You are correct sir. The DP is tied to your resort stay. Park tickets are a separate commodity.

Correct...Park Tickets are separate...however you Dining plan will be connected to your length of stay...so you need to plan for the potential for "extra" dining credits.

When booking on the WDW site...they will automatically give you nights stay +1 days tickets...but that can be scaled down to as little a 1 day if you want the dining plan.

Thanks for the help! I don't think the extra meals will be a problem. We usually try to get in early on the first day and leave late on the last so that would use up a few credits. If we'd do breakfast or dinner on Universal days and maybe an extra character breakfast another day or something that would take care of the balance.

Now if I can just get her to decide on some dates and get something booked.:lmao:

Be sure and remember your friendly neighborhood Disdad TA's :thumbsup2

That looks awesome. I'm sure their lion probably moves just as much as the one on the Safari too! :lmao::rotfl2:

Be careful what you wish for... this involves my mom, sisters and wife finally getting on the same page and making plans. It could be ugly. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Wow I can't believe how many got removed from the list:scared1: I could see the ones in DTD, but I guess WDW doesn't own all the Resturants and have to negotiate every year:confused3

I think it's a mistake to refer to those restaurants as "removed" from the list. The issue is that Disney cannot include a restaurant as participating in the Dining Plan until a new contract is signed (otherwise they run the risk of being in violation of truth in advertising statutes if a deal doesn't get done). I would bet that, in many cases, they haven't even started negotiations for 2012 yet. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Disney waits to start the negotiations until they see how the summer travel season numbers come out. IIRC from past years, once they start the ball rolling, the DDP restaurant list grows very quickly.

That's as good a reason as any to use a TA. Let the TA take the heat. You can step out of the line of fire and just watch. popcorn::

Gentlemen-

My wonderful wife informed me about this forum and I would really like to join the DisDad group.

My name is Dan and I currently work as a Deputy Fire Marshall (glorified fire inspector) for the Bluffton Township Fire District in beautiful South Carolina. Bluffton is located just before you get to Hilton Head Island. Our next Disney trip will be here in the next month or so so that my wife can see Wishes one last time before they change the show. We have two boys, 6 (almost 7) and 4. We will be taking a longer trip to WDW at the end of October/beginning of November with my mom and my wife's mom and step-dad. Should be interesting.

I look forward to interacting with the other dads out there and hopefully make some new friends!

:welcome: Grab a beer from the fridge, and make yourself at home.

Disney travel question: My mom has been talking about taking a family trip next year to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary. We were discussing possible plans this weekend and she told me that she wants to stay on Disney property the whole time, and still do a couple of days at Universal without moving hotels even if though we'd waste park days. My response was that it wouldn't waste park days because we could just get 2 days less on the Disney park tickets. I guess my question is, am I right? Can we book say 7 nights, get the dining plan and only get 5 days of park tickets? I feel pretty confidant that you can, but I started second guessing it because Mom is a Disney junkie too and she was very confidant that we'd have to get park tickets for the full time to get the dining plan and book it all as a package.

DDP is deifintley tied to NIGHTS at the resort, and NOT tickets.

I agree 100%. :thumbsup2

Gee it's quite in here.

Hope that means there are some lazy slackers working on their Trip Reports.

Don...Aaron...etc...

Quite, or Quiet? :confused3

Anyone see the new artist rendering of the Circus part of the Fantasyland expansion? (picture is a link to article.)

This show is pretty amazing. I have a season pass on my Tivo to record anything with "Disney" in the title or description, so we've been watching these. The transformations are amazing, I'm a little surprised they can do a show about it. How could a family do this themselves?! :confused3

Did anyone see the Kitchen Impossible on over the weekend at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival? Robert Irvine was in rare form! :lmao:

Welcome, Dan!

Lucky!

Have an awesome time and we expect a full trip report!pirate:

This list usually is not very indicative of the final list. If December rolls around and there are a lot missing, then I would get worried. :thumbsup2

If that's true, I would be the second to last... Just lucky Google Chrome has spell check...

I just started using Chrome. I was a Firefox user, so it is requiring some adjustment time. But I like it so far.

We need to find out how to have a chance of getting on the show if they continue the series. Maybe one of us can get picked. :3dglasses

That Kitchen Impossible was interesting. That guy is not super-friendly when the pressure is turned up, huh?

Mark, are you offering?? :lmao::lmao:

That would be so cool. I'll have to stick with a Disney bathroom for now.

I'd be glad to, but my budget may or may not match the show. Actually, I can assure you it won't.

I haven't seen either of these shows, but maybe I need to.

Very nice work. I remember when you put the Epcot photo up about 2 or 3 threads ago. That is a great picture.
Thank you!

Welcome Dan!
I'd like a Jungle Cruise themed backyard with a PoTC/BTMRR themed house.

I agree. When I made it I was just looking at was was currently present and what was not. It will make for an interesting discussion when the new lists come out.
