Tonight, I was lucky enough to pick up quite a few deals at the Semi-Annual Sale. Adult T-Shirts were $2.99! All clearance was an additional 40% off, there were some nice deals to be had on summer Tiki themed merchandise.

But, the real news is what's about to happen in the coming months. According to the Store Manager, at the recent big sales meeting, the powers that be admitted that they made an error when they cut out the adult merchadise and that it's coming back, even in larger sizes! I am talking leather jackets and other nice apparel! They are also going to debut some nice things for the home, like some really beautiful canvas artwork. I was a bit spoiled tonight, because I was able to buy all 4 of the first releases tonight! I hope to post photos of them in the next day or so. It's almost bedtime, so I don't think that I can get them done tonight, but I will tell you that they are really nice. I got Snow White, Donald, Mickey, and Tinker Bell!

Ok, that's the scoop. Feel free to discuss. Maggie

What, no "All Pooh, All the Time?" I walked past a Disney store yesterday without going inside. Now I might have a reason to take another look.

If only they would bring back TDS to my local mall! Now the nearest store is a 3.5 hour drive away!:(

Too bad they "drove" off all the customers. Didn't anyone tell them it's easier to KEEP a customer then find a new one. (I am not likely to go out of my way ever again for one of these stores and there is not one in my mall so...lost opportunity for them)

Agree, they will need promotions to bring their adult customers back in. I think most gave up years ago... :sad2: :dance3:

At my store, we have plenty of adult shoppers, many who have been coming in for years. I know for a fact that despite the CMs passing the need for adult clothing on to upper management, it was heard upon with deaf ears. In the last year, things have taken a turn for the better with adult clothing. Although I haven't worked since my manager returned from the sales conference, I look forward to hearing about all of the new merchandise in store for us! :)

Are you talking TDS online or the actual stores in the malls? They are owned by two different entities so I was just curious (The Children's Place owns the physical stores which is why you no longer find the items in the stores online).

I swear to God I thought all of these stores closed...are you people saying they are still open and they still sell Disney stuff?? :confused3 :confused3

Is ABC still on the air too?? :confused3 :confused3

I'll believe this one when I see it - it's owned by a company called The Childrens Place after all.

I'd rather see WoD branch out to having one in the major cities first.

TDS is returning to their roots. TCP didn't purchase TDS in order to turn it into a kids store, it already was one. Disney took the adult apparel out of the store in the 2002 season, TCP didn't take over until late 2004. Adult lines have been test marketed for the last two years and are currently being launched in all stores over the next couple of months. The current studio line is fab.

Bear this in mind, they went away when people stopped buying them, so if you want the great adult stuff of years past buy it before it goes on clearance. If people only buy it when its clearance priced at less than half the original retail value it is not profitable and won't be kept around.

Also, as of July 10th, www.disneystore.com will be relaunched and affiliated with retail locations. Currently if you type in www.disneystore.com you are redirected to www.disneyshopping.com which is under seperate ownership. This redirect will no longer take place.

So there will be two different Disney shopping sites online? One for TDS (owned by TCP) and one for the official Disney shopping through Disney? I am really confused now :confused3

I'm really happy to see the adult line return to the Disney stores.
We just started getting some of the clothing in one of the local malls. And... I did some credit card damage.

I'll believe it when I see it... I spent one year working at TDS under Disney ownership, when it was aready becoming a glorified toy store, then one year under TCP, during which upper level management (regional and up) continued to drag the stores downhill and with promises of REMODELS! NEW INVENTORY! NEW UPDATED POS ELECTRONICS
They never happened, most probably never will. I think it is too little too late for this, not that I really believe it ever will happen. TCP sucked the joy (and that's all we had in leu of low pay for the above average work expected) out of working there.
It's hard to share the Magic when you aren't feeling it.

perdidobay, you sound just like me! I worked at TDS for three wonderful years before it was sold to Hoop Retail. I had the best management team and we had a great cast. We worked hard but all loved what we did so we still had lots of fun. Admittedly, I was working for perks because the pay was awful (I usually spent more than I made at the store)

When Hoop came on board, much of my staff went to work for Build-A-Bear across the mall. The new SM is a tyrant and a bully. She not only sucked the magic out of what we did, she sucked the very life out of me. I was the last one to stick it out in my store and finally, after sticking it out for 18 months, I couldn't take it anymore and left. The last straw was the night she screamed at me onstage for over an hour about not being a "team player".

Sadly, the standards in the store have gone into the toilet. No one does plush mountain any more. They just pile everything in there. The fixtures aren't dusted, the glass isn't cleaned. So, I have to agree. I don't think bringing back adult merchandise would be enough to bring me to step foot back into that store.

Very nice post!!!! That is excactly what I've been saying all along about the adult clothing.

At my store, plush mountain is at least touched and zoned once a night whenever I work. I'll admit that I'm not the best person to do plush mountain, but it is at least organized when I'm done with it. As far as the glass not being cleaned, every morning our windows are washed, inside and outside. Our standards (at least at my store) have not been lowered since the TCP sale. Actually, we vaccum every night now, instead of just once a week or so.

I'm excited to see the new things and what is going to come to the store next! :)

I really hope you're only speaking about the store that you used to work in. Don't paint all of us with such a broad, unflattering brush.

I can only speak to my personal experience at the Davenport Iowa store #531. Even as bad as it got, most of us former CMs still miss our Disney Family terribly.

I am just curious what are the perks if any to working at the disney store? I was considering a part time job there to pay for me disney trips and hopefully get some good discounts.

Unless things have changed since last fall, you get 30% of merchandise at The Disney Store and The Children's Place only. You have access to three one day park hoppers per year. They have to be ordered through the store at least 30 days in advance of your trip and can only be picked up at the ticket windows at the four major parks once you arrive.
