The Disney Adventures of Scooter Mom-Sept 7-14 (COMPLETE)

Great report!!!! I love your photos!

We are leaving for a trip with my parents in 17 days. We have rented a scooter for my mom, who has a bad knee. Just curious - did you find it easy to ride the scooter through the queues? And, How did you know which rides had the wheelchair (yay!) and which didn't (boo)?

Thanks!!!!!

:welcome: thanks so much for reading !! I hope my info is helping !!

The only time I had a hard time maneuvering was at Roaring Forks which had these ribbon queues. You know those that weave you back and forth ?? They were always too narrow to navigate. But everywhere else was VERY accessible. I went over to the DISAbilities thread and read that and it was very helpful.

From memory, the rides where you could stay in a wheel chair OR were VERY easy to get onto were:

(these were the ones we rode, there might be other attractions you are interested in doing that we chose not to do)

Magic Kingdom - Pooh, Philharmagic, Buzz, Small World.
Epcot - Figment, Soarin', Mexico Ride.
Hollywood Studios - Toy Story Mania, Great Movie Ride
Animal Kingdom - The Safari, Expedition Everest

There is a lot more you can do. Just ask a CM. All of the ones we asked were very friendly and helpful.

Day 7 Part 2

Everest was a walk-on and I was able to park close to the train and hop right on with no problem.

DS commented that the Yeti itself was working and a nearby CM said that Yes, today it is working. That Yeti is cranky and didnt want to work sometimes. He also told us they called the yeti Betty. Yep. That is her name. Betty the cranky Yeti. We thought the whole exchange was pretty funny.

We snagged a root beer float from this little bus they have decorated. I just love the colors and detail on it.

In the meantime, DH and DD were riding Kali River Rapids multiple times and got off completely soaked. We planned ahead this time and I brought a change of clothes for them. So we got their clothes changed and I wanted to go on the Maharajah Jungle Trek and see the tigers, so we did that.

Its as if he's saying, "I don't have time to pose this drink. I'm too busy enjoying my own. :rotfl:

I always love you AK pictures. You capture so many great details and nooks that I never see when I'm there. I always have something to go look for the next time I go.

The Disney blog had something recently about the Zebra habitat being almost ready to go. Hopefully once they get that up and running the story will be better. It is a little weird without the poaching story to fill in some spots. I still love it though.

Yeah, he is way too cool for photos any more. They both say they don;t like photos pass either, so I save the money. Those floats were super good, though. Hate those paper straws, but I understand the need for them.

I really love the details at AK. It is really super cool how detailed it is. Yes, looking forward to the safari being finished.

I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer that Betty the Yeti be sleeping all the time. She scares me!

Tigers are so beautiful! I just love cats. All of them.

I thought the Betty the Yeti was funny, though.

Yes, the Tigers are just so beautiful. We are always too tired to see them, so I am really happy we took the time to see them this time.

Awww I'm sad to hear that "Simba One" is gone!! I always liked that!!

:rotfl: Betty the Yeti! That's a great name for her! (And all this time I thought the Yeti was a male!)

I just feel like the safari is kinda stale now without the poaching story. But I am looking forward to seeing the zebras.

I thought it was male, too !! But when you think about it .... doesn't the yeti accurately depict how all of us ladies feel at certain times of the month ?? And the CM did mention how cranky Betty was, so .....

Day 7 – Part 3

I loved the themeing along the trail

Then, DH and I decided we were going to have lunch at the Yak and Yeti counter service. I knew the kids wouldn’t eat anything here, so just the two of us got something and then we got the kids something to eat at Restuarantasaurus.

DSC00057.jpg

I have always wanted to eat here. It always smells so good when we walk by. So I was happy to be giving it a try.

DH ordered the sweet and sour chicken

DSC04974.jpg

DS tried some and liked it, so they were able to finish it.

I ordered the Beef Lo Mein

DSC04977.jpg

I liked this as well. But this is a HUGE portion and even with DH helping, we only managed half. Two, maybe three people could easily share this. It was good. I liked the crunchy veggies and savory beef mixed with the noodles.

For dessert, DH got the Banana pudding

DSC04976.jpg

Which was REALLY good !! DH was surprised at how good it was and even

DD ate some of this.

I got the frozen lemonade

DSC04975.jpg

I love lemony things and this hit the spot. Very tart and refreshing. It is solidly frozen though and kind of hard to eat, but I managed !!

A family of four could split this meal and be full. Something to consider if you are paying OOP.

Where do we head next ??

DSC04985.jpg

DD wanted to ride Dinosaur, so we headed in that direction

DSC04987.jpg

DSC04990.jpg

DSC04991.jpg

DH and the kids rode while I waited. Too bumpy for me. They got off the ride and DD wanted to ride again since there wasn’t a wait. DS and I went to Restaurantasaurus to get the kids some lunch.

DSC04988.jpg

And you will never guess what they ordered ….. yep, Chicken nuggets – AGAIN !!

DSC04992.jpg

And for dessert

DSC04993.jpg

Some kind of chocolate mousse and some kind of cheesecake thingy. I just don’t get that gel stuff they put on the top of these things. It makes the textures all weird for me. Anyway, DD ate some of the chocolate and DH ate the cheesecake.

Yak and Yeti CS looks so good! I loooove sweet and sour chicken. :goodvibes

It was pretty good and it was a TON of food. I have always wanted to try it because it smells so good when you walk by. I think next time, I will just split something with DH and get some egg rolls, too. Plenty of food for two people.

:lmao:

Your meal at Y&Y CS looks really good!! Good to know about the portion size!! :thumbsup2

Love the Maharaja trail! Especially all the bird houses. So beautiful!

We went to the current version of Restaurantosaurus on out last trip. I thought it was a good option for us. I still love Flame Tree, but if DD isn't feeling up to ribs, it is a place where we both will find something we like. Plus its indoors!

Yes. Portions are huge. If you are not on the dining plan, or even if you are - sharing is a good option. You can save your other credit to share somewhere else.

I love the tigers. They are just so beautiful !! I could watch them for hours. I mean, they look so "kitty"-like. They don't look like they can tear you to pieces in two seconds flat. I want to pet one. It's not fair.

Flametree is OK. I don't like the sweet BBQ and their beans and cole slaw taste weird to me. The only thing I really liked there was the onion rings. And of course the kids don't like it.

Day 7 – Part 4

After lunch DD wanted to ride Dinosaur AGAIN, so she and DH rode. I took photos.

After riding Dinosaur for the third time with no wait, DS decided to ride Primeval Whirl. Normally, I would ride with him, but I knew it was a bumpy ride, so I sat out this time.

One ride on Dinosaur is fine by me. NO MORE!!! :lmao: I can't handle it. I'm a wimp.

Of all the dinos in Dinoland, I think the yellow smiley one is the cutest. He just looks so cute and happy.

Hahah, Pluto.

DD's face painting is so cute!!! Hahaha I don't know if I could do multiple Dinosaur ridings!

She just loves to get her face painted !! Yeah Dinosaur is not my favorite. Too bumpy and dark. DD loves it, so DH takes her.

That's a great face painting! I've never seen one like that before. :thumbsup2

I wonder f they are always the same or if they switch them out form time to time. Anyway, DD loves it !!

Yeah, I can do without Dinosaur. It is just too bumpy and not fun to me.

I like the Dinosaurs. Some of them are really cool and some of them are really cute !!

Yep. She LOVES Pluto !!
