A few other things with Allegiant that you might want to think about....if you are able to go to the airport and buy your tickets you can save the fee for buying the on line which I think was like 13 or so bucks per ticket last time we used them. So that was 50 bucks we saved just by driving 15 minutes to the airport instead of buying on line. Another thing...if you are traveling with children under the age of 5...dont worry about paying the fee pre select certain seats. After the catagory A passengers (the ones who pre paid) are boarded they let families with children under 5 board. That will save you a few bucks as well. It all adds up. Well worth it to me to fly Allegiant when I can. We have used them for the past 3 trips and it is great!:thumbsup2

Unfortunately, living where I do, the closest airport for me is at least an hour or more away!

Now, dont take my word for it...but we have flown out of CMH many times and I check the rates there pretty regular...I think you can do better than 297....even Southwest out of CMH will have a web only fare that will range from 79 - 129 each way just depending on what you catch on any given day. Just a little food for thought!

OK - I'm going to take your word for it Steve. "Steve said I should be able to do better than $297 - Steve lied to me!" :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Oh...and Steve's word for it ownage!!!!

:confused3Now, I hope you really do find a better rate ! :rotfl2:

Great Pics, Scott! She's a cutie!

Ooo... that would be a challenge! Open up and Oreo and eat just the creme without using your hands!

Thanks!

I think I could do that if the cookie was on the table...

At home today with hurting back. Ibuprofen is my friend today. Will try some rest, heat, and exercises.

ouch, I feel your pain! Get well soon!

Nice job on the photo's, and way to go DJ'ing the event. So what song did you pick to play during the cookie race?

Thanks, and I actually DJ'ed during the 2ed half of the dance, so didn't pick the cookie race song. I can't even remember what was picked. :confused3
I DO know that carrie underwood is a hit with this crowd, and they loved how much little kid music i had too. Sadly, I learned i was missing a lot of classic party/dance songs, such as the chicken dance. :sad2:

You do need to be careful here. Kid's costumes are fine, but I have heard of Disney making adults change out of their costumes is they diem them "too close" to the original. They don't want other guests mistaking you for the real Snow White, getting pictures and autographs, etc.
Granted at Halloween time many people are dressed as Disney Characters and they'll probably be more relaxed with those rules. But if you really look like you could be working, I'd expect at least someone to pull you aside and warn you not to take pictures or sign autographs.

the rules involved as I know it is that adults are not to be in costume in Disney parks. The ONLY time adults are allowed to be costumed is the mickeys not so scarey halloween party. I don't think you would have too hard of a time at the party. :confused3 but that is just my thoughts.

OK - in all of your experiences Dad's...when planning a trip well in advance....

When was the best time to purchase your airline tickets?
....

Any recommendations?

I usually do not start looking until about 4 months out. then i just watch them. I check multiple airports (for departing.) But i live in a different area than you. for me, I normally end up flying SW. They are cheap, they are decent, they throw in two free bags per ticket, and if I find a cheaper price a week later, i can change it to that price. even the 'non-refundable' ones allow for you to change the flights for free, and if you end up with a credit, that credit is good for future travel up to one year from first booking.

I also tend to make a 4 hour drive to the airport. We have closer airports, but i save between 100- 150 by making the drive, and i have family in that area so i can spend the night and leave first thing in the morning. (The area i drive to is right between milwaukee and chicago, so I check prices out of 5 airports. the two up here near me, and the three down there. (milwaukee, ohare, midway)

Yeah, most i've seen for a SW web only fare was 210, but i've snagged some for 82 before. Also, please please do not forget to figure in baggage. SW includes two free bags with their web deal... although I saw a cheaper baseline price from another company, when i added the cost of baggage fees, it was cheaper to fly SW.

good luck man!

Show some love for Tobacco Road. It is an Icon. Supposedly the oldest continuous running bar in Miami. Have not gone to the Forge in ages. Hmm. Mark, I will have some suggestions soon.

oXar, good luck with the new job today. Let us know how it goes.

Air, sorry to hear about the back. Rest up.

Unlike some down here, I am not panicking about the series. No way Labron is going to play that badly and come on, the production the Bulls got from some of their lesser knowns ain’t going to happen a lot. I am worried about rebounding. If it does go like game 1, it will be off to McDonalds for Mark and me. There are some really good Mickey Ds down here.

The one thing we hear about all the time is how much the world now hates the Heat. Kind of like the Yankees of the B’Ball world. Don’t be afraid to hold back, I am a big boy.

PS. Page ownage. If I was one to talk smack, I would say something along the lines of... Ownage like the Heat will own the Bulls and either team that comes out of the West. BooYaa! Since I am not talking smack, I won't say that.

Are you just adding some smack talk referring to me by me Nemesisisisis name? (I'm Brian, my nemesisisisis is Mark). :rotfl2:

As for the Bulls / Heat. I'll let the Bulls do the talking for me. They seemed to say quite enough last night.

As for Mickey D's.... um....no. :sad2:

Time for the Week 11 DIS Dad Fantasy NASCAR update.

***Attention birdslightyear, you need to set your lineup!***

It was a relatively quiet week in the standings with the exception of birdslightyear dropping to 9th place. The lineup apparently hadn't been changed recently and the drivers in the starting lineup have run out of starts. The lowest week will be dropped, so if you're still around you can set your lineup next week and still compete.

If anyone who hasn't joined the league wants in, please let me know. This league is in segments Spring/Summer/Playoffs so even if you join now, you can compete in the last 2 segments. We have 2 more races before the summer segment begins.

The standings after Week 11 in Dover, DE are as follows:
  1. Duck Martin 2854
  2. Jungle Cruisers 2623
  3. Pride Rock Motorsports 2580
  4. Mater's Racers 2565
  5. Test Track Dummies 2519
  6. DF Racing 2426
  7. $6 Disney Racers 2401
  8. Rolling Thunder Racing 2397
  9. birdslightyear 2396
  10. Taxidermy Tech 2387

The high score of the week for the second week in a row belonged to Jungle Cruisers, 272 pts
  • Carl Edwards
  • Ryan Newman
  • Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
  • Bobby Labonte

Look at me making my move.

That's my wife. :sad2:

Hey - what's she calling mindless dribble? I put a lot of thought into my dribble!
I have to kind of believe what she says Barry, your wife had my back for the superbowl so I kinda owe her lol:lmao::rotfl2:

Does anyone know that if Magical Express requires the use of car seats?

If I don't need them on ME then I shouldn't need them at all for the whole trip - which would be one less checked bag!

We do the 13 hour car ride. We leave in the evening to drive down.

Yeah - we normally drive through the night on our 17 hour trips to Daytona Beach, so we're used to it.

Unfortunately, this last trip down we had quite the unsettling experience both down and back. So we're trying to avoid dealing with the blood curdling cries in the middle of the night when they wake up and don't want to be strapped into a car seat anymore.

Yes, those were not good days. Mine are 9,6 and sleep thru night. When we drive back home during the day, they watch lots of DVDs. We have discussed staying the night halfway home (other side of ATL) with hotel points from work travel.

I prefer to make the drive at night. Ours is only 11-ish hours or so but at night there's not a lot to distract you. Our trip in 11/09 we got there at 1030, got our room immediately, then I took a 2 hour nap while my DW and kids milled around Lago Dorado and the rest of the resort. After that I was good to go!

I kid! :lmao:

Actually...when my kids were younger...they were very good travelers...just takes about 20 miles and they are out like a light...they get it from their mother...she sleeps allot when we travel.

Me I cannot sleep while anyone else is driving. <---think about that.

Oh, and if, for any reason, we end up moving back to Denver - we're flying to FL and our family in FL will have to come to WDW and visit us. I'm not driving 26 hours to WDW, then driving all over FL, and driving 26 hours back.

I try to wait but am just too anxious. I'll end up leaving around 5 or 6 and we pull in at 6 or 7 am for breakfast.

They do not. We had our 4 and 6 year olds on in May and they sat in the front seats on passenger side pretending to drive.

Yeah but when you factor in going through security at MCO the car drive is almost faster.
Actually that seems to be true for about any airport. While you might think that they'd streamline security procedures as they learn better ways to implement them, it seems to be quite the opposite.

Me I cannot sleep while anyone else is driving. <---think about that.
I'm right there with you.:thumbsup2

We have always driven...typically 10 hours starting at 2-3AM.

But this last trip we left at noon and had a 1 night stay in Daytona....may do this on future trips...gives us 1 more day for parks or whatever.

Thanks Barry - that definitely saves the hassle of having to check car seats. My girls do well sitting on laps and would do fine without their car seats.

I left at midnight then updated Facebook with hourly update pictures from our GPS app on the iPhone. It was pretty cool. I started getting sleepy around 0300 but when I started watching the miles count down it got easier. I was WIDE awake during the trip through Georgia (aka: the construction state) as there was pea-soup fog and construction everywhere. Navigating that at 70mph was a blast. :drive: :scared:
