The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

All kidding aside she is a very pretty girl. How old is she and what is breeds Great Pyrenees and ?,?

She is a rescue. It seems like she was dumped as a puppy in north ga with her sister. She was extremely underweight the first time I saw her. Still is but she is filling out. She got picked up and then the rescue took her. We think she is about 9 months old. Probably as tall as she will get but should put on some weight. She has double dew claws in back so we are pretty sure Pyrenees and then we think golden retriever, her face reminds me of Mallory but she does not look like Mallory. Though she does have a few expressions that are totally Mallory.

when I spoke of her the last time being all secretive. I had met her but she had a very bad spay, she was really sick, internal bleeding. I was not sure then about her personality or how she would be. Turns out she is awesome. Very friendly. But not so fond of the elevator or the car.

I see Mallory in her face as well. If she has any Golden in her she will learn to love the car the elevator i can't help you with.
Hint we got Katie and Sky and they were about 4 moths old and were told to expect them to grow about twice the size they were then Sky 23 lbs Katie 27 lbs. Sky is now averaging 55 and Chunky is 84. They hit full weight and size at about 1 year and settled down at 18 to 24 months.
I still think she looks like a Bailey

Whisky did pretty good for night 1. She peed on her walk around 7:30. Took her out again bef bed at 10 pm but nothing. She did want to play. She had a hard time settling down to sleep but once she did she stayed in her bed and did not explore. I got her up at 7 am. No accidents overnight so first thing was to go out. I had great success she peed, then we took a lap and on round 2, we got number 2 😊.

after breakfast we went for a walk to the dog park. She was more interested in people. She is definitely not an alpha dog but no issues in the dog park. She is almost use to the elevator now. She gets another car ride today to go to mom’s.

Well we are back home. It was such a fun trip and weather cooperated till the last two days when heat indexes got well over 100. Lots of great memories, meals and experiences. We did not use G+ even once, got on every popular ride through patience and a little perseverance. We had so many great meals and memories made and glad that even with 3 teens and two hot and tired adults everyone managed to stay agreeable.

The downside of it was Melissa and I go to take home the extra souvenir of COVID. We both know our guard was down a little, we really had not been wearing masks in queues. Though we washed hands and used hand sanitizer a lot. All 3 kids are still negative.

This feels 50x less then how we felt back after our honeymoon in Jan 2020, so we are both convinced we had it then before we even knew it was a thing. This round has not been too bad other then fatigue and join pain for me, and fatigue and congestion for Melissa. It is what it is, we just feel bad that this happened and the girls where supposed to go visit their grand mother whos been having health issues. So now twice in a row our travel plans have affected Steve's plans for the girls to see their grand parents. On the other hand, we usually try no to plan anything back to back over the past two years (we even put a 10 day buffer in plans to visit Melissa's parents after they went to Universal in the spring).

I feel like you need a Whisky update. First Bert and myself are trying hard to get back on a schedule. Without a dog to wake me up or fill my time I could sleep in a little. Not anymore. Right now the morning consists of Whisky out (for the 3 P's), Whisky fed, Kris run, and then Whisky walk. In order to make that all happen so i can jump in the shower the same time i take my daily 8:30 meeting, I have to be up at 6:15. That assumes she cooperates with the 3 P's. She has learned that the 6th floor, where the pet relief area is, is for the 3 P's, pee, poop and play. She got me good this morning with one of her nails across my leg.

She stays pretty quiet during the day, not sure if that will change as she gets used to us. We do try hard to get her out a lot though. I figure the more exercise the better. At first we thought she might be older than a year because of how calm she has been inside, but as soon as you take her out she is ready to go, so that one year thing might be right.

Tomorrow will be the first day she is left alone. Bert has to go to the office and i have to go to mom's to help her. I know when one of us leaves she whines a lot. She still has not barked but i am expecting that to happen when we both leave.

Well I am back home in Alabama. I had to cut my summer adventure short because DW's father passed away this past Sunday afternoon (92yo) and the funeral is this week. His health had been declining but the end was not expected this soon. He left us while sleeping peacefully.

Please keep her family in your prayers.
