The Disneyland Security Point Thread

The walkway from the garage to DTD is now slightly different. I've marked it in yellow.

These are great suggestions. Thanks updated main post with all suggestions/corrections

In the main post map, I'm a little confused about the 4th checkpoint at the GCH (the red line that appears to be by the main Starbucks in DTD). The GCH has 3 checkpoints: the Disneyland Dr. sidewalk at the front entrance (no bag check, no metal detectors there), the hotel entrance to DCA (w/bag check and metal detectors), and the Moon Gate/DTD entrance (by Sephora in DTD, w/bag check and metal detectors). At least, those are the checkpoints that we use regularly. Is there another one that we've missed?

According to touring plans there is another between Starbucks and World of Disney. It maybe only in operation occasionally?

I don't recall ever seeing a security checkpoint and/or bag check between the main Starbucks and WOD. If there is one, it is behind the gate -- maybe only for commercial deliveries? I don't think I've ever seen a checkpoint there for guests. There used to be a checkpoint and bag check by La Brea Bakery, but it was removed with all the changes over a year ago.

Oh wait, I was wrong above. There is a security stand there, it’s not staffed usually so I think it may only be there for special occasions.

That is so weird -- I just saw the photo in the Touring Plans article (https://blog.touringplans.com/2016/12/15/everything-need-know-disneylands-new-security-procedures/). I've never seen that security stand staffed or even seen that gate used by guests, only by CMs. And that photo is from 2016 -- I'll have to check on our next visit to see if the security equipment is still there and, if it is, ask if anyone knows why.
I don't have personal experience with this but I remember reading this in the GCH super thread:
Over the Holidays I witnessed the DTD security line backed all the way up to the Christmas Tree in the lobby...no joke...so it does happen.

They ended up bringing folks through the Courtyard and opened a third checkpoint that entered DTD behind Starbucks to relieve the pressure but it was a cluster for a while.
It sounds to me like the extra security checkpoint is only opened in times of extreme congestion (Christmas week). Maybe it should be marked with an extra note on the map to designate that it's not typically available.

I wonder if during the construction of the new hotel the walkway and security checks by DLH will be significantly impeded at any point. If so, maybe they'll start allowing PPH guests to enter through GCH again and open up the extra security checkpoint to ease congestion for a while.

This makes sense and would explain why we've not seen that particular checkpoint in use: it's only used at times when we avoid the parks!

That checkpoint is used for both overflow when needed as well as they use it for special events...for example when a convention group is having an event at the GCH and they are taking them all into the parks for an in park experience. Not usually open to general attendees.
