Please forgive me, I am sure this has been asked but this thread is LONG!!

What do you tip at the buffets? We are planning a dinner at Boma and Chef Mickey's. When we eat at a buffet outside the world we tip a lot less than at a full service dinner.

How much each of us tip is not permitted topic of discussion.

What I can say is that Disney, when it imposes an automatic gratuity, does not make any differentiation between buffet and full-service, while standard tipping guides do.

I hope that helps.

Oops! I guess I didn't read the rules very well, either..mea culpa! Thanks for the guidelines, though!

specific tippings amounts/percentages are not a permitted topic of discussion, please see post 1 for specifics

thank you,

Hi there! :flower3:

We will be travelling in 12 days to POFQ. There will be 6 of us on this trip. We're all on the dining plan.

I've heard that for parties of 6 or more they will automatically add the 18% gratuity. Which is perfectly fine with me (the less math I have to do on vacation...the better).

My question is this: We were planning on having everything split into 2 bills, to make it easier for the server when removing the dining points from our accounts. I'm assuming they will still add the 18% to our bills even though essentially we will be a party of 4 and a party of 2.

I hope so.

Thanks! :surfweb:

Do they figure the 18% based on what you order or what you paid for the dining plan? We're on the DxDP and we're a party of 8. Just wondering....

I am going to sit down and figure out the worth of using the DDP vs. just paying out of pocket. Is the tip figured in before or after taxed amt?? We are dining with another family so the automatic 18% tip would be added whether we use DDP or OOP. Thanks

Due to restaurant forum policy that all tipping discussion (and this is a tipping question) must be conducted on the Tipping Information Thread, this thread is merged with that one.

Nope. According to Disney, if you are all sitting at the same table you are still a party of six. The 18% will be added to each bill.

I don't think you tip on the tax. I believe it is calculated on the price before tax. I haven't actually paid attention though. I use TIW and they always add the tip to the bill.

Tip is on the amount before tax

We are doing the dinning plan and was wondering how much would you save up for tips? We will be doing 7 TS meals and we are a party of 3. Our most expensive TS will be Le Cellier.

I have budgeting issues

I would go and look at the menus, guess what you guys will get and figure it that way. Don't forget to add in the drink and dessert along w/ your entree. That is the best way I've found to accurately budget for your tips.
