can't we love both??? We all benefit from them both being there...the bar is always being raised! :thumbsup2

i am on the disney boards more, but i REALLY LOVE US/IOA, there is no way to compare the two and the sooner people realize that the better off they will be, each is unique and has their own special fufillment they offer, why compare, i just enjoy them both, i like us/ioa more, but i enjoy them both

Im not surprised a bit...but that's not a Disney thing, it could happen at any parks in Orlando. It reminds me of an old episode of South Park, where they were at a local fair and stood in line then got to the end and there was nothing there, the kids asked the guy standing there what that was for, he said something like "its an accurate re-creation of what it's like to stand in a line" :confused3 ;)

Gotta love South Park! :thumbsup2 And no, It's definitely not a Disney thing, but it's my theory as to why the FOTL might work there for the rest of us AT Disney! Let them think they're getting a perk! :teeth: It's bad enough we locals have to suffer dining there because they are offering their guests such great dining plans now! :badpc: But that's a whole other thing! :smooth:

I hate to label, and I was one once...but it's a tourist thing! :rolleyes1 They aren't all bad...and I can honestly see why they have a hard time driving and getting the lay of the lands here, there really is alot and if you haven't been it is mind-boggling...but that doesn't excuse them for putting their rental in reverse on I-4!!! :teeth: :stir: :hippie:

Now, if Disney could only see fit to have happy hour! :teeth: Though I guess if the beer is $9 it tastes better! :smokin:

This can happen anywhere. I don't see what it has to do with WDW, really.

I am a huge Disney fan. I have been to Sea World and Universal. SeaWorld was OK but I didn't care much for Universal. I just feel like the park is dated. A few refurbs and updates will help greatly. I know people who like Universal and cannot stand Disney, and of course, vice versa... People have their own tastes, likes, and dislikes... So be it... No one should bash the other.... I prefer not to go to Universal since I do not enjoy it.. But I have been there a few times and gave it a chance... :)

We really like them both, we just get more out of WDW. That's understandable when you consider they have 4 parks and a whole lot more to do. For 2 or 3 days though, Universal can get us. We just couldn't spend as much time there as we do at WDW because we run out of things to do.

When was the last time you went? I mean they've been updating Universal for the past several years since IOA opened, in order to make sure both parks have something new for everyone.

Here's what's changed:
Kong replaced by The Mummy
Hanna Barbera replaced by Jimmy Neutron
Alfred Hitchcock replaced by Shrek 4D
MIB added
Fear Factor Live added

That's quite a bit in a few years time.

if someone is a complete disney fan and either doesn't like universal or has never been to universal, why do they post on the universal forums?????

if you don't like universal, why are you posting here?

if you want info, that is great and ask all the questions you want. all of us here want to help you. we love talking about things that are dear to us.

if you just want to upset people, you have.

i would never dream to post negative things on a specific disney thread. that is just not nice. i was taught, if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.

i have nothing against conversation but after going thru the threads today, i realize there is too much negativity being posted. we like the dark side, it is our type of magic. plus, many of us here go to both parks and not just a one time event. we enjoy spending time with our families at happy places.

macraven, thanks. You said what I have been thinking since these threads started popping up, again. :thumbsup2
