Hmmmm - I have a Wii, but don't own Mario Kart. Looks like I need to hit Gamestop at some point soon . . .

Our travel for this summer is a bit of an unknown at this point. Our usual summer trip is to Minnesota. We spend a weekend in Minneapolis, hit Nick Universe at the Mall of America, then head down to Rochester and hang out for a week with my in-laws. My wife is from Rochester and her parents come back each summer for their annual physicals at the Mayo Clinic (they're both Mayo retirees). But we're making this visit this weekend instead (minus the Minneapolis leg), as my in-laws are in transition at the moment.

They've been living in middle-of-nowhere Glasgow, Montana while my father-in-law worked a well-paying gig at the hospital there, so he could make a good-sized dent in his student loans (he went back to medical school at age 50). But they moved from Montana this past week, and are making a pit stop in Rochester while deciding where to go next. The travel from Glasgow, MT was just too onerous to go around interviewing (it takes a minimum of two days to get anywhere). My FiL has begun applying for other jobs, and they're hoping to be within a few hours of us here in KC. So I suspect we'll end up going to visit them wherever they end up moving to around the end of the summer - I just have no idea where that will be.

Random question:

Anyone know if the in room coffee makers use standard size coffee filters?
(at POR specifically)

Here's a pic of the inside of the coffee maker at the POFQ.

I put a KTTW card over the filter basket so that you could get an idea of scale. While the coffee maker is small it looks like the basket for the filter is normal scale. It takes traditional flat bottom filters. Not the conical kind.

I'm 5 pages behind so I'm sorry if this has already been answered.

I love Spring. Grilled chicken & potatoes tonight. But I'm not looking forward to the yardwork... but I do have two in-house gardeners, so that's good.

2 Gardners.:thumbsup2

The first time my son was able to mow our grass was a big day in our house. It was one of those "hurray!" growing up moment, instead of the "teary eyed" moments being discussed above.

Sounds like a great day! And you are starting off right with Epcot :thumbsup2 I'll be posting up a Sum of All Thrills experience on my TR... SOME day! :lmao: Did you keep your card??
Sure did. Can't wait to try it online
Fed needs a lot of horsepower to pull his boat. The trailer has spinners, which adds to the aerodynamic drag. :rotfl2:
Couldn't he just put a spoiler on the boat to counteract the spinner drag?

Finally I found the DIS Dads! I’m planning a trip for this October on the Dream (1st Cruise) and 4 nights at the CBR with my first MNSSHP. I’ve been a huge Disney fan from my youth, but nobody ever understood it. It all started with my Grandma in Kansas who had the Disneyland Picture Souvenir book. First thing I would do, every time I went to visit was go straight to that book and look through it for hours (sidenote: when my DG passed in ’89 my mom presented me with this treasured book and I have since shared it with my DD). Finally my parents gave in to my persistence and took me to DL in ’81. My next visit was not until my Honeymoon and my first visit to WDW. Since then, I’m sad to say the Magic left me (but still a fan) until one day at a Chucky Cheese in Amarillo of all places, while looking at their pathetic animatronics it came to me….I’ve got to take my DD to DL for her birthday, plus it was the year of Celebrations where she got in for free. I realized what I’ve been missing. Since then, I have planned how to get back and I think listening to Disney Park music all day is okay....right?

I love planning this vacation (between meetings with the Bobs) and appreciate all that the DIS Dads and the DISboards have to offer.

Dave aka Grooovertoo

Welcome Dave
So I got this today in an email from Denny's... I know, you're wondering why I get emails from Denny's... but it all started a couple of years ago while signing up to get a couple of free meals at the Denny's on SR 535 near the Crossroads Shopping Plaza for our Sea World trip... and I just haven't unsubscribed to their stuff yet...
Wow, bacon even makes spam better.

Wow! Thanks, can't ask for any better than that.

Never underestimate the power of DisDads! You ask the disdads a question and you get good info, straight from the source.:thumbsup2

As for plans this summer, mine consist of saving money for our sept '12 Walt Disney World trip. May do a couple day getaway to Branson, MO for some outlet shopping or just a handfull of staycations. We found a very nice hotel about 15min from home(out in the farmlands of Arkansas). Feels like we are on vacation but still close enough for comfort. They also have discounted the 1bd suite to $60 with the understanding that if they get a group they might kick me out.

On-line Mario Kart is real easy! (and fun). We'll have to set up a time. Maybe easier to setup via Facebook.

We'll have to work our way up to shooting Zombies on line with Fed! :cool1:

I am soooo in:cool1:

Love, love, love that song. That was one of the ones played at my Father-Daughter Dance last weekend. Very cool. I'm honestly amazed that he is even able to continue performing it after the death of his own daughter a couple of years back, but it is so very cool.

I agree, that one always gets to me.

For those of you not going to a Disney destination this summer (me)... what are your plans or family trip(s) if any?

My younger son and I will head to Summer Camp in June and my eldest will be working at Summer Camp this summer, so we won't really do anything as a family during the summer months, but we will fill our time with some weekend type stuff, as well as visiting with family and friends in the area (and any DDC Dads that happen to pass through - yes Mark, I mean you!). Plus both boys will have a second week of a church camp to go to... so yeah, we won't be traveling during the summer.

We'll as you all saw yesterday I am trying to ocnvince the little woman to go to DW again this year, however none of my ideas have convinced her yet. My 2nd choice is going to Chicago for a week and doing the zoo, Shedd Aquarium and six flags. So far she isn't into that either.

She is not on board with traveling very far with the two babies yet. I believe her exact words were " if you think I am getting on a plane with an 8 year old, two 4 year olds and two one year olds without a small army of nanny's, you're flaming bonkers". .... When I asked her about our odds she said there was a 1 in a million chance that we could go...... my response "So you're tellin me there's a chance"! !

Don't worry I'll wear her down :)

Nope.

(Bonus: Page ownage while getting in the zinger on DisneyFed!)

That's right....Poke the Dragon:mad::lmao::lmao:

We do too. We have so many different kinds of UNO sets... at least three traditional sets including one from my childhood that has some very dog-eared cards, Princess, Disney Parks, National Parks, UNO Attack, UNO Spin, SkipBO, and whatever kind is in our Owner's Lockers, I honestly don't remember if they are themed or regular. It's always a great choice whenever one of us picks it.

Can't play UNO...DW is a card shark and is absolutely RUTHLESS.......and it hurts my feelings:sad1::rotfl2:

Duc Tape (check), WD40 (check), Super Glue (check), Bailing Wire (check)
But what to use when......................................Comcast (cable, internet, and phone) have been out for the last eight hours????:confused3:confused3

Life's best moments, when your 4 year old son brings you his wood tool box and asks "Daddy can you use these to fix the TV please?". :rolleyes1

High Explosives---nothing can't be fixed with High Explosives:lmao:

Hey Fed!

Say hello to my little friend!

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT????

Still waiting on a call back from my Ranger Buddies---they're out fishing this week!

This is more the way it is in our house. I love my boy, but DW and I are actually on two different missions. She hates that she’s loosing her baby and wants it all to slow down, while I’m working on raising a man and see every milestone as one more well placed brick in the foundation. Now... My brother has two girls and the atmosphere over that way is very different to say the least.

I’m not familiar with this tune so I’ll have to listen to this when I get home. I suspect it won’t hit me quite as hard as some of y’all (but I may need to send it on to my brother who will certainly take the full brunt of it).

I'd like to nominate a song for the Dis Dad's Club, but I guess it would be a song for all the Dis Dads with a daughter. I never heard of Steven Curtis Chapman or this song "Cinderella" until I heard this song in my daughters' dance performance this weekend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrWMBC6yoME

Great song. I'm also a big Steven Curtis Chapman fan. He's also a very big supporter of adoption, which I think is very cool.

Hey, we could do a Dis Dad Mario Kart race :cool1: I can't play tonight, but my number is 3652 0942 6205 if you want to register us for a future time

I've never tried it online, either. But it sounds fun!

::yes:: That's a heartbreaking story. It really gives the song so much weight.

What could you possibly be talking about?

Here's my travel plans for the year:

This weekend I'm driving up to New Hampshire to visit my brother, his wife, and their newborn baby. Then we found a little log cabin in the White Mountains to rent for a couple of days (our own little Wilderness Lodge! :woohoo:). I'm working on a meet-up with Chris (DisDadDoc) and Tim (that's nice) in CT on the way back, either all together or separate meets.

May 12-15: my dad got tickets to the Players Championship golf tournament near Jacksonville. He's been taking me and my brothers to events like this for a few years as a family men's golf trip. This year, my brothers can't make it, so I get to take my son along. He doesn't know yet. We usually attend the tournament, play golf, explore St. Augustine, and fly in/out of Orlando so we can have an excuse to wander Downtown Disney on that Saturday night.

July, we're planning a road trip. Doing a loop through Ohio/Indiana/Chicago/Louisville/Mammoth Cave/WV. With a few more DisDad meet-ups planned as well! :thumbsup2

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That quote gets me every time.

So are you sure you can't get to Chicago? All the cool people are doing it... :cool2: (see above)

I really need to upgrade to a PS3! We only have a Wii

We got ours a while ago when we were looking at BluRay players since it was just $100 more than the player we wanted. The media server part of it is great and we can access all the videos, pics, and music on our upstairs PC through the wireless network. Plus when the whole 3D bluray thing started up they sent out an update that enabled it to play the 3d blurays (just need the TV to go with it now:()

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked it up last week at BJ's. They were originally $79 at Christmas but they've been reduced to $17. It's a full wireless controller, even has a trigger switch for single, burst, or full auto.

DW is less than thrilled with it, especially since after taking the picture I put it on the table in the spot where O eats breakfast. He asked if he could take it in to kindergarten for "share"

Haven't heard a peep out of my "buddy:mad:" since I said I would deal with whatever dealer he took it to. I really think he just expected me to say OK and hand over the cash.

When? Which day or days? That'd be great, but my schedule for next week is pretty full already. If it were possible, that would be cool.

I am going to be in the area Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. My schedule is flexible so let me know if any of those days work for you.

When my girls get married, this is the song that I'm going to dance to with them (The Cure - Last Dance) - lyrics start at about 1:45

Now I have two, thanks......

OK - I have DisDadDoc and Disney Commando booked for Podcast Episode 3, to be recorded on March 31. I could use two more volunteers. Opening roundtable will be about Magic Kingdom touring approaches. Anyone?

I'd love to, but I still don't have the technology. I keep forgetting to look for a headset/microphone. We had actually gotten one a couple weeks ago, but it wasn't Mac-compatible. :sad2:

Here's the one I bought from Amazon.com that I'm using with my Macs:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0007SXHP0/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

It retails for over $40, but they are available as refurb or used for substantially less. An Amazon marketplace vendor who does their fulfillment through Amazon is about as "safe" a third party vendor as there is.

One other possibility - if you have Rock Band or Guitar Hero with a microphone for a video game system, you might plug that mic into your Mac and see if it works. I've seen reports of those mics working surprisingly well.
