I'm not sure if this has already been asked...its a long thread.
We are on the dining plan and was wondering how much do you guys budget for tips?
We are trying to do cash only and I just wanted an idea of how much to allot for that.

Thanks

We are going in june we have a party of 6 and If I am getting this right we get added on tip
1. is this 18% or is it 20%.
2. And can we put the tip on our credit card. We are on the ddp. we are paying out of pocket for 2 meals. And we will be using our room keep that has the credit to the key.
3. Can we add tips to the room as well?

4.We also are spliting up for some dinners and we hope to do the same. But since I will be having dinner with some of the family in our 2nd room can i charge my part of tip to my room and they put their tip on their room?

Thanks
Sorry i didn't get to finish reading the thread yet.

I'm not sure I understand all you asked ,but you will be charged 18% for a party of 6 or more.
Your dinners will be on your room key, but if you have 2 rooms, only the people in your room are on your key, so the other room wil lbe on it's own. You will both have to present a key from your room to pay, and then if you are having the tip added, it wil lbe only your portion added to your room charge.

How many are in your group? You can look at menues on all ears to get an idea. Not all the prices are completely accurate, but it will give you an idea.
We were a party of 3, 2 adults and a child, and we did mostly character meals/buffets and our tips usually ran $15-20 a meal

We're a party of 5, me, dh, ds8, dd6, dd4

Thanks, I guess I'll just need to take some time to do all the math

thanks! That is so helpful!

Now when/if we order a cake. Who do we send the tips to the bakery or the restaurant we are having the cake at? Because i'd like to tip to the right people!

I don't know if you tip for the cake or not? I never paid attention, but I bet it was just added to our bill as part of the cake. I don't think you tip the bakery though.

Disneyfamof5 (I should've paid attnetion to you name. LOL) I would guess that if you are doing buffets, that your tips would be in the $20 to 30 range? Also depends on if it is breakfeast, lunch or dinner. Breakfasts cost less, so the tip would be less. Also I think buffets are genreally more than what you would pay for a menu item at other table services, but adult meals could possibly be more depending on what you order.

Just wondering if this is included in the price or is tipping extra? If so, how much do you leave? TIA!

I also think tipping 18% at a buffet is a little high. I live in Las Vegas where there are many buffets and the general rule people follow out here is $1-$2 per person for a gratuity.

I'll be going to both CM and CP in June with 8 people and Disney is going to automatically add the 18% gratuity to our bill. In my opinion, that's going to be a pretty big tip for just bringing us drinks and clearing off our table.

Just wanted to confirm on these. I leave in three days and am going to the bank after school for tip money. ANy info you can provide would be great!

I don't have time to read through the whole thread as I"m leaving in three days and was hoping someone could tell me the standard for tipping at buffets. I usualy leave between 15 - 20 %, but at the buffets, are you expected to leave that much? I want to make sure I leave the appropriate amount. Thanks :)

What is the proper amount/percentage to tip at a CS like WPE?

The answer to this question has probably been given but I haven't the time at the moment to go through 77 pages! I am taking my Daughter, her twin daughters, age 12, her son, who will be 2 and me. Does my grandson count? When it comes to tipping I mean. I know that he doesn't get a park ticket and is not on the DDP but does he count? I thought that the mandatory 18% was on 8 or more such as a grandgathering?

Yes at Disney it's the same as any other resurant

I think he will count as a member at the table, so if you have a party of 6 or more, no matter the age, they will add a mandatory tip of 18%. The amount will be based on what you get to eat/drink before tax. It sounds like there is only 5 of you though, unless you have a DH you didn;t mention coming along.

I have a bunch of Landry's gift cards. We plan on going to RFC, T-Rex, and Yak&Yeti. Does anyone know if I can also pay the tip with the gift cards?

Hi, from Poly thread! :wave2: We're doing this lunch on our trip, too. The price you paid when booking includes tax and gratuity so no tipping is required. princess:

I posted a question the other day about tips w/the DDP and having a larger party. Here were the answers I received on CRT tipping:

Gratuities at CRT are included when using DDP dining credits.

The question has been answered (tip is included in the price of CRT regardless of party size and whether or not you are using dining credits), so rather than moving this to the Tipping Information Thread, where all tipping discussion should be carried out on the restaurant boards, I am closing this thread.

It is 6 or more and everyone at the table counts toward the party size, including infants.

While the tip is included in the price of CRT, it is not included at Akershus. You should plan to add a tip there.

I know at other food courts you do not pay a gratuity. But when I was reading about pepper market, I read something about a 10% gratuity. Do I have to pay that too? I know I will have to pay my gratuity with my TS meals. Just wondering about pepper market.

Thanks!

The 10% is included with the dining plan, you would have to pay it only if you were paying OOP for your meal.
