"The Disneyland Diet"

I am down 2 more pounds, feeling better each day. Today I added fresh vegetable juice with apple. ( I have a wonderful juice machine) each day it just gets better and better. today I feel great.
I actually got every room of my house done and all the laundry, including kids coats, (they have 3 each) bedding, cloths rugs. I have not felt like cleaning in a long time, well besides keeping up the house each day,;) I even cleaned the basement:scared1: Each day I feel better and better!! :cheer2: my goal. 3 pounds next week!!

This is the sort of thing that needs to happen for me. I need to start eating more fruit and vegetables--fruit's no problem for me, but veggies I have to find more ways to cook them that I like. I got the Vegetable Bible recently and picked up an old Sunset Ideas for cooking vegetables that I need to look at. I also got a smoothie maker cheap, and will make fruit/banana yogurt concoctions. I feel fuller when I eat veggies/fruit and for me that's a big part of weight loss-- I hate feeling hungry. I don't know if it's because I was anorexic for awhile in my teens or that I had periods of time when I starved when I was young living in Southern California- but I hate it. I always say I'm part cat--all of the cats that we have rescued that have known hunger are Fat. Anyway-- I need to be cleaning the house more. I just have a problem with the absolute boredom of it-- all my cd's are old, and I'm just not all that interested in them, and I cannot clean with an m3 player attatched to me--lol. Mybe I'll just go on a downloading frenzy here, keep a list of songs I want in a notebook file..I'm also volunteering for a thrift shop that is non profit (animal rescue) that needs donations and I know I have so much stuff that just needs to be gone through.

Thats terrific!! Lwt us know how you like it I plan to do more on my treadmill, I had it 4 years now, I believe its time to use it again

I like to watch the View and do the treadmill, and just switch to the many news channels on commercials. It's a show I'd watch anyway, so this way I'm not just sitting on my rear end watching it, it's on every day and it's early enough I can sweat and shower after.

Whoops, I thought a Disney diet was eating something in the shape of a Mickey each day. I'm thinking that's now what this thread was about... :mickeybar

Good job to everyone with the willpower to resist the mickey ice cream bar!

Yeah-- I thought it was just dieting while you're at Disney lol. I can't believe I have missed this thread.

Hi-- can't believe I missed this thread, thought it was somethin' else. I want to lose about 20 pounds. I think that is realistic--in 10 months. I think looking good for pictures and feeling better maneuvering around the park is great motivation. I also have been having some extreme back pain and need to lose weight. (old back injury, have a job in the meat dept. where I lean into a case all day and I'm top heavy). Also the cost of going I want to offset with my weight loss which would cost me a lot to lose weight by other methods-- such as Weight Watchers. This has to do it for me-- I have so much pain....I'll post my weight here once a week-- 'cause it will keep me honest (borrowing the line from Anderson Cooper). Thanks, Susan.

Wow-- I was so excited about the thread yesterday I didn't bother to edit lol. I forgot to add my starting weight is 174. No matter what I do I always come back to 174. Not 175 or 173...that must be my "set point". Would love to change that. I like this board too- I already gave up on every other Disney board (except trip reports ;-) on Dis boards because they are all so Disney World oriented.

WOW you guys are all so motivating! Noryglory, quick Q, was your walking a usual type of walking around the park, getting from ride to ride, to shows, etc... or did you walk more than usual? (ie. instead of taking the train, opting to walk)? just curious so I can get an idea of how much I could have possibly walked... Man, I need to get one of those meters to count my steps too!

Nope, we totally just did our thing. No "extra" walking and no "reduced" walking, just whatever was the appropriate thing. We did take the train several times but not to avoid walking, just because of timing/crowds for what we wanted to do. And I never thought "we should walk MORE" ha ha ha. We did stay at the Hojo and took a break every day but Monday, so that meant an extra walk there and back on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We also went into Downtown Disney every day for a meal or a shopping trip so that adds up too.

Now while I didn't do any "extra" walking, I was the Fastpass "runner" for our group. Once we wanted to go on Cal Screamin one more time later in the day and knew we'd need/want a fastpass, and we were at the entrance. I told the kids and my friend to take it easy and "time me" ha ha and I fast walked/jogged out there and back. It took me about 10 minutes total, and I didn't look at how far that was but that of course added a bunch of steps to the count of course. Stuff like that was extra but really just a part of our overall experience.

We leave in 5 days!   I didn't lose the 10 lbs, but I did lose 4 (4.25 to be exact). So that has me motivated-slow and steady right? And now mil's sister wants to take us to Hawaii in July, so that gives me time to lose some more.

Hey- pick up something that weighs 4 pounds--you'll appreciate what is not on your body anymore.

Yep-I do feel better, too. I just need to keep going! I guess losing 10% of my total goal in 4 wks isn't so bad.

sometimes I'm afraid to check the scale, so instead I gage it by how snugg my clothes fit around my waist and also, how much better I feel overall- less sluggish, more positive, better lifelong habits always gives me a boost in self-esteem and self-satisfaction, which keeps me motivated... 4 lbs is great! I hear that gradual is actually better too...

So I had my first weigh-in and measure session at Curves today, after just over one month, I have lost eleven pounds and almost ten inches!! I wasn't expecting to have done that well, I am very excited. I actually wasn't able to watch my eating as well as I should have in the past month - we had my DH's birthday, our wedding anniversary, and several cookouts in the nice weather. I have even had a random bowl of ice cream here or there.....
I guess that exercise is the big key for me. That and drinking lots of water. Plus if I do have a big meal planned, I have been making sure my other meals are small and I cut out the "extras" - And I guess it works! Yay!!

That's great! I actually weighed myself today-- because I've been so good and I lost 3 pounds--I know it's just water weight, but it's still great :yay:

Hi all! I hope everyone is well. I haven't checked in for a while.

I'm still doing really well bringing AND eating fruits w/ lunch. I've also managed to keep up with doing a 30 min video in the morning 3 days a week. I'm happy to say that I'm getting better at some of the moves that I couldn't do at all when I first started. I still fudge  my diet with ice cream... I try to stick to the skinny cow sandwiches, but it doesn't help that on occassion I eat 2!

I'm afraid to see the scale. I don't feel like I've lost anything. But I like feeling better about my choices so I'm just going to keep on truckin'. :yay:

I have a fear of scale too, but it really helps when I've lost- puts me in a great mood, and if I don't look then I gain-- it's just how it is.

Is anyone else on WW's? If so, I would love some suggestions for 1-3 point snacks that I can carry each day in my backpack, that won't melt!

I will be eating breakfast each morning in the hotel and have planned in a few churros, a caramel apple, and some ice cream, but I really need thoughts on carry in snacks. I eat something every few hours to keep my blood sugar and metabolism going so I need to bring things in so I don't spend a fortune in the park!

Thanks!

I'm not on WW but...

How abou those carrots and celery stick snack packs? Or a few healthy granola bars or protein bars (yuck!) Will apples work? Trail mix? Mixed nuts? Dried fruit?

The "100-calorie" packs are good...they come in several types: crackers, cookies, granola bars, etc. Also, I really like "Quakes" the Quaker mini rice cakes in cheddar, they taste like Cheetos to me. Of course fruit is a good option as well both whole (apples, bananas) as well as dried for a quick pick-me-up. I mostly brought snacks in to the park for the kids so we could keep on moving and not pay lots of money for snacks, and also not have to stop and/or wait in food lines when we were getting to and from places in the park or were in a time crunch.

We did eat cereal in the room each morning before heading out which is a great way to start your day. It's definitely wise to plan in some treats, you know you will want them.

I weighed in yesterday and although my "Disneyland Diet" is in post-production LOL I still lost 1.3 pounds! I'm almost to my goal of 10 for the trip, even though I got back two weeks ago...slow and steady, every little bit helps! I'm very happy with it. I was asked yesterday what I was doing, had I lost 10 pounds?!? A great acknowledgement that the weight off is now showing to folks who didn't know I was dieting!

Everyone keep up the good work. Progress is progress no matter how slow.

Thanks for your ideas! I always forget about trail mix! They have some yummy ones at Trader Joe's!

That is so awesome!! Congratulations! What an accomplishment that is!
I myself am right at the 30lb mark right now, which is exciting for me because usually I plateau out around 20lbs and end up giving up. This time I really think I can get to my next big goal, which is also 50lbs. If and when I get there, I will be so happy it won't be hard to set another goal......You have inspired me to believe it is possible! :thumbsup2

Sounds like you guys are doing great. Yeah I hit the plateau at 164. Lol, the weight seems to level off at 174 and then refuse to go lower then 164. Then I give up-- without fail. My daughter miscarried tonight. She's ok thank god but were all just shocked. It's times like this my diet goes caput. I think I cheered her up though by telling her- hey at least she can go to Disneyland now :) We're all heartbroken, but it really would have been a difficult thing for her as the father is no longer a part of her life and she's very young. I hope she realizes she has her whole life in front of her and one day it will be her time- a better time. I don't know what to do about emotional eating- guess a support group helps eh? I really will enjoy having her with us on our trip- she loves Disneyland like the rest of us and it would be good for us as a family. She's 19 and we had all the usual trouble and then some in her late teens...now I gotta figure out what to do about our hotel.. I wish HOJO would come out with their 2009 et book rates...I've been checking every day for 3 months. We got one room before the 2009 rates disappeared. One room would be tight for the 3 of us-- impossible for all 4 of us. I guess in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to check the Desert Inn, but I just really want to stay at the HOJO darn it.
