Wow! You guys get long breaks. My kids will be home in about an hour (half day) and they go back 1/2. :cool1: Do you get February and April vacations too?

I slept in today too. I didnt get up until 6:55, which is crazy for me. I woke up at 5:00 with a pounding headache....I never get headaches so this was strange. I kept snoozing, then when DH got up about 5:45 I gave it up and turned off my alarm. I wasn't getting up. :headache:

Got it Johnna! ;) Do you like the Christmas Eve birthday or is it a pain? How does Ryan like it? With Cam I was originally due on the 28th (mine and my Dad's birthday), but then one of the ultrasounds moved me up to the 24th because of his size. I was adamant I was not spending Christmas Eve or my birthday in the hopsital. Like I had any say?:rotfl:

Ok gang, I need help. I'm stumped on 1 gift I still need to get. Actually I have about 6 more, but I know what those are.

Any ideas for an older man (70ish) and 3 adult children who live with him. I want to get something sort of for them all, like a gift basket/gift set type of thing that they would all get use of, but I havent stumbled across anything appropriate. In the past I have given them little things, like candles, a platter of baked goods, etc... but I hate to do the same stuff over and over. :confused3

How old are the adult children? Men or women?

What about a basket with a favorite recipe of yours and the ingredients to make said recipe.

example: if it was lasagna....

noodles, tomatoes, cheeses etc and maybe a nice bottle of vino or sumthin like that :confused3

or maybe

a jar of friendship tea with cups and saucers

Is that something that might work? I'll keep thinking

They are male 38, females 39 & early 40s. They are the "real Italians", the father is from the old country, as was the mother(shes passed on), so the girls are big cookers...they have all the recipes, LOL! That would be a good idea though.

Their nephews/grandkids live in the neighborhood too and are my kids friends. Our kids call the older man Nono (grandfather in Italian), like his grandkids do. In fact we have started calling him Nono oursleves, LOL! They are really good to the kids, and us, so I want to do something. just not sure what.

DH is telling me to go the easy route (the way to go at this point I think) and just get a tin and make some rocky roads to go in it. I guess the tin would be reusable so that is sort of a gift. And I know one of the other DSs, who is always there at the house, commented on how good those were last time I made them. But any other ideas are appreciated too.

Hello friends!!

RJ- you got to sleep in!:thumbsup2 Very nice. Our kids are off until 1/7 also.

CamColt - how about a "movie" basket. DVD, popcorn, bowls, seasonings, that sort of thing. Here Linens N Things had some cool ones. That is my idea submission.

The Christmas Eve birthday works out OK. We make it a point to celebrate Ryans bday without a Christmas theme. Cake or cupcakes and presents. If we can we do it away from the tree. In another room I mean. At my MIL its the kitchen. It's kind of hard but like I said this is the first year she asked for a family dinner birthday so that is what we did last night. Somehow it all works out.

Just talked to MIL.:headache:  :furious: that woman infuriates me sometimes. Really looking forward to spending the next 10 days there.
Can you say gonna spend ALOT of time at RiverParkWalk. Whatever its called. Boy if RJ weren't going to Chateau de Knebel I would be really mad at you for leaving town.;)

Cards are ready to go!:woohoo: Have to go to Post Office to pick up a package. Should be excited about that but at this point just seems like another errand. DH Christmas party tonight. And somehow wrap it all up and move it to the ranch tomorrow. I suddenly have a headache.

RJ - do you know more about the DCL house party yet??

Hey again ya'll...

Well, I'm ALMOST done with wrapping all the stuff that has to go to WV with us this evening... I'd hoped to wrap some more of OUR stuff too...but looking at the clock...I dunno. I just moved another load of laundry to the dryer - I think I'm gonna call the laundry quits for today. I skipped lunch (ate some chips & dip) but I still need to pack our clothes too... Mom called & asked me about staying for church on Sun. I know we SHOULD go....but it's also nice to get home at a decent hour with so much left to do....so I don't know. :confused3 There's the right thing to do and what I WANT to do with that one....... Anyway, I want to have the truck loaded up by 3:30-4:00 so whenever DS & DH get home we can roll out...but I know traffic is gonna suck. The way we have to go anybody who is heading to the Pittsburgh side of PA, Ohio, MI, WV or anybody who wants to pick up I-81 So. thru VA etc. will all be on this one 2 lane road!:headache:

Johnna - try to have fun tonite at DH's party (invite the Captain :teeth: )have a great trip, Merry Christmas, wish Ryan Happy Birthday (again) and lets see - when do you come home? Do you stay there thru New Years? If so, HAPPY NEW YEARS too!! We'll miss ya!

Everybody else is still around next week, right? I'll be back Sun. sometime - have a great weekend!

EASY route - YES! I'm sorry - I suck at those kind of gifts! How 'bout Hickory Farms or Harry & David? Or a gift certificate to a fav. local restaurant?! I'm sorry - I am of no help!

Thanks for the ideas guys....all good ones. Now to decide. Annie, I suck at all gifts. I am the worst shopper.

For everyone traveling, if we don't catch up again, have a good and safe trip. Enjoy the holidays! :goodvibes

They look Yuuuuummy! :goodvibes

I hear ya, Ronnie Jo. I made some Rocky Roads tonight...don't know if they are for the neighbors or what yet. Well once I got the majority of it out of the pan, I was scraping it clean. I just went to town. This is such a tough time of year to be good!

:grouphug: Morning Peeps!

It's the last shopping weekend before Christmas.....who is brave enough to go out? ;)

Sure RJ, take a nice big chunk...no calories, remember. :)

Well, I was brave, but brought DH as a helper,LOL! We started out at of all places the mall. He dropped me off while he and the kids drove around to find a spot:goodvibes I got sports slippers (the big happy feet things) for the boys in the neighborhood, a gift card for my aunt and 24 bags of Lindt's candies for the guys at DH's work (he used to only have a few under him now he has a lot, so this gets tough).

Then we went to another plaza where DH dropped me at the party store and he drove around again. I got all the stuff I need for Christmas Eve(table cloth, plates, napkins, etc...) and was almost done by the time he came in. I took the kids to the car and he ran to the supermarket there to buy diet coke bottles (on sale .88!).

Hes out now getting a bottle of wine. I think Im going with the Rocky Roads in a tin and a bottle of wine for the neighbors.

Next we have to go to Cam's BBall game in about 1 hour. I finally get to see one, YAY! Then we need to make 1 more stop at Target for 3 gift cards (neighborhood boys again)and get a restaurant gift card, which we will get when we go out and eat tonight. Then I think I'm done! :cool1: PHEW!

Tonight you will find me on the couch watchng the Bruins game, with a drink in hand! I can finally relax!

Anyone else?

CamColt - enjoy that drink and the Bruins game!

DH is missing so he must have manned up and headed out for some shopping. I went to chiro, the grocery store, picked up Ryan who spent the night with friends, and then picked up cookies and chocolate creme pie from the baker of all that is good.

PHEW.

Nice baking by all y'all. I bought mine. But am making the glorious bleu cheese ball for the McDougald Family Christmas tonight!:thumbsup2 Apparently I have graduated from the relish plate! The cheese ball is yummy and easy to make.

As I head off to finish that last load of laundry that needs to be packed I wanted to stop in and say Merry Christmas to you all and Happy New Year!

For those of you traveling. Please be safe.

Sounds like you are doing well, Johnna! You are probably on your way, but if not, Merry Christmas! :santa:

I messed up....the Bruins had an afternoon game today. UGH! Why didnt anyone tell me????:confused3

But the good news is Im done shopping, except for some scratch tickets I will have DH get when he runs out tomorrow! Wooohooo!!!!:cool1:

NOW I'm in the Christmas spirit...when I can relax and enjoy it. Just gotta finish work and then I will be having that drink.

Hey ya'll...wow - I am just back from WV and nobody's been on here ALL DAY?! Wow!

It was a long trip back today - POURING rain and fog...I am glad to be home. Arms hurt from the death grip I had on the steering wheel for 4 hours & my eyes are crossed from watching the highest speed on the wipers!:goodvibes We skipped going to church with my parents as DH informed me on the way there on Fri. nite that he had not done ANY shopping yet!:headache: He has to work on Monday & said his brother who just came in from Kansas last minute wanted to come over & watch the Redskins game tonite. So we decided that he should go to the mall back home in WV yesterday & get started (first stop was in the jewelry store that my Aunt manages - they sent me out for a walk so I'm fairly confident there will be some sort of a bauble from there :rolleyes1). Then he just went out here as he said there was something he couldn't get there anywhere.:confused3

OK, so my parents gave us an awesome family gift! A Roomba 570! Yay!:yay: They were so funny 'cuz while my Dad was researching them online he got so impressed with the reviews they decided to order one for themselves too! They said they had it programmed with a schedule & it had left its docking station yesterday to start cleaning & my Dad had found it running in their room - they were laughing 'cuz it almost ruined the surprise by turning on with us there!:lmao: Anyway, it looks to be REALLY cool - we charged ours overnite in their docking station & I plan on getting ours out here in a little while to let it clean for me while I wrap OUR presents this evening!:woohoo:
