Hey Daddy-O! Good to hear from you! I hope you enjoy your time at the World and that it gives you the break you need.

Thanks, its good to be back. I've had some time off around the holidays and wanted to get re-connected here on the DDC. I am trying to catch up on TR's and the last 20 pages or so of this thread. I'm hoping to be able to check in more often. I even had time to update my TR....yes that still exists:lmao: If anyone is still interested....:rotfl2: I promised myself I would finish even if nobody's reading it.

We are leaving tonight to stay over near the airport and leaving at 7:00 am. We cant wait, we sent the kids off to school today and have a bunch of running around to take care of before we leave. My wife of course has come down with a cold, (its in her chest, so we are going to the clinic this morning to maybe get something just in case), never fails someone gets a cold before a trip. I was joking with the boys that we may have to leave Mom home and take a replacement....:rolleyes1 (Just kidding honey  )

I was listening to a DIS Unplugged podcast from September and they mentioned this thread, so I had to check it out. I first visted WDW in 2000 and have been going almost annually since. My wife (rchristiansen), daughter, and I are signed up for the ABD Backstage Magic 4/17 - 4/22/11.

Thanks,
Jeff
Welcome to the club! Always good to have another Sconnie on here. Where in Wisconsin are you from?

On that note, I have to express my disappointment with the Big 10 this year. We went 0-5 yesterday, (although secretly I was enjoying the Wisconsin loss... sorry Barry)
:sad2:

Guys, I'm looking for a little help.

I have posted the following question and would appreciate your insights as well:

Non-Park Day Help

As I mentioned previously I'm stopping by WDW for a quick non-park visit. My expected itinerary is as follows:

Arrive Orlando Area: 2:30 pm Sat (Jan 15)
Depart Orlando Area: 2:30 pm Sun (Jan 16)

I was looking at doing DTD, or resort hopping but wanted to ask some other what else am I overlooking as ideas for non-park Disney fun.

Thanks for any suggestions.
You can also go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge. Go through the lobby and out the observation area in the savanah. Lots of good views of wildlife.

Jeff,

It is a nice site. I've consulted it many times over the years. I was in 3 FF leagues this year (a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd).

I was the Commish for the DIS Dad's Fantasy Football League this past year and will be running a DIS Dads Fantasy Baseball League in the spring. My team (The Mouse of Pain) came in second.

If you are interested in baseball or football, let me know. Although you may be the textbook definition of a "ringer".

And who won that league? In their first year ever in a Fantasy Football League? Not that it's going to my head or anything (I'm photoshopping a trophy now to add to my signature)

I did want to make sure I said thank you for organizing and running the DisDads Fantasy Football League. It was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to fantasy baseball and defending my title next year!
Fear the Sparkle! Jasmine's Necklace is on the hunt!

Hey, Jeff! Welcome to the club! That tour sounds like a lot of fun. Definitely need to read a TR about that visit!

You are member # 549! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Well… The holidays have come and gone. School cracked back up today and I won’t see another day off at work for a good long while. Hope y’all had a great holiday. I know we enjoyed the trip down to The World. That was our Christmas present this year, so there really wasn’t anything under the tree this time around (which is just fine by me). Not that I don’t like presents (I ain’t no fool), it’s just that the things I want are so expensive, that I wouldn’t want any of my friends or family spending their money on them, and the usual “stuff” that everyone can afford, I don’t really want or need. All the gatherings and food (way too much of the latter I fear) are what makes the season for me anyway.

Glad to here that most everyone is either doing well or on the mend…

Welcome to our newest members!

And here’s to an adventurous new year…

Happy New Year....wait, I'm a little late on that one:rolleyes:

Welcome new dads....our ranks continue to grow---and grow:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Steve---man, glad you're home, seriously dude, you looked like death warmed over---surely you're thinking of some revenge pics???:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I spent last week chasing toddlers (all the cousins were at my mom and dad's), my 3 year old slept from 5:00 last night to 7:00 this morning:eek: He played hard, man, played hard:lmao:

And the weather was nice enough to fish....not catch mind you, but fish:lmao:

**I own this page**

Thought for the Tri state DDC meet.Do any of you Dads and families like camping? Maybe we could do a camping trip, this way it may make it easier for people traveling a little distance.Better to spend a weekend somewhere then a day :thumbsup2Just a thought.

Last day off from work today after being home for 12 days!
The Giants didn't make the playoffs! :rolleyes1
And, no trips planned to the World this year.
So, is there any GOOD NEWS????
We're expecting our 4th grandchild in March (a girl)! :goodvibes
And, our Navy son called a little while ago to tell us he would soon be boarding a plane with the rest of his Blue Angels teammates to fly from Pensacola to El Centro, CA, for winter training! Two and a half months in the CA desert helping and watching the world's greatest pilots fly around! He hopes to be "crested" in a few weeks, officially making him a Crew Chief for the #1 jet! Hooyah, Son! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
And, we might have a tri-state DIS Dads Meet this winter/spring! :cool1:

Congrats on all the good news! But one correction:

The Giants didn't make the playoffs!

This is good news, too. :rotfl:

I'm going to slip out of "lurking" mode to troll for votes. I don't know if I'm "allowed" to do this or not, but I figure other people do it and we may as well have a DisDad win something rather than some other guy.

Vote Now - Group 2 of 4 - Posters Choice <-- The Disboards photography contest. #A is mine (as if you didn't already know). Just a thought.

:D

In other news, things are very well. We got our family Christmas gift on Saturday - an Xbox360 Kinect. WOW! That's a lot of fun! While our Wii was great for our kids when they were younger, I think the Kinect is exactly what they'll need as they transition to tween/teens and out of my house! We've been playing Dance Central (hush! It's a lot of fun) and I think it will count as my new exercise platform. My wife, on new meds now, is officially out of the wheel chair and I have new crutches for her on the way. If you're in the market for some light-weight forearm crutches I can point you in the direction of the company we're using. Anyway, she only uses them when she's going for walks or when she needs stability and has been actually able to play the dance game with us. That's a huge step for her.

Lastly, my 14 yo daughter, the one who had built a signature book for the kids that she babysits, was rewarded for her effort with pink eye. The hand sanitizer came out and she's now under quarantine until she sees the doctor this afternoon. Whee.

So, that's my monthly update. Still reading and laughing, posting when appropriate.

Vote early and vote often!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

ABD Backstage Magic is Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic trip to California, which includes a meet and greet lunch with Marty Sklar. Other highlights include special access at Disney Imagineering, tour of the Jim Henson Company Studios, behind the scenes at Disneyland Park, backstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live, and El Capitan Theatre tour. There's a thread about it on the DIS Adventures by Disney Trips board.

We've never done a ABD before, but are really excited about it.

WOW! Now I'm excited for you!

A Blueray player and a Slingshot. (Yes, a slingshot. Yes, I asked for it. Yes, I know I'm 40.)

I got out!!! I am home!! Man I NEVER want to go through that again!

Welcome home. That looked like it sucked. Glad you're feeling better. :thumbsup2

Funny you should say that LOL...because we got Just Dance 2 for the kids for Christmas and we fired up Ike and Tina doing Rollin on the River...by the time it was over...I thought a call to 911 was in my future :rotfl2: This white boy can't dance!

My wife and I used to dance a lot at night clubs. I was a raver from "way back in the day" so a lot of the techno dances are things that I remember. The problem is that in order to level up you have to do stuff from other genres and that's weird for us. Well, for me anyway.

Ok fellas this is it, we are just about to leave, talk to you all soon. :cool1::cool1::yay::banana:

Have fun!

Ok, I voted! I also got my copy of that picture in the mail over the holidays. My daughter will love having it hung up in her room. Thanks again for making it available.

I'm a little slow in finding things on the board, but I think I've found a place to stake my claim.

Hello everyone....grumpyfannypack here. I'm 39, father of two, husband of one, from the far away state of Illinois, and upon my family's return from WDW in Sept. '10, have just realized that I am addicted to Walt Disney World. Not so much Disney in general, just WDW. So maybe this is the place for me if y'all'll have me.
