The podcast was great. You did a great job moderating Aaron. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and get it onto itunes.

There were great comments by all. The commentary on the 3 favorite restaurants was great. I would have wagered that most any man will place all you can eat meat on a stick and a great steakhouse high on their list of places they like to eat. :thumbsup2

Loved the rope-drop discussion too. It is a must do, even more so when the parks are crowded.

Thanks again Aaron, Mark, Gary, John, Chris, Nate and Carl. If I missed anyone thank you too.

I'm on my way to australia for a couple of meetings. Barring any delay's I get back Thursday night and then Friday we start driving to Florida. I'm really hoping pixi-dust a the cure for jetlag.

Have a safe trip:thumbsup2
Enjoy DW when you get there:cool1:

Shirt Design Advice

I'm having trouble viewing some of your T-shirt designs on-line from work.

Can I get your opinions on my vistaprint design? Should I include other info on the front? Like the name DIS Dad's Club? I included the website on the back.

I'll try but I sit in the back of the plane so I don't have much control over how safe it is.

I am so psyched for WDW, kids still don't know we are going to the parks. They think we are just going on the cruise. Pray for the person next to me on the way back from Aus. They get to spend 14 hours next to someone bouncing up and down and chanting "i'm going to Disney World."

Do any of you use software to monitor or restrict internet access at home?

I don't use it at home...but I have used opendns.com before. It allows you to block by category or specific domains as well as traffic monitoring.

Best of all it's free!

I've got K9 Web Protection by Blue Coat installed on the kid's laptop. It's free and filters content as well as provides the ability to block access during restricted times. A nice touch is to have the barking dog sound if he hits something not approved or tries to enter the wrong admin password. Scares him and lets me know something's up if I'm not standing behind him. The app also has logging to track blocked page loads. Good thing is the kid hasn't hit anything yet, but it's a nice safety net and free.

I went simple but official looking, I had 3 polo shirts made with Dis Dads Club on one breast and Disney Commando on the other, in a fancy cursive writting, like I said it was simple but it looked professionial:confused3

I got a call yesterday from one of my friends, due to my Grandmothers passing, during the call we realized we all haven't gone to a concert or anything in a year and a half, now I think I've metioned in a previous Dis Dad thread when we go to a concert trouble follows (only with with the rite combo of people) We'll anyway we are now ready to get some tickets, these are the choices

Bob Seger
Boz Scaggs
Elton John

Who would you go to see, most likely we will get tickets Mon.:confused3

Thank you for the kind comments. It was a lot of fun, both putting it together and the actual recording. If you've got a spare minute, it would be great if you could write us a review on iTunes. Reviews help get us more visibility when people search for podcasts.

Love the shirt design Chris! I wouldn't change anything.

Generally, Friday afternoon news is bad news, but today I have some good news to share.

My dad just called on his way home from the Oncologist. He's been enrolled in a placebo-controlled trial of MDV-3100 (anytime your drug doesn't have a name yet, that's usually not a good sign). But on his bone scan today, his cancer has regressed, and his lymph nodes are clear! That means that he is likely getting the drug (not the placebo) and that it is working (for now)

party::jumping1:party:

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

Chris

Excellent news. Hope that things continue to improve.

I am new to DISboards, but not to WDW. While perusing this site, I did notice the overall lack of testosterone. I am grateful to have found this little sanctuary.

So about me and mine....

I am 26, the wife is 28, and my amazing son is 3 (Yes, he gets his awesomeness from me). My wife is a teacher, and I am an Infantryman in the Army. I am currently in Afghanistan, and trying to plan a trip to WDW in October, when I get home. It is very difficult to plan a trip to WDW, let alone trying to do so in a third world country.

I have been going to WDW at least once a year since I was 4 or 5. I have seen and done a lot of it, although not all of it. My wife went one time before she met me, as part of a cheer leading program. Our first experience together, we stayed off site, about 40mins away from Disney, because we were broke. Actually, I was broke, she was a poor teacher. I joined the Army after that, and used my signing bonus for our honeymoon (we actually got married several months before going, but our schedules wouldn't allow us to do a proper honeymoon). We stayed at CBR, which was awesome. Since then, we've gone back twice. Once after my last deployment, we stayed at the Beach Club. And last year right before I deployed this time. We stayed off site at my dad's time share with the rest of our family on that side.

Our next trip we will be going in October, after I get back. It actually works out nicely, because I have never done the FWF. And it will be my birthday :D Bonus! The wife said I could do the drinking around the world. I am very excited.

Welcome, and thanks for your service. Be safe.

Is it just me getting old or is there really a decline in the manners of younger people?? :confused3

Last night at dinner we wet out to Cracker Barrel (fish dinner - Friday Lent) and i counted at least five guys with hats on. My mother would have pulled out her whooping hand and cut that thing off the top of my head.

I also so a couple of young men (late teens) cut in front of two elderly women to the doors which the slammed in front of the women.

Aren't we allowed to pull them back by the ears and make them apologize or something......

Maybe I am turning into a prude

As a school principal, I can tell you that without a doubt there has been a decline in manners. I see it every day. I may be wrong with this assumption (notice that I didn't say the word ASSUME:thumbsup2), but I think that it's because kids get EVERYTHING for doing nothing. For example:
"Oh, your team finished last and didn't win a game all year, well here's a trophy since you all tried so hard." No, your team sucked, and you don't deserve a trophy; that's life, and it isn't fair the majority of the time.

and

"Thanks for coming to my child's birthday party, here is your present so that you can have something to open too; we don't want anyone left out and to get hurt feelings because they don't get to open a present." BS, this isn't your birthday, it's somebody else's, and when you go to someone's birthday party, expect NOT to have a present to open.

There are lots more, but those are the two that drive me absolutely crazy.

[steps off of soapbox]

So, when's the next podcast?? My wife had an unexpected death in her family over the past week and we've been covered up with all of that business. I was thinking that there was one this past Thursday and I had plans to join in, but unfortunately......... And, guess who leaves for WDW Thursday morning?? DW. Guess who doesn't leave for WDW this Thursday?? Me. I've been watching the forecast and praying for rain every day, but it looks like that's not going to work out, so I guess that I'll have to tell them to have a great time in the sun.

Got Carolina v. Dook, round 3 this afternoon. Heels been living on life support for both of their tourney games so far. Dook is due to hit about 50 percent of their 3 point shots seeing as they stunk it up from behind the arc last weekend and in the first game (thankfully), so it's a game that I'm dreading.

After 4 hours at soccer fields yesterday, DW has laryngitis today. So, I get a day where I can't be yelled at. :woohoo::woohoo:

But I get OWNAGE

And UConn still sucks.

Question about the dis dads NCAA basketball pickem. Would you consider putting in the option of letting us pick 2 brackets in the pickem group?? My reason for asking: DS (who is 10) likes to pick brackets and having a second option to pick would give him a chance to do so. So, I'm petitioning the commissioner for a rule change/exception popcorn::

We tried NetNanny, but then we switched to the free Microsoft Live Essentials and we really like that. You might try it out (if you are a PC/Windows user.)
