Omg that is disturbing. Funny I did have to ask Bert why someone would want a 3d printer.

For members of the 501st Star Wars Legion it allows us to print lightweight prop weapons at home. It is a cheaper alternative to paying someone else. My printer has not run in awhile, took a break from it, but do have some projects to print. When the pandemic hit, filament prices went thru the roof, if you could find any. Things have gotten better, so maybe I will look at printing one of my larger projects now.

I also printed DW a holder that goes on the laundry detergent bottle that holds the cap below so if it drips it goes in the cap and not on the floor.
I get the usefulness of that. I think your stuff for 501st makes complete sense but i was trying to go with what is something i would do. All i could think of was hobbies like model airplanes and stuff. I guess that is why Ian probably uses it, his remote control car.

Ian has already sold some of the key rings. Unfortunately the head on the printer failed Monday night. He is on his 3rd printer in 4 weeks (replaced under warranty). It sounds like the quality control on these isn't great. The new one doesn't seem to be printing very well, but is better than the 1st one that was terrible. He did pick up a spare heater/print head since those seem to have the most problems.

Printer update. The computer on printer #3 completely died this morning, so he took the whole thing back, still assembled, and put it on their counter. He said' "I think these have some quality control problems or you got the short straw on a bad batch." They handed him a new box. Printer #4 seems to be doing OK. Printed a couple of things and it did fine.

Just was going to watch a random camping video that popped up on my phone somewhere and didn’t get 30 seconds in before hearing what I wish I could say (it was a dad in a family talking about how excited they were to be taking first RV trip in new Airstream trailer)…. Anyway….the sentence that I refer to was that they were “going up north to Fort Wilderness..” up NORTH to Fort Wilderness! I know you sort of do that @Stratman50th and a few others, but it is still a sentence I miss/wish I had…lol.

My WalMart and Sams have plenty. Both Blue DEF and the cheaper generic stuff. Have you checked the truck stops? Half the time I just fill up when I'm getting diesel on the road.

And March is a long ways off in the supply chain world.

no DEF at Wal-Mart or Sams, shelves are empty up here, but some available on Amazon $20 a gallon, crazy. think I'll wait, I have a full tank and not pulling until March

Our WalMart is running low. They only had the expensive BlueDEF. The guy stocking said "get it while you can", so I guess it is coming. If I find it at a pump on the way down to WDW or back, I'll probably top off.

I always top off on the road. With TSD you can do fuel then def without an issue (no discount on def). I am still over half since the last top off which is why I rarely if ever buy the jugs. Even my local fleet fueler that takes TSD card (no discount but better then cash price usually) has def pumps so I feel fortunate.

So an update from a late November 2021 post of mine above about dropping Directv (DTV). It's been done.

I'm not a big tv watcher but I do love my live sports. College and pro baseball and football, the locals, and a few classic movie channels. I had a large "dumb" tv (60 inch), a DTV subscription that was $142 a month (and watched only 10 channels), and a 30-40 mbps internet connection (max speed available at my address from my current provider, AT&T). So that's my recap.

This past fall I replaced the tv with a 70" Samsung smart tv. Then I signed up for YouTube TV (YTTV) for a month at $15 to try it out along side DTV. That went well. Only me and DW at home here so the home interent speeds, while not Gigabit, meet our current needs.

The week leading into Christmas I called Directv and disconnected service (they had sent me a paper mail notice in December saying my $142 rate per month was going to go to $150 per month. I said "goodbye"). I've gone through the major college football bowl games in the last few days with no problems on YTTV. (some minor features from DTV I miss but can live with at $65 a month).

For Christmas I moved my elderly parents to YTTV also (cutting their live tv bill in half) and got them a new big screen smart Samsung with my brother and sister under the Christmas tree. I'm their personal Geek Squad so I set up the tv and migrated their tv services and hauled off the old tv.

So it's done. There will be some plus and minus aspects of YTTV but it fits me now.

Update on my update:

This afternoon, we had a rain/thunder/lighting storm pass through and I heard a loud CRACK of thunder and power went out for a few seconds and then came back up.

But the phone lines and internet connection (from AT&T) are D-E-A-D. The soonest repair appointment is Wednesday morning.

I can hotspot off my phone as I am now but the Bama-Georgia national championship game is tomorrow night. Maybe I can watch it on my phone YTTV connection and cast it up to the big screen tv.

You have my permission to laugh at me.
