Yes, I love the little things about staying in a Disney hotel. On our last trip, my wife, my sisters and I were walking around POP one evening. Just taking a leisurely stroll while we chatted and enjoyed some adult beverages. We ended up walking out on the bridge and from there we were able to see fireworks (I assume Illuminations?)

That was really neat though, we were out on the bridge without anyone else around enjoying the peace of the evening and all of a sudden we see a fireworks show to remind us where we are. Just one of those little special Disney moments.

it is odd, it dont matter were you stay on property, with all those people, but you often can find yourself alone many times. i find myself asking dw at okw, were did everyone go??:lmao: even at the car. beach, you never realy see to many people walking around the room areas of the resort. at the food court yes, but even on the paths you only bump into a few people.

Whew...we ended up driving all the way today!
10hrs, 8 potty stops, 2 gas stops, 1 food stop later we are in Lake Buena Vista. Was able to get a free room at the Hampton Inn with my Hilton points! Ready to have fun tomorrow. Planning on breakfast at Kona, check=in at POR and then head over to Epcot. Should be good...
will meet up with the rest of our group of 13 tomorrow afternoon.:cool1::banana::yay::woohoo::wizard:

congrats doc!:thumbsup2

It is exactly those moments as to why it would be so hard for me to stay off property.

Awesome Philip! :cool1::banana::yay::woohoo:

Hey, can I ask you a favor? Can you drive to Fort Lauderdale and pick me up? :thumbsup2

Hey guys,

Heading up to NH tomorrow to meet my brand-new nephew. I won't be around for a couple of days, so I'll be sure to look for DDC VIII on Wednesday when I get back. But I may have a couple of DisDad meets to report if all goes well! :thumbsup2

Oh, and I agree with the other guys: staying on property just seems like part of the magic.

Have a great weekend!

That's so cool Mark! Have a great weekend. Enjoy meeting the new little guy, and enjoy hanging with the big old guys if you do meet up.

The colors look a little faded in the picture, But it looks real good in person! :rotfl:

I'm their easiest customer:lmao: I go in tell them what I want and they don't have to ask me anything:confused3. Although it is the same cost as if I booked with Disney, I get any promo Disney is offering, plus all the perks AAA offers.

This year I did really good, besides the Kids Stay & Play Free Promo, plus AAA perks, I also got a $25 WDW GC + Disney kids carry-on :teacher: a extra $139 bonus:cool1:

I hear ya, Ron! We did that back in 2008, but did not get any other additional AAA perks. I guess I now like the freedom of making any changes I want without having to go through another person.

Ok dads... I finally received a quote from a local shop willing to print out a bunch of the DIS Dads Club shirts. I'd like to gauge the interest in the dads who would be interested in purchasing a shirt. I still have a couple outstanding questions with the vendor, but as it stands, I can get shirts up to size XXL for $11 a shirt. The text in the front will be modified with your member name and number.

Front (Hard to see, but the text is "Member ###, Then your username):

Back:

Still need to find out if shirt color will change the price. Also, I'd be willing to ship these out at cost. Not sure how much shipping would be for various dad's locations, but I would think this is still cheaper than through other shops.

Nice work, Don!

Hey guys - just wanted to share a bit of happy news. I got off the phone with my uncle a few moments ago, and since it's been a little bit since I mentioned it, thought I would now while I'm waiting for the call to go pick my son up from his Scout activity this morning - one of those "we'll call when we're done" kind of things.

My grandmother has taken several positive steps in the recovery direction! My aunt & uncle have moved her in to a Board & Care facility, where she's in a much smaller patient to staff ratio... they told me it's 1 to 2... way down from the Assisted Living place, and the rehab center she was most recently at.

My uncle showed up yesterday and she recognized him and was able to speak fairly lucidly. Her hair had been done, along with her nails, and she told him she felt beautiful. :)

She still has a ways to go, but she is feeling better. Her cracked rib still needs to be dealt with properly, but she has a new wheelchair and apparently said she likes her new room. So we rejoice in those things.

Have a great Saturday all!

OH, I'm so in with this. I will admit that I might not meet each and every criteria...the one that fits me best is that DW thinks I'm a big kid. :thumbsup2

So who am I? Disneyzell (AKA Drew), but DW also posts on this name, so don't let her fool you! :thumbsup2 I'm 40...from New Hampshire. I have two boys, 12 and 8 in addition to my lovely bride.

We have a trip to the World planned for July followed by a 5 day cruise on the new Dream...woohoo!

I am in the middle of a trip report for our Cruise on the Wonder.

Welcome Drew! Glad you found us.

Been a busy week for me, but looks like it's been a very busy week for the DIS Dads thread!

FIL had surgery at the VA hospital yesterday. Seven hours but things seem to be good. DW and my two oldest just left to visit him for the weekend which leaves me home alone with the DD4. Time for a little Daddy Daughter time!

Have a great weekend!
