I hope she's alright, and it doesn't leave a scar:scared1: When soda used to come in 64oz glass bottles we used to call them bombs. I'm kind of surprised that more alcohol is not bottled in plastic bottles:confused3

I am guessing for the most part, she is alright, I never saw her afterwards or even had bad the initial cut was, but the boss said it looked pretty deep, I will know more Wednesday I guess, it's the next time I'll see her due to different days off.

There is slowly more and more alcohol in plastic bottles, for one, you can take plastic bottles in Provincial Parks, so it's more ideal for campers, and the whole board has a weight-reduction program going to reduce the weight of cases, so that there are less back injuries etc, so that is a factor. But so far, for the most part, WINE in plastic bottles has been a bust, many have come, most have gone. No one really wants champagne in plastic, there would be no cork to go pop.

Bittersweet ownage!

so true... We also used to get boones farms back in the day. Now that was high class...

One year when we were at WDW, my mom asked if I could get her a bottle of orange wine, so we hit the store on the way back, I didn't see any so I asked the guy working there, he showed me what they had and I picked up a bottle for my mom, when we got home I gave it to her I noticed the name on it was the initials BF, yes Boones Farms:rotfl: Oh what a good son I am:lmao:

hey, as far as I'm concerned, that makes you Son of The Year! I only wish my mom was cool enough to drink boones farm!!!

Do they still make wine in a box:confused3 Now thats class:lmao:

But of course!!! We only offer it on Ontario wines, but they are there....I hate the bloody things. Most of the good wineries stay away from them.

Hmm...we have an imported wine called Boones, I wonder if it's the same stuff. Gallo is the importer if I recall. Mah, I'm the "Beer Ambassador" in the store, I'll stick with what I know.

Pretty sure Boones is too cheap to be imported... I think it's made in a bathtub in a seedy neighborhood in Oakland and sold off to the highest bidder... You must be confused with another wine?

HtmL tomater tag!;)(,?!:/ :confused3 is that something to eat? If so where can I get it!!
Meta tag (its a way of identifying elements in a markup language like html) not mater tag. Hmmm Mater Tag sounds an awful lot like Lazer Tag. Cars 2 is all about spies and gadgets, maybe they should make Mater Lazer Tag. That would be awesome. Yeah I'm not really sure how I got here from html either.

I am one tired camper. Worked until 0100 this morning on a project that I didn't know about until the middle of last week but because so many departments were involved I couldn't help but work on it. Up at 0700, get everyone ready, take DS to a Young Marines community service event, go to Miracle League, set everything up, get breakfast, do my reading, shoot the first two games and manage everything else on the field. Then at 1100 my wife and I head to my friends' graduation party (finally got his M.Div) - eat food, take pictures of his family since it's probably the last time they'll all be together, then go back to the MLT field around 1300. DS is back at the field at this point, so we relieve everyone who has been covering for us while we've been at the party and I take more pictures at the field. I stop shooting around 1530 because of rain. Rain clouds keep showing up randomly throughout the day by 1600 we're discussing whether to continue playing. If we SEE lightning we have to call it but so far no one sees anything but we did have a 5 minute rain delay. We finish the game and start the last game of the day. Radar shows a HUGE storm (purple- light and dark) surrounding the field and building all of the place but we're able to play the game with only a little drizzle and a few quick showers. We clean up the field and it's starts to downpour.

Moral of the story? 1) God is sovereign. 2) I'm really tired.

Oh yeah, and my DD was babysitting while she was running the store all day. That was fun.

One more week to go then we take a break until the fall. It's a lot of fun and we love working with the kids but it gets hard working a full time job, my side job, and this one at the same time. It's nice when the season draws to a close.

Next weekend we have our "home run derby" where the kids get their trophies and everyone gets a home run. Looking forward to this all season! It's going to be a lot of fun.

Until then, I just finished editing 100 keepers (out of 215 taken - I may take four or five of a specific shot but only keep the best) and started uploading them. Whee!

Now it's time for family reading and bed. All in all, a great night.

Goodnight, DDC Nation!
Sounds like you earned your sleep this weekend. Its great that you got to play all the games out. DW and I lead an Awana class on Weds night. While we both enjoy it, it runs the entire length of the school year so, there is a little sigh of relief when it ends.

Welcome grab your choice of plastic bottled or boxed beverage from the fridge. So how excited are you to be headed back to the parks and on the Dream?

So I am catching up on my DisDads Podcasts, listening to Ep. 5 right now. It brought up a good question, that I have been thinking about. As a younger dad with a little girl I am wanting my daughter to enjoy her first trip so much that she never stops begging to go back. My daughter currently will wave at our local mascots, easter bunny, etc. but will not ever go talk to, high five, hug them. With our trip being planned around her 5th birthday in almost 1.5 years away she may grow out of this, but I am curious if there is anything I can do to help with this timidness.

You don't by any chance have a full Winnie the Pooh costume do you? Cause if you have a nemisis and could convince him to wear it around her you would both acclimate your DD to characters and teach her the all important phrase "daddy's nemisis is Pooh"

So I guess I got nothing. I don't know if there is a way to acclimate them to characters. Frankly its a giant living stuffed animal, thats actually a pretty good reason for a child to be scared.

I actually think its my fault. I have an easter bunny costume that I break out every year. She got terrified by the fact that the easter bunny sounded like daddy. If I did have a nemisis, I would definantly teach her to say "Daddy's nemisis id Pooh' though. She is very got at listening to me, She can already sing the entire Arkansas Razorback fight song(kinda)

What worked for us was to let Squeaker (who was three-years-old at the time) take the lead. For most of the trip, he kept his distance from characters. The only characters he ended up warming up to were Stitch, on our last full day in the Magic Kingdom, and the Green Army Men in Hollywood Studios. Eight months later, he's still not particularly fond of costumed characters. But if you ask him what he liked most about his trip to Walt Disney World, he lists, "met Buzz Lightyear" near the top -- even though he only "met" Buzz from a distance.

So I guess my point is that you shouldn't assume that her experience is in any way diminished if she doesn't collect character autographs on her first trip. There's plenty for her to enjoy and experience. She can always get into characters down the road. Look at this as your opportunity to save a little monty by not needing to book terribly overpriced character buffets just yet, or waste prime attraction riding time in character lines! :rainbow:

What I did was talk to my DD and ask her what she was scared of... are they too tall, or what is it about them that is scarey.

She told me it is because she was afraid they would roar at her, or make some loud noise. after I explained they do not talk, she started to timidly go up... after time, she got to love them!

I started with using Chuck E cheese. We would go often, and I would ask when the cheese would be out. (because during slow times, you may not see him at all unless you ask. Former employee here.)

Once she was okay with the cheese, (in fact, loved him enough to ask if we could ask if he was awake, when I had failed to ask.) I started to bring her more to the holiday people, the bunny, santa... by the time we got to disney, I had also been talking to her about how much fun it is to be able to hug pooh, or jump with tigger, nevertheless talking up getting autographs (which can help the most shy of kids) that by the time we got there, she had no problem hugging and posing with almost any character. I say almost because villians were/are still out. but still we had fun!

My DD is the same way. What really helped her was an autograph book. It gave her a task to accomplish, so even the characters she was reluctant to meet (primarily the princes) she would still go up to. The characters she was skittish around picked up on it right away and worked with it. They come across it all the time. so they know tricks. DW and I also got our pictures taken with the characters by ourselves and with DD, showing her that nothing bad was going to happen. In fact, a lot of times, if she wouldn't go up to a character and DW or I did, DD would soon join us and we were able to get some good shots. The big key is not to force your girl into the meets, let it happen naturally.

It just occurred to me that, technically, I can join. Don't have my own kids yet, but DW has two from a previous marriage that, while I don't get to see them too often, I have a blast when they do visit!

:welcome: hope you know what your getting into! This place is an addicting time vampire.. I find myself watching a great movie.. Then suddenly wondering what's being said on disdads. Wife just loves it.. :rolleyes1

Serious question.. My wife wants to spread a little magic at Disney. She bought a peanut butter load of tiny bubbles in a bottle things and says she want to give them to the borderline meltdown kids at the parks..

Would you guys freak out if someone gave your little ones bubbles?

Have you ever done anything like this?

If you did, how did it go?

We always do something at the parks to brighten somebodies day.
One year on our last day we went to hard rock DTD. There was family there (3 teens and mom and dad) that was scrutinizing the menu... They were defiantly on a budget.. The waiter told them it was on the house before they ordered.. (we paid). Come to find out it was his wife's birthday and that was the only TS that she asked for on the trip. It really lifts our spirit to do something like this!
Bought popcorn and soda for some teens that had brought their lunch in from home!! Can't wait to do it again. :thumbsup2

man, I have not done this, but I tell you I would be worshiping the ground you walked on if you had saw my DD last year and gave her bubbles. I think bubbles would be pretty good to give, as I can't see a reason off hand why not to accept them. (candy = sugar, possible allergy etc... some parents dislike stickers ending up in wrong places, ie stuck in the child's hair) But I would just ask the parent first if it would be okay.
