i need help! my dw and i bought our dd16 a USED car for christmas. let me explain, my dw car is standard trans, i drive a company car and we have a 2 year old town and country touring (commonly known as "the disney trip only van"). i dont want to teach her on a standard trans., she cant drive the company car and i didnt realy want to teach her on our $30k t&c, so we got her a nice 1995 grand am (was owned by and elderly lady, 40k miles on it). the problem we are having is, how to give it to her for christmas? im going to hide it in a garage next door so i do have access to it early christmas morning before she wakes up. anyone have any ideas on how to give it to her as a suprise on christmas morning?

dvczerfs,

What a great gift for your DD!

Here's my suggestion. Wrap up something car related. Not too obvious, let her have to think about it just a bit. It could be an air freshener, license plate, a bottle of motor oil, a car visor CD holder, a key chain, or a whole bunch of car related items together.

She will probably just give you a puzzled look for a bit until you explain that the rest of it was too big to wrap. Then watch her excitement as she runs out the door to the garage to find the rest of the gift!

Well dad's, it's official. As of 6:30 this morning, I now have a TEENAGER in the house! :scared1:

She's still asleep right now after she and three other friends stayed up partying until at least 4:00 a.m. (Maybe later, they were planning on watching a movie at that point.)

I'm feeling a little nostalgic this morning as I think back to that day when God gave our little 9 pound 3 ounce miracle to us. Now I look at her almost eye to eye as she stands only an inch or two shorter than I am, and think about what a beautiful young lady she is becoming. Not only is it true that they grow up fast, but you just don't think about them ever being as tall as you.

I look at my little one this morning having breakfast, sitting in her chair, drinking from her sippy cup and remember back to when that picture was my oldest.

Would I want to turn back the hands of time? Nah, I am thoroughly enjoying watching all three of my girls grow up and excited about the possibilities for their future! And hey, I get to experience it all twice more with the other two. Then there's the possibility of Grandkids some day?!? (O.K. maybe I'm not ready for THAT!)

dvczerfs you can always String it. Take a string and add a few odds and ends to the string as it runs through the House. Have it end up outside or even beter at the neighbors garage where the Car is.

We just bought a new Jeep DD knows it will be hers next year and DW gets to drive it now. I find myself driving it more and more . I also have a Company car ,she's not getting my Jeep Grand and we traded in a 94 jeep Cherokee that was on it's last leg.

Wherem I Now congrates DD 15 just returned from a friends Sweet 16 birthday last night . It flys by so fast enjoy every moment you get.

I must say you sound like a great Dad. I now have a teenage Granddaughter, a teenage step daughter, a 4 year old grand daughter and a grand child on the way. I loved the thought about experience it again. That's why I alway take them when I go to Disney. Well not always. My wife and I sneak off every year alone. The two oldest try to act so old until the hit the world. How can anybody not feel like a little kid again when piglet is giving you a hug. I treasure all the year with my family. Your a great Dad

Hey Dads,

First of all, I haven't been active in awhile...my second DD was born in Sept so we've been kind of busy! Anyhow, we're thinking of a very impromptu trip to WDW for the day after Christmas (we live about 3 hours away). We have been before Christmas in years past, but never day after. We would just be going to MK. Just curious if anyone who has been in the past knows if it is super-busy that day?

Thanks!

Very big Dis Dad Welcome

My first thought would be a "Treasure Hunt" give her the first clue in a gift box and let her search around for the next and so on. make the last clue the keys and a map to the parking space!!

you better watch out, cruising with the mouse can be VERY addictive, I talked my wife into a 7 night eastern on the Magic in 2001 and as of now we have Cruises #7,8,&9 already booked :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

now I just have to work my **** off to pay for them :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I don't think any of us is ever ready for that, but I have to say, It is worth it! I've been taking my oldest GS out to practice his driving this last week :headache: :headache: :headache:

Hello Dads!! Here is my first official question on the DIS Dad's Club Discussions. We are going to "the World" next week and have a 6.5 month old. Our question is when you have taken a child that small when did you find time to give them their baths? We are planning (and know that it might not happen) to stay in the parks until 8 or 9, and expect Evan to be asleep. If he is asleep, then we will just change him when we get back to the room and put him to bed. Did you build in time during the day to give a bath (especially if you were off your normal daily schedule--which we expect to be, but hey, it's Disney!!!) :) Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,

Scott

Welcome Aboard!

Well, it is only two more weeks until my next Disney fix! :yay:

We head down on 12/30 for two nights off-property until moving to AKV for our first stay at our home DVC resort 1/1 - 1/4. :dance3: I know it is going to be c-r-o-w-d-e-d  but we are going to have a great time experiencing WDW for the first time during the Christmas holidays! :santa:

We didn't plan to do a whole lot of the rides aspect with the long lines, but our plans have now changed. We are taking DS11s best friend for his first ever trip to WDW so we want to make sure he has a great time and a new Disneyaholic is added to the fold. Neither DS11 or his friend know about it yet, so it is going to be a great Christmas surprise for both of them. We are going to be doing every possible rope drop so we can get in some rides before the mobs fill the parks.

Hey, I never said I would try to keep up. :) Having two older sons who are very responsible (and only a cell phone call away) means DW and I can take a little more time while they all run ahead to get everyone a Fastpass.;) When the crowds get bigger, we can let the four of them stand in the long lines :scared1: and try to do the commando mode while we take it a lot easier and just enjoy the decorations, lower attended attractions and each other.
