The Disneyland Hotel Superthread

Hi all! We’ll be staying at the DLH for the first time in September. I have a premium view room booked for me, my husband, and sons, 10 and 13. Do all 2 Queen rooms have the daybed as well, or is that something I have to specifically request? We’re used to the Polynesian at WDW and the daybed arrangement works great for us.
Also, is there an advantage to calling early to have room requests added to our reservation, or are we ok to wait until we do the online checkin before our visit?
Thanks!
I would call right now and have them put the request on the room & then also verify it at check in at the front desk before checking in

Thanks!! I saved that in my notes to remember on ways to get in. I am really excited for the 2 br and feel good about doing it vs the 1 br. I think we would have been fine in the 1 br but am really looking forward to the extra space & hope we get a balcony! Were you able to see the fireworks at all? Even if we can't I would be overjoyed with having one.
We were on the 7th floor and had a great view of the fireworks. It’s definitely nicer than the 1br!

That is awesome!! I love the look of their balconies and just windows in general I really think every hotel sound do ones like that... well maybe not depending the view LOL

Have you checked into the signature suites at either hotel? The GCH has some nice ones that actually feel like suites. We've stayed in the El Capitan 2-bedroom as well as the Mickey Mouse Penthouse at DLH. Those both have lots of room to spread out and multiple rooms for more privacy. No balcony, but the MMPH faces Downtown Disney and has a good view of the fireworks. The El Capitan in GCH had a long balcony with the ability to see most of the fireworks. It faces into Grizzly Peak that was nice and peaceful. We would order room service and eat out on the balcony in one of the loungers. They book up pretty quickly, so you would have to jump on them for December if they are not already sold out. The only thing I really recommend if you go this route is to have an extra day/night to just relax and spend time in the suites. We were glad we had a down day in the middle of our weeks so that we could just hang out and experience each of the rooms fully. When you're go, go, go it can be hard to really sit and appreciate your surroundings unless you are forced to :upsidedow

When I started planning I seriously considered booking one of those suites for 2-3 days because this trip is really special... I know even trip is but this one just has a lot of extra special meaning 💕 but then switched it to a spending 5-6 days.

Once the 2024 bookings open up I am going to try to get the Fairytale suite for my daughters 6th b-day end of May but I am almost wondering if it would be better to wait till she is a little bit older. It is on my travel bucket list to do one of the bigger suites if anything just as an end of a trip resort day!

I would love to do this but those suites are way out of my price range unless I were to go with unrelated people who kicked in for the cost.

The exception is the Fairytale Suite, which I was able to book. That was a wonderful experience but it limits you since it only has one king bed. If there are only 2 of you, or possibly 2 and a younger child (there is a chaise longue in the room), it's a fantastic room and priced much lower than the other signature suites. I think the bathroom is bigger than the room, LOL.

Did you do the Fairytale suite wit your girls? I am tempted to try to get one for me & my daughter next year for her 6th birthday. But almost think maybe I need to wait till she is a little bit older

I was looking for (but couldn't find it they must of taken it down!) this blog post from a very long time ago where this couple rented out a suite and eloped in it. Which I guess for the price of weddings 2 nights in a suite might be cheaper LOL

Are you sure the add on is $450/night? We were just at the DLH a week and a half ago and we paid $250/night to add club level on to our 2 bedroom suite. We added it on when we checked in, not sure if that makes a difference?

This person is talking about the difference in price between a regular room and a club level room, not the price of adding club level onto your room at check-in.

I love this room! I agree it's slightly dated but I don't even care 🤣 I would love to be book it for our daughters birthday as a surprise for her.... OK for me!
Oh I meant the blog post is slightly dated (I think they stayed in 2017?). The room has a certain older charm that I love about the DLH! It would be hard for me to leave that steam shower 😀

When I went, it was with the older decor (muted greens, light carpet, silk canopy bed). The new look is bolder, with a boxier style bed canopy and lots of purple. No more carpet, either. It's less romantic but it's still really cool.

I reserved it as a surprise for my friend. Two of our other friends who live nearby joined us but didn't sleep there. We had a blast and it was very magical indeed! We had a great time watching the fireworks and drinking sparkling wine while noshing on goodies from the lounge next door. I loved the way Tinkerbell flew around the entry and lit up the glass curios. You could flip a switch in the bathroom and the granite (?) counter would light up, and there was an invisible TV in the mirror!

I also reserved it for my son and DIL for their honeymoon :)

Just wanted to let everyone know - during the month of September, Disneyland cabanas will be unavailable because they are replacing them. We were really lucky to get one at the Grand!
I am kind of obsessed with the idea of a cabana just the idea makes me happy 🤣 With our December trip I am not sure if it will be an option with the weather... I am tempted to still try to book one. Once the 2024 bookings open I am planning on booking a Spring or early Summer trip and I NEED one!

Do you happen to know what they are thinking of doing different with them? I really like the ones at the Grand with the sofa & layout of them and hope they do something similar. It really was one of the reasons that I really was leaning towards the Grand.

I did see you were thinking of trying the Grand again & I am looking forward to seeing how it goes for you. How you speak about the DLH defiantly helped sway me over.

I love this all so much!!! This has been on my travel bucket list & just confirms why it is on there. I bet your son & DIL were over the moon what an amazing gift & also experience to have. 💕

Is it more expensive to book it as a CL room because it is guaranteed, as opposed to adding it on, which is subject to availability? I guess the room location could be different, as pre-booked CL rooms tend to be on the floors/building near the club, versus just any room? We did CL on a suite at GCH, but for those, you can only add it on at check in (as I recall).
