the Disnoids are freaking out again

what an idea McBean....got you inside w/o buying the one day pass! :thumbsup2
I just read this book called "Secret Service" (about customer service) and they mention Disney quite a lot in there. Apparently when the author's son was 6, he didn't realize he was too short to ride ToT and got turned away at the entrance of ToT. Practically in tears, the CM gave him a "certificate" that when he was tall enough, to come back and ride and jump to the front of the line without waiting. Point of story was: wasn't CM's fault they didn't check his height restriction, but to please a little boy and his Dad, the CM gave him this certificate. Anyone heard of this before cuz I never have and have never read about it on the boards (then again, if you read these boards, you're a little more informed and don't do that!) But, I cannot compare WDW & UO cuz I haven't been to UO since it was just U!! ('92)

At Universal, you don't have to show ID to renew your annual pass. Why would a stranger steal your AP and then pay to renew it?

Universal often gives awards if kids can't ride. There was a guest service coordinator who gave a child a card that said he would ride the Mummy with her when she was tall enough. She came back a year later and the GS coordinator had moved out of state and wasn't with the company so another coordinator offered to ride with her.

bubba, yes i have seen disney do that with the certificate. not all cm will do it. the staff they have at disney now is not the same as it was back in 02.

last year i had encounteres with 2 different cms and had to report it to guest services.

there are some people that love the mouse and do what is expected of them in their jobs. now a days, some people just want a paycheck and do the minimum there. if a child is very upset or the parent is, a cm can do the certificate thing. i have seen that happen. i have not seen it happen if the family gets the , oh well attitude and just leaves without incident when told the kid doesn 't meet the height requirement.

that is kewl what uo did for that child phamton posted on

)

she wanted us to buy 3 one day passes to process the AP's. so over $150.00 just to walk to town hall.

i checked out the thread that was posted and all it did was piss me off.

i am not replying to it.

i get upset when the disneyites come to the universal forums and blast universal. so, i am not going to go to the disney thread and post.

but , i will remember those posters over there that come over to browse and argue on these forums.

I'm the one who's probably going to sound nasty here but this is the Universal Forum. Those of us who hang out here think of USF/IOA as "our" parks. (Maybe I shouldn't speak for everyone, but that's how I feel). This is the one place on the DISboards where we don't have to constantly defend the place we love. Those who are WDW fans have umpteen forums to discuss everything Disney. We don't. And while I really don't care if the Disnoids go nuts on UO on any of the other forums, it does bother me when I see it here. It feels like trolling.

Just for the record, I used to be a total DISnut, which is how I ended up on these forums in the first place but in the past decade, I noticed a general decline in many areas of service at Disney. As such, my family has not felt the need to go to WDW since 2001, even though we went at least once a year every year since 1985.

I agree with everything you said, especially the fact that Disney has definitely declined in the customer service department. They tend to push the limits on many things, especially in the resort hotels. The service at the Universal Resorts is superior to Disney's hotels.

the moderators have granted my request for a larger avatar area. however, we're all in agreement that we need pictures in advance to decide on how best to make use of the space. :)
