Was that Zelda? I believe I used to play that at my best friend's house. It was a text based game and it told you the things that were happening. Then you told it what you wanted to do.

I was quite intriguing! :rotfl2:

Wait no - I was mistaken - it was called Zork I think. Had to google it!

Sounds like the right one...wouldn't let me use a flame thrower.....:lmao::lmao:

2000... Year 2K...

And I am proud to say that you guys have become more than just a bunch of usernames to me... more like a bunch of friends all over the world... who have similar values and an awesome desire to make our families into FAMILIES.

::yes:: Great post, Don. :thumbsup2

The Hawaiian BBQ looks really good :thumbsup2

Hawaiin Bar B Q!!!! Mmmm

Another vote for the Hawaiian BBQ here!

Wish I could stay up forever like some other dads in this club. I would actually post another TR update. Unfortunately, my king bed is calling my name. Night all!

You don't have any more creative excuses than that?

Let's see....Someone's life ends a little before normal expiration date..

Team solves the crime...

You're up to date now...you're welcome....LOL

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Hey guys... just popping in quickly to say hi. Nice to see the thread is moving right along with another 8 or 9 new pages.

I'll post some pics and such when I get home again.

Have a great week guys... I am. :cool2:

Glad you made it safe, and can't wait to hear about the trip! :thumbsup2

I flew down to Miami this morning and we hit some turbulence. Nothing new except the pilot next to me who was dead-heading all of a sudden perked up and said "Whoa!" Not the most reassuring when a pro says that.

At least the roof stayed on the plane. I can't wait for my Southwest flight next month. :headache:

At home I left DW with 2 sick kids which kills me, I wish I could be there to help out instead of sitting here in a hotel. Fortunately our oldest didn't get admitted today and is still home trying to fight a nasty virus that got into her lungs. She's been using a nebulizer along with cough medicine with codine and oral steroids. She's got the cocktail going now for it to kick in. Our youngest has an ear infection, which isn't so bad, but she gets very clingy when she's sick which isn't helping DW try to comfort the oldest. Fortunately the middle DD is fairly self-sufficient and is helping out as much as she can.

Yuck. Sorry you're not there to help out. I hope they heal up soon. :goodvibes

Good Morning Dads...

All you techie "geek" Dad's might get a kick out of this:

They're bringing back the Commodore 64! Check it out!!!

:woohoo: Pong can't be far behind! Should I dig out my old 8-tracks too?

My FILs surgery went well. They did a triple bypass, but 'couldn't repair two other small ones' per DWs text. The surgeon said it went great and his heart looks great. That was Monday.

Yesterday he was already sitting in a chair watching TV.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for him, he seems to be doing well. :cheer2:

That is great news. We will be keeping you all in our prayers!

lets see...

Nemisis...glad you arrived safely.

Big Tex...glad FIL is doing well

middlepat...hope the kids start feeling better.

I loved those old text-based games. We had an old Commodore 64 & an original Atari. My cousin had a Collecovision (spelling?), though, and I remember being very jealous! Amazing how those old games stand up. Without all the effects, the actual game design needed to be stronger, I think.

So...what is that one sound that sends you to your happy place at WDW everytime you hear it?

Well my happy place is actually sitting across from Aloha Isle...but for some reason when I hear the Star Tunnel music (exit of Space Mt.) I am pixiedust: in the Magic Kingdom.

One of my favorite sports games of all times was a very simple football simulator on the computer. I so wish I could find that game again. Basically, all it boiled down to was choosing which play you wanted to run and the computer would simulate that play against the opponent. The graphics were basic, but I could play that game for hours and never get bored.

Hi Guys I am sorry for not checking in lately but you don't make it easy!!! I believe somewhere in the last 80 some page ludicrous speed was mentioned. I have been trying to catch up since you started the DDC Ocho. Work has been crazy since I got back from WDW last August and If that wasn't enough we went though a layoff at good old Ma Bell in October and November so I was hunkered down working feverishly hoping I wouldn't lose any more team mates (or be lost myself).

Congratulations Trennr great 2000th post and as far as sounds that put me in the "Magic" I would have to say the theme from "The Big Country". It is one of the song's that plays in the Lobby of the WL. Always makes me smile when I hear it even have it on my itunes.:goodvibes

Emma's Dad Congrats to you too and Ditto to what everyone else said, Thanks for all you do!:worship:

Stopher I hope you are having the time of your life. Enjoy a Mickey Ice Cream for me!

Welcome Mrmrezg I haven't posted in months but I always feel right at home after reading a few post. BTW I also recommend the Whispering Canyon for a 9 year old boy. I took my boys there when they were 6 and 8 and they had a blast.

Thanks again for all the tips last August our trip was great even with the crazy heat but we expected that.

Recently it's been the lobby music at POR:thumbsup2

My happy place in the MK is TTA and I can't hear the soundtrack to wishes without smiling and sighing.

For me it's the music from Illuminations. Probably because, on our first trip with my oldest daughter, we finished our day at Epcot with Illuminations. It was the icing on the cake of an awesome day at WDW and instantly takes me back to those memories.

Spectromagic is right up there too for the same reason.

Gotta love the monorail spiel too!

Interesting article.....

http://travel.yahoo.com/p-interests-38952334

#4 is obvious....and where my first week of vacation is spent!

#5 is where I live!

#6 is where my second week of vacation is spent!

Interesting article, but the author doesn't have much credibility with me. I saw error after error in her descriptions, particularly with reference to Disney properties:
1) Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom "the granddaddy of them all"? Huh? Um, that would be Disneyland, with a 15+ year head start on the Magic Kingdom.
2) Epcot hasn't been "EPCOT Center" in nearly 17 years.
3) No mention at all of the existence of Hollywood Studios
4) Not Disney-related, but no mention of Islands of Adventure in general or the Wizarding World of Harry Potter specifically

It's just sloppy reporting, and the kind of thing that really annoys me about bad travel writing.

Good thing I'm taking the boat...:lmao:

I wish that I could find a place to download more music from the parks. I've downloaded some stuff of itunes, but it isn't the park version of the music... just not the same. I've got to say the #1 sound for me is "this here is the wildest ride in the wilderness!"

1]...well in my neck of the woods...the "Grand-Daddy of them all" usually refers to the "Largest."

2] No comment...other than I call it that to get on DS16's nerves...also call the MK "Disney World"...and the TTC "the station". Also it should be "Disney's Animal Kingdom"...to be technically correct.

3] What's Hollywood Studios? Disney's Hollywood Studios...I still call MGM for DS16's benefit.

4] Maybe WWoHP and IoA were lumped into Universal Studios? ...that's how I think of them...being I have never been.
