On that note....We're going March 6. Is it too early to try to start thinking about dining and reservations for that stuff now? I'm thinking my wife thinks I'm crazy cuz I'm working out a spreadsheet with to-dos and restaurants, etnertainment and financials.

Absolutely not. Usually, you want to try and start booking that as close to the 180 day window as possible. That's been a bit more challenging lately since they are upgrading the system and the 180 day window isn't available for all right now. But I think they are taking reservations up to late March, so you'd definitely want to get on that sooner rather than later.

Of course, with some restaurants that's more important than others. With a Le Cellier or a Chef Mickey...those spots can be much more in demand. Where as something like Biergarten isn't as much. But, again...the sooner, the better.

Happy Sunday fellow Dis-Dads. Over the past couple weeks, I've been highlighting a WDW table service restaurant every couple days for my wife, in anticipation for being able to make our ADRs soon (well ... not as soon as I had originally hoped for due to their system update...but still) for our June trip. We've only done a handful of table service restaurants at WDW so we're hoping to widen our disney dining horizions.

So, on that note...what are the table service options that your family simply cannot miss? I need to figure out if I have any gaps in my list. I like the idea of getting a wide range of opinions. Thanks!!!!

We went into the Rose & Crown with low expectations, save for the fish & chips. It blew me away though. It is now a "must do" for us.

Hi Dads,

It has been a while so I thought I would check in. Our family went to WDW for 9 days at the beginning of November. There was no trip report because the trip was mostly filled with stomach flu and trips to the emergency room with our 6 month old baby and once for me because I was severely dehydrated. We took turns getting sick and taking care of each other we didn't see much of the parks and didn't use much of the dining plan. On a positive note I lost about 8 lbs.

I'll have to add that one to my list. I hadn't given that any consideration up to now. Thanks!!!

Wow! That truly sounds like a not-so-merry vacation. You'll have to plan a "make-up" trip :thumbsup2 But did you at least get to ride Old Band Aid??

My DW & I like the Rose & Crown also, I have a little "insider" trick for you.

make the latest reservation you can for dinner at the Rose & Crown, get a table outside, eat slowly and enjoy your self then order a few drinks. you can sit at the table and watch "Illuminations" from a comfy front row seat.
and have a cocktail to boot :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Ahh Christian - what a bummer! Sorry that your trip didn't turn out as you'd been hoping. My DW was sick on our trip in Oct too. She was a trouper and trudged along with the rest of us. Not the same as your experience - but no fun for the one(s) who are sick! Is your DD ok? The 8lb thing is cool for you! :-) Hopefully you can get another trip in '09 to "redo" this one???

WELCOME!!! Even if the bun hasn't come out of the oven yet, you qualify. Glad to see you here.

Well Dads, I had said previously that we were headed back down to WDW in Feb. to celebrate our 15th anniversary... since then, that WDW trip has been changed to a DL trip. So we're now in the throws of changing the plans, etc. We're happy either way - but I did so want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge. Oh well - the Grand Californian feels very much like the WL and they're both Disney... and either way it'll get us out of the winter weather for a while. So now instead of my MIL coming to us to stay with the kids while we're gone - the whole fam will be flying out to CA and the kids will stay with MIL at her house while DW and I go off and play for several days at DL. They don't mind that they don't get to come... they wouldn't have if we went to FL... and this way they get to hang out with their cousins as well as grandma.

So on Tuesday night I start the drive south to SC. my nephew is graduating from Marine Boot camp at Paris Island on Fri. I wounder if I can sneak in a dinner at Paula Deans place it's only an hour or so away????

Its been a little while since my last post so I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season with the little ones.

:welcome: to whithouston, whom I referred over to our site and I'm glad he got a great reception from everyone.

I had a great trip in September at the Boardwalk, and also want to thank everyone for their tips and suggestions. By far the best tip EVER was to make the 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk over to the Hess Station and buy beer there!!! :drinking1 It was only about $15 for a 12pk instead of $5 per beer at the Boardwalk. I went back twice!

While I was at Disney in September I was fortunate enough to visit the Adventurers Club one last time. It was truly one of the best nights I've ever had at Disney. I will miss that place and since I'm on the topic of beer, I thought I'd post the lyrics to one of my favorite Adventurers Club songs. The Colonel's Beer Song (using the tune from Do, Re, Mi)

Do, with which I buy my beer
Re, the guy I buy beer from
Mi, the guy I buy beer for
Fa, the distance to the store
So, I think I'll have a beer
La, la la la la la la
Ti, no thanks, I'll have a beer
Which will bring us back to Do, everybody now...!

O.k., digressing back to my September trip, one evening we ate at the Beach Club and my DW was totally impressed with Stormalong Bay and the Hotel. She's not quite into Disney (nobody's perfect), and made the mistake of saying, "Wow, if you can ever get us into this property I'd definately come back" (we traded our timeshare to get into the Boardwalk).

Well, as soon as I got home I searched every day :surfweb: for the Beach Club to show up for a trade. And it finally happened!! :cool1: And to top it off, the dates available coincided with my son's 5th B-Day. I've always told her that I wanted to take Colin for his 5th Birthday but never thought it would happen. So she gets her hotel choice, my son will get to have his birthday at WDW and I get to go to my happy place. Win, win, win.

Then, just last week, I found out Disney was dumping my timeshare trading company (II) for RCI. So next year will be the last year that I can trade into DVC. :sad2: So what did I do....sulk.....lock myself in my room.....Nope, I did what any Dis Dad would have done and booked a second trip by trading into the Wilderness Lodge Villas. My DW has no interest in going twice next year so the Wilderness Trip will be some man-time with my son. It will be our 4th "boys only" trip to the World without Mom.

A Pre-Trip Report will be forthcoming in the future.
